The Rev. Dr. Lyndon M. Jackson, 82, died July 15, 2003, in Dallas.
He was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Oilton, Okla. He was a graduate of Austin College and Austin Seminary, and was awarded an honorary doctorate from Arkansas College in 1987.

He was a retired minister who served several churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. He served 13 years at Spring River Presbyterian Church and retired to Cherokee Village in 1986. He was active in Spring River Entertainment Association, Lions Club, Ministerial Alliance and in area arts and crafts fairs. His paintings hang at First National Bank of Hardy, Spring River Presbyterian Church and in numerous area homes.

He was a humble and gentle man of many interests and talents: a lover of nature, especially birds; a wood carver, photographer and painter; an avid reader and prolific e-mailer; gifted teacher and pastor who was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Clara Vere; a brother, Gene Jackson; a sister, Betty Foster; a son, Lawrence, and his wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Janet, and her husband, Sandy; a son-in-law, Al Hindall; four grandchildren -- Jenna, Kara, Elaine and Stephanie; two great-grandchildren -- Stephen and Gary.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Hindall.

A memorial service was held at Glendale Presbyterian Church in Dallas July 18.

The body was donated to UT Southwestern Medical School.
