WEALTHY YOUTH DIES

In the death of William McKinley Clayton, wealthy Creek freedman of Sapulpa, Okla., the Race lost one of its wealthiest young citizens. He passed away recently In Monzorla, Cal. It required eight men to lift the heavy silver casket in which his body was shipped home for burial. The novel coffin was valued at $3,000. The body in its rich burial equipment was taken to the Lorence church, five miles south of the city, where funeral services were held.

Interment was at Tuskegee Indian cemetery. Young Clayton Is survived by a widow, to whom a large part of his estate will probably be given. The Clayton building...is one of the most valuable estates in Sapulpa and was owned by him.

Clayton was buried from the church which his sister. Mrs. C. M. Thompson of Chicago pave the community several years ago. She and her husband. Capt. Charles SI. Thompson, who recently graduated in dentistry from Northwestern university. went to Sapulpa to attend the funeral. Clayton, unlike many other wealthy youths, refused to be exploited by guardians. He controlled his own estate and invested heavily in property in other cities-

Clayton Building was built in 1918 in the heart of downtown Sapulpa. It contained a furniture store on the first level with the upper four floors housing professional offices. After 90 years and several modifications, the Wells Building has been restored to its early 1900's character.
