Oilton Pioneer Is Taken By Death

Mrs. Lucy Ann Holland, 80, was laid to rest Thursday afternoon, January 19, in the Jennings Cemetery, following funeral services at 2 pm in the Oilton Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Womack, pastor, officiated.

Peck's funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Walter Posey, Sr., Claude Robinson, Martie Wardlow, George Wood, Art Rickner, and a sixth person, not selected at the time the information was obtained.

Music for the service included "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Good Night Down Here, Good Morning Up There."

Mrs. Holland died at her home at 7:30 pm Tuesday, January 17, after an illness of four years. Death resulted from carcinoma of the stomach. Members of her family and neighbors were with her at the time of death.

Mrs. Holland was born July 18, 1876, in Wise County, Texas. Her first husband, George Caldwell, died in 1908. She was married to Hiram Holland September 16, 1916, in Sapulpa. Mrs. Holland had moved to Oilton in 1910 and had lived there for 46 years. She was a charter member of the Oilton Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving relatives are her husband, Hiram, of the home; two sons and four daughters, 16 grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Sons are Charles Caldwell of Coffeyville, KS and Andy Caldwell of San Angelo, TX. Daughters are Fannie Holland of Oilton; Matilda Casey of Claremore; May Van Thuyle of Gunnison, CO; and Marie Brown of Brownsville, TX.
