Minnie Jacobs Nagel

NAGEL - Minnie Jacobs (Mother Nagel), was born May 31, 1865, in Essen, Germany, and died February 18, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas. While in Germany she was married to Alex Seegar; to this union a daughter was born. At the age of twenty-three she came to America  and settled in Monongahela Valley, Pennsylvania.

It was here that she met and married Frederick Henry Nagel in 1905; two sons were born to them. Originally a Lutheran, she later became a member of the Hitite movement. She and her husband moved with that group to Kansas, where she first heard of the Reorganization. Following her baptism into the Reorganized Church the family moved to Oilton, Oklahoma, where she was instrumental in getting a branch of the church started.

In 1930 she returned to Kansas, where she became manager of the Prairie View Hotel in Hardtner. Many ministers recall her hospitality and good cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Elsa M. Kennedy of Graciom, Oregon; two sons: Carl Frederick Nagel of Longview, texas, and Benjamin Densmore Nagel of Bethany, Oklahoma; twenty-three grand children; fifty great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grand children.

Funeral services were held in Culbertson Chapel, Wichita, Kansas. Seventy James S. Menzies officiating. Interment was at Oilton, Oklahoma.
