Wadesville
and Bohannon Cemeteries - from Talihina take Hwy 63 east towards Muse,
cross Frazier Creek, turn due south one half mile to George Morgan's on the old
site of Wadesville, go in his pasture at the gate, drive west for seven
minutes, and enter pasture of Harold Wright one mile. This is one of the
most isolated of all the cemeteries explored although not hard to reach.
It is located on a high south bank of Frazier Creek.
This is the burial site of Governor
Wade and those of the noted Dukes tribe. The cemetery contains about 250
graves. The oldest graves are in the extreme northeast corner.
Wadesville is the resting place of many Choctaws who figured prominently in
the settlement of their new nation, and at least a dozen markers with age make
it possible for them to have been on the Trail of Tears, which was true with
Governor Wade and his wife, Frazier, and others. This cemetery is just
inside LeFlore County on the boundary line of Pushmataha, and some writers
have placed it in that county.
