Ben Owens, 85, of Heavener, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Talihina. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a member of the Heart O' The Hills Baptist Church and a retired rancher. He was preceded in death by one stepson, James Potter; and two stepbrothers, Floyd and Leroy Hayes. Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; two daughters, Diann Massey and Wynema Luman, both of Heavener; one stepdaughter, Orpha James of Bossier City, La.; one son, Benny Owens of Heavener; two sisters, Imogene Welch of Heavener and Wanda Stewart of Spiro; one stepsister, Ann Bell Osborne of Blue Jacket, Okla.; two stepbrothers, H.B. Hayes of Spiro and J.B. Hayes of Pocola; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13 at Heart O' The Hills Baptist Church at Summerfield. Burial will follow in Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener. |
