Gould is located in the southwest corner of Oklahoma at the intersection of State Highway 62 and State Highway 5. In 1908 Samuel L Gibson filed a townsite plat and called the community Gibson. The following year John A Gould became postmaster and renamed the town. Today, Gould is the home of the StockmanS Bank, several churches and businesses.

A view of the Gould School and Community Memorial

Gould School and Community Memorial

The Gould Alumni Association has undertaken the task of overseeing the construction of a memorial which highlights both the Gould School and the Gould community. See a likeness of the proposed memorial above. The monument will have a picture and history of the town of Gould on one side and a picture and history of Gould School on the other. The granite memorial will be erected in the park area south of the American Legion Building in Gould. We are seeking individuals who have either attended school in Gould or lived or worked in the Gould community, who may be interested in having their name on the memorial. You may also have family members who have passed on that you would like to include or living family members who you would like to inform or include.

If you or others in your family are interested, a packet may be obtained which contains detailed information by writing to the:
