Mamie Babb, 95, of Poteau, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2002. She was born Aug. 30, 1907 at Durant, Indian Territory. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Poteau, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Gamma Omega of Poteau sorority. She was a third grade teacher for more than 40 years in Poteau.

Survivors include her husband, John Carroll Babb of Poteau; one daughter, Susan Hawthorne Shipp of Oxnard, Calif.; two grandchildren, Mark E. Shipp of Oxnard and Jennifer St. Laurent of Poteau; three great-grandchildren, Lance St. Laurent and Maxim St. Laurent, both of Poteau and Everett Shipp of Oxnard; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends and former students in Poteau.

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at First Presbyterian Church of Poteau with the Rev. John Blue officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery at Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
