J. L. [Jay LeRoy] Ranney, 85, of 1310 E. Cleveland, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 1995 at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Nick Hawkins officiating. Burial is to follow in the Mounds Cemetery, directed by the Smith Funeral Home. 

Ranney was born May 17, 1910 in Creek County and had lived in this area all of his life. He was an oil field pumper for many years and worked on the Glenn O. Young Ranch. He attended the Salvation Army.

Survivors include three sons, Melvin L. Ranney of Sapulpa, Robert L. Ranney of Terlton and Vernon C. Ranney of Davenport; a daughter, Vivian L. Raney of Tulsa; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services for J. L. Roy Ranney were held today in the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Taylor officiating. Burial was in Mounds Cemetery.

He died Sunday at the Bartlett Memorial Medical Center. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
