Jack Byars

WISTER — Jack Byars, 89, of Wister died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Poteau. He was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Poteau. He was a retired mechanic and worked for Poteau Motors Company for 38 years and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Wister. He helped organize the LeFlore County Wolf Hunters Association in the 1940s, a member of Oklahoma State Fox Hunters Association.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister with burial at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva; three daughters, Jackie Pond and Connie DePeauw, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Jannie Maxwell of Tulsa.

Pallbearers will be Lester Thompson, Charley Cox, Hervey Andrews, Bud Morgan, Earl Curry and Frankie Brown.
