Herman Earl Allison, 73, of Red oak, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2002, in Heavener. He was born Nov. 13, 1928 to W.W. and Della (Pack) Allison in Wister. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Howe. He was a retired truck driver and played the fiddle for the Poteau Valley Jamboree. He loved to make music, especially with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edgar Allison, Jewel Allison, Virgle Allison and Dale Allison. Survivors include one daughter, Marla and Don Sumpter of Red Oak; one son, Terry Earl Allison of Wister; four sisters, Ruth Luman and Ruby Waldon, both of Poteau; Glenna Johnson of Siloam Springs and Gean Waldner of Bullhead City, Ariz.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.
A family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at Grace Manor Funeral Home in Poteau.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at First Baptist Church in Howe with the Rev. Leon Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at
Mt. View Cemetery in Glendale under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Tolbert, Denver Turner, Will Charlton, Jim Hacker, Carl Lockhart and Johnny Janway.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Sumpter, Brian Allison and Shawn Walker.
