HUNTER GOINES
12-19-2001 ~ 11-23-2002

MY NAME IS HUNTER

MY NAME IS REALLY HUNTER,
BUT I GO BY MANY NAMES.
EACH ONE HAS A SPECIAL MEANING,
AND I LOVE THEM ALL THE SAME.

I AM DADDY'S LITTLE "GOOBER".

HE ADORES ME SO.
AND I ADORE HIM ALSO,
THIS I'M SURE HE KNOWS.

BUT TO MOM I AM HER "PUNKIN".
"SUNSHINE" IS MY NAME.
I BRING JOY TO HER LIFE AND LIGHT UP HER WORLD,
AND FOR ME SHE DOES THE SAME.

AUNT ANGIE CALLS ME HER "SUGAR PLUM PRINCE".

SHE TRUELY THINKS I AM.
SHE LOVES ME LIKE I AM HER OWN,
I AM HER "LITTLE MAN".

TO ASHTON I AM "HUNNY BUNNY".
TO JACE I AM JUST "HUNTI"
TO ME THEY ARE MY BESTEST FRIENDS,
BUT MOST OF ALL MY BROTHERS.

MY GRAMS SHE CALLS ME "MY GUY".
AND SOMETIMES "ANGEL BABY".
SHE STARES  IN AWE AT HOW PRECIOUS I AM,
HER WHOLE HEART AND SOUL SHE GAVE ME.

MY POPS, HE'S MORE THE QUIET ONE,

BUT BURST WITH PRIDE HE DOES.
TO HIM I AM A "PRETTY BOY",
THE APPLE OF HIS EYE.

OUR LIVES HAVE CHANGED FOREVER.
FOR WE ALL LOVE YOU SO.
OUR MEMORIES ARE ALL WE HAVE LEFT
AND WE'LL NEVER LET THEM GO.

IN MEMORY OF MY ANGEL BABY
LOVE ALWAYS, GRAMS

Hunter and his father, Scott Goines.

Hunter was born with Down's Syndrome.  He spent his short life in and out of the hospital with a severe heart defect known as an "unbalanced complete av canal."  His immune system was also challenged because of his weak heart.  Therefore, he was susceptible to illnesses that to most children would be a cold; to Hunter, they were life-threatening.

For eleven months, he fought hard and overcame so many close calls and complications that I finally believed he would make it.  But, before he was big enough for the surgery that would save his  life, he caught a virus that was stronger than him.

To say that he was adored is an under-statement.  He was truly the "light of our lives," and we miss him terribly.  His battle is over and ours has just begun.
