John Robert Collins, 86, of Panama, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at Poteau. He was born Jan. 23, 1917 at Haileyville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He worked as a pipe fitter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Keeran Collins in September 2002. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sonya Collins of Yam Hill, Ore.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Kenneth Collins of Tahoe, Calif., Ernest Collins of Amarillo, Herbert Collins of Okmulgee, Pat Collins of Casper, Wyo. and Henry Collins of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau with the Rev. Billy Wheat officiating, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
