Elmer Jean Whitfield, 68, Cleveland, died Thursday at Cleveland Hospital.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland with the Rev. Dan Eden officiating under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitfield was born Oct 17, 1922, in Plymouth, TX. He married Billie Pendergraft, Dec. 3, 1949, in Clovis, NM. He retired in 1985 after a 25-year career with the Corps of Engineers. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include wife Billie; daughters Beth Broaddus of Sapulpa, Linda Rice of Ralston, Cathy Day of Cleveland, Jan Birch of Yale; brothers Merle of Blair and Bill of Levelland, TX; sister Ruth Scott of Lubbock, TX; and eight grandchildren.
