Mrs. Ellen Mae Pledger, 84, of Fort Smith, formerly of Coal Hill, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Sparks Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Drumright, Okla., daughter of the late John and Bell Jackson Kilgore, a member of Bible Baptist Church in Fort Smith, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jean Pledger.

She is survived by three daughters, Pearlie Robertson and Irene Pledger, both of Fort Smith, and Ellen Estes of Van Buren; seven sons, Rev. Roy Pledger of Heavener, Okla., John Pledger of Kibler, Hughie Ray Pledger of Lavaca, George Pledger of Fort Smith, Rev. Kenneth Pledger of Middlesburg, Fla., Rev. Arthur Pledger of Homestead, Fla., and Joe Pledger of Jamestown, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 pm Wednesday, March 24, at the Coal Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Sheraves, Rev. Arthur Pledger and Joe Pledger officiatin

Burial was in Blanscet Cemetery at Altus under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Pallbearers were Tom Pledger, Carl Hanson, Walter Rinke, Bentley Yates, Wayne Pledger, Nathan Pledger, and David Pledger.
