William Roy Smith, 97, Bowden, died Sunday at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Tuesday at Allen-Bowden Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Bilby officiating. The casket will be closed at the service.

Burial will follow at South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Smith was born Oct 2, 1895, in Pepsin, MO. A lifelong resident of Bowden, he was an Army veteran of World War II, and had served on the Allen-Bowden school board more than 40 years. Smith was a member of the Masonic Lodge #170, McAlester Consistory and the Naomi Chapter #295 Order of the Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, and two daughters, LaHoma and Patsy Ann.

Survivors include his daughters, Billie Hanna of Sapulpa and Betty Wood of Tulsa; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
