Funeral services for Fred Larue Jordan were held Tuesday at 11am from the Assembly of God Church in Rush Springs. Rev Lonnie Harris, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Jordan, 66, died in his sleep at his home Thursday of last week. He was born Feb 22, 1919 in Shamrock, and was married to Maddie W Phillips in Carlsbad, NM on Oct 6,1964.

Jordan had lived in Rush Springs since 1966 and was a retired old field worker. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of the VFW, American Legion and the DAV.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include his wife, Maddie, of the home; on daughter, Marian Patrick of Depew; two step-sons, Eugene Phillips of Norfolk VA, and Carl Moulder of Rush Springs; one step-daughter, Carla Gamblin of Walters; one brother, Paul Jordan of Olney, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were members of the Rush Springs Redskins football team.

The Redskins lost one their most ardent football fans with the death of Fred Jordan.

I talked with Fred the night of the Redskin-Elmore City scrimmage and he was talking of the upcoming games this Friday night at Mountain View.

For 20 years Fred had attended every Redskin football game, both at home and away. He was anxious to begin his 21st year this Friday night at Mountain View.

It was truly fitting that members of the football team served as pallbearers.
