Leo William Whitney, 81, Prairie Grove, Ark., died Dec. 22 in Springdale, Ark.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove with the Rev. Joe Sherman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brentwood Cemetery, Brentwood, Ark.

He was born May 9, 1909, in Sharon Springs, Kans.

Mr. Whitney was a member of the United Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, a graduate of the University of Arkansas and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was retired from the Arkansas Western Gas Co. and was the manager of the Prairie Grove office for 16 years.

Survivor include sons, Robert Whitney of Bixby and Edward Whitney of Sapulpa; stepson Ernest Wayne Garrett of Richmond, Va.; stepdaughter Lila Lee Bean of Boulder, Colo.; half-sister Fern Bartholomew; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
