Walter James Jones, 60, 838 N. Moccasin, died Sunday, June 4, 1995 at St. John Medical Center from complications from cardiac surgery.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Randy Colbert, Jake Wildcat and George Jones Officiating. Burial will be in Little Cussetah Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.

He was born April 14, 1935 to Walter M. and Daisy Jones.

He married Dorothy Pierce on July 3, 1961.

He attended Sapulpa schools, Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and Northeastern State College, Tahlequah. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan for four years. He worked for Fibercast Co. in Sand Springs since 1960 and was manager of technical services.

He was a member of the Jaycees and served as Sapulpa city commissioner from 1972 to 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two daughters, Dr. Carla Jones, Phoenix, Ariz., and Dr. Gina Jones, Oklahoma City; and two brothers, Milton Jones, Broken Arrow, and George Jones, Helena, Montana.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest.

Walter James Jones

Born April 14, 1935 in Sapulpa, OK to Walter M. and Daisy Jones. Passed away on Sunday, June 4, 1995 at SJMC in Tulsa from complications of cardiac surgery. He was educated in Sapulpa and attended college at OK. State College, Stillwater and Northeastern State College, Tahlequah.

He served in the Army Intelligence and was stationed in Japan for 4 years. 

On July 3, 1961, he married Dorothy Pierce. He was manager of Technical Services for Fibercast Co. of Sand Springs and had worked for this company since 1960. Walter was active in the Jaycees and also served as City Commissioner in Sapulpa from 1972 through 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home. Two daughters, Dr. Carla Jones of Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Gina Jones of Oklahoma City. Two brothers, Milton of Broken Arrow, Geo. J. of Helena, Montana, 5 nephews, 4 nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother (the late Daisy Jones) and one brother (Ernest).

Survives are pending with Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa. Burial will be in Little Cussetah Indian Baptist Cemetery on Hilton Road, northeast of Sapulpa.

Services for Walter Jones were scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Randy Colbert, Jake Wildcat and George Jones officiating. Burial will be in Little Cussetah Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Phillip Jones, John Newman, Charles Hester, Kelly Jones, Dee Jones and Harry Porter.

Honorary bearers were Melvin Pierce, Elmer Pierce, Lauren Pierce, Tom “Kotch” Bosen and Scott Bosen. Smith Funeral 
Home is in charge of arrangements.
