Mary Ellen Massey, 87 of Sapulpa, passed away at 1:38 p.m. on Tuesday December 15 at St. John’s Tulsa.

She was born May 10,1922 in Sarcoxie, Mo. to the late Edgar and Mae Campbell. She graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1940.

She married husband Paul William Massey on March 10,1944. They moved to Sapulpa on June 1,1960. Mary worked in the Sapulpa High School cafeteria for more than 20 years and she was a volunteer at Bartlett Memorial Hospital (later St. John’s Sapulpa) for more than 40 years and was credited for thousands of hours. She only quit her volunteering a couple of years ago at the age of 85.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Massey, only brother John Campbell and only sister Hazel Gillock.

She is survived by her son Tommy Massey of Tulsa; daughter Jeanie and husband Don Pfannestiel; grandchildren, Lori Harris and husband Lee of Sapulpa, Jason Massey of Sapulpa, David Massey and wife Kathy of Glenpool; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Taylor, Jack and Emma Harris of Sapulpa, Taylor, Stacie, Logan and baby Jacob Massey of Glenpool, Hunter, Destiny and Rylee Massey of Sapulpa. She is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Massey Bischoff of Joplin, Mo. and many nieces and nephews of Joplin.

Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Sapulpa on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Gibson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Lee Harris, Nicholas Harris, David Massey and Jason Massey. Entombment at Green Hill Mausoleum.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, Okla.

The family will headquarter at the Massey’s home the day of the funeral.
