SAND SPRINGS — Longtime area resident Sylvia E. Firey, 68, died Sep 12, in Chippewa Falls Wis.

Funeral services were held Sep 17, in Mannford Assembly of God with the Rev. Don Couch officiating.

Graveside services were held at Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs with the Revs. Bob Sullivan and Tim Pitts officiating.

She was born in Knickerbocker, Texas, Oct 6, 1922 and married John Kenneth Firey on Nov 25, 1946. The couple lived in the Rock Creek community southwest of Sand Springs.

Mrs. Firey co-owned and operated the Farmers Union Insurance Agency with her husband since 1976. She was also a former unit sales manager for Stanley Home Products. She served for many years as secretary-treasurer for Rock Creek Pentecostal Assembly of God and was an officer for the Tulsa County Farmers Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 6, 1989.

Survivors include sons Bill Firey, David Firey, Steve Firey, John Firey and Ray Firey of Sand Sprigs; daughter Linda Spess of Mannford; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
