James D. Nance Sr. of Tulsa died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at the age of 76.

He was born June 19, 1930 in Tulsa. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War, a retired Tulsa Fire Department Captain and member of the Carbondale Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Nance was preceded in death by first wife Aline and survived by wife Lois of the home.

He is also survived by children Michael Nance, Barbara Adams, Margaret Saffell, James D. Nance Jr., Ann Parrott, Jack Spratt and Joy Anderson.

Other survivors include grandchildren Andian, Aaron, Kendra, Elisabeth, Wyatt, Ethan, Jowellia, Mikayla, Russell, Teresa, Brian, Jeanine, Christina and Stephanie and 11 great-grandchildren as well as brother Hubert Nance.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Smith Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the Carbondale Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Phil Taylor officiating.

Interment will be in Mounds Cemetery under direction of the Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Nance will lie in state at the funeral home and the casket will not be opened at the service
