Mr. William Rex Johnston, 68, Mounds, died today at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Services are pending with Owen Funeral Home.

He was born June 11, 1918, in Fulton County, Ark. Mr. Johnston worked for the Mid-America Stock Yards for 11 years before retiring.

He moved to the Mounds area from Arkansas in 1922.

Survivors include wife Dorothy; sons William L. of Sapulpa and Michael E of Mounds; daughter Mrs. Richard (Annetta Mae) Wynn of Tulsa; sisters Dorothy Nelson and Mary Lou Windfield both of Sapulpa, and Dolly Mae Hankins of Ethrata, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services for William Rex Johnston will be 10:30 am Monday at First Baptist Church, Mounds, with the Revs. Harry Dodd and Jim Ray officiating. Burial will follow at South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be John Varner, Jeff Varner, Sammy Dean Varner, Todd Johnson, Curt Johnson and Eddie VanDolah.

Honorary bearers will be George Boaz, Jerry Varner, Hurb Barnhart, Bernard Barnhart, Guy Myers and Darrell Wright.

Mr. Johnston, a resident of the Mounds area since 1922, died Thursday at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.
