Buster Smith, 76, of Shady Point, Ok. died July 2, 1997 at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau, Ok. He was born August 30, 1920 in Bokoshe, Ok to Isaac and Edith (Davis) Smith. He was a retired machinist for Baldor Electric and loved to fish and coon hunt. Funeral services were 10:00 am Saturday, July 5, 1997 at the Shady Point First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Roberts officiating. Burial followed in Old Bokoshe Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. He is survived by his wife, of fifty-six years, LaVera; three daughters, Patricia Joyce Walden of Poteau, Ok., Janice Carol Craig of Spiro, Ok., Linda Jodine James of Shady Point, Ok.; a son Robert "Buck" and wife, Marilyn Smith of Shady Point, Ok.; a sister, Grace McCullar of Porum, Ok.; two brothers, Howard of Shady Point, Ok. and Rex of Oklahoma City, Ok., eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Voight and two brothers, Leon and Joe Smith. Pallbearers were Kenneth Self, Richard Haynes, Frank Wiles, Paul Caldwell, George Swindle and Ray Archey.
