Jimmy Lee Hackney

On November 4, 1946 a baby boy was born to Roberta "Bert" and Eugene Hackney Sr. in Sapulpa, OK. His father, Eugene Hackney, Sr., grandparents John and Lillie Oates preceded him in death.

Jimmy Lee began his education at Booker T. Washington School and later attended Sapulpa High School.

In 1963, he joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country until 1976 with an honorable discharge. Jimmy Lee was also a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for the U.S. Postal Services for several years.

Jimmy Lee grew up attending Calvary Baptist Church, where as an adult he served as an usher and in other capacities. He was an active member of the Fidelity Lodge #136, holding the position of Tyler. He also served as Worthy Patron with the Carnation Chapter Eastern Star.

He leaves to cherish his memories - his wife, Wynne Hackney, his parents, Walter & Roberta "Bert" Dansby, stepmother, Augusta Montgomery. He also leaves four daughters, Kelly, Shaka, Tearra, and Maria; three sons, Jimmy Jr., Elmer "Tuffy", and Christopher "Chip", and three grandchildren. 

He is survived by seventeen siblings - six brothers, Eugene Jr. (Marian), Andy (Crystal) of Tulsa, OK. Rickey (Cathy), and Bernard (Terri) of Sapulpa, OK, Fred (Winnie) of El Paso, TX, Reginald (Lenora) of Brooklyn Park, MN - eleven sisters, Etta (Elmer), Toni (Joe), Janaice (David), and Michelle of Tulsa, OK, Sarah (Calvin) of Burnsville, MN, Katie (Andrew), Anginetta, Danita, and Karla of Sapulpa, OK, Vanessa (Willie) of College Park, GA, Sue (Artis) of Fort Worth, TX, a great aunt Willie Lee Goff, two aunts - Peggy Reese and Evelyn Hawkins, two great uncles - Claude and Mago Johnson, three uncles - Stanford, Mickey and Rudolph Johnson; one adopted sister, Lela Yarbrough Shaw, a very devoted friend, Joyce Colbert; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
