Oliver Maple is Sent to Hospital

On complaint of J. W. Broody and Thomas Griffin, of Cedar Township, Oliver Maple, of Seward, was committed to Norman hospital yesterday. (October 3, 1908, page 7 column 5)


Marriage License

A marriage license was yesterday issued to Alfred Martin and Emma Boles, both of Reeding. The couple was united in marriage by Judge Strang. (October 3, 1908, page 8 column 4)

Recipe: Lemon Crackers

Five cents worth of oil of lemon, six cents worth of baker's ammonia, 2-1/2 pounds of sugar, two eggs, one cup lard, one pint milk, sweet, and enough flour to make a stiff dough. Soak ammonia one hour in the milk. Roll out the dough as for cookies, cut in squares, prick each square about six times with a fork and bake until a light brown. Ida Enslin

Cottonwood is Again on a Rampage

The Cottonwood went out of its banks at six o'clock last night. Communication between West guthrie and Guthrie Proper is cut off except by telephone and in many cases the phones have been burned out and the wires are down. Train service was badly crippled yesterday and today the city is practically cut off from the outside world. (October 23, 1908, page 1)


Admire Lewis, the first white boy born in Oklahoma is a balloonist. (October 27, 1908)


Carry Nation arrived in the city last night, after an absence of several months. She will speak on prohibition tonight at the Christian Church at 8:15. No admission will be charged. (October 31, 1908)
