Duane Schmitt, 58, of Bethany, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Bethany First Nazarene Church.

Burial followed at Resurrection Mausoleum under the direction of Gene Adams Funeral Service.

He was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Sabetha, KS. Mr. Schmitt graduated from Muskogee High School and Muskogee Junior College and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He moved to the Bethany area from Sapulpa in 1977. He was owner of the Metalines Corp., a member of the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Kumjoyus Sunday School Class, Niroga staff member, Bethany Kiwanis and Southern Nazarene University Benchwarmers booster club.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; mother, Opal Schmitt of Sabetha, KS; son, Richard (Dick) Schmitt of Oklahoma City; daughter, Beverly Hood of Honolulu, HA; brother, Dale Schmitt of Oklahoma City; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Duane Schmitt Memorial Basketball Scholarship Fund at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany.
