Hoyt Bruce Duncan, 73, of Sapulpa, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002. He was born April 17, 1929 at Wister to Emmett and Jane Duncan. He married Ada Hardy Aug. 31, 1952. He grew up in Wister, joined the United States Navy in December 1950 and served four years during the Korean War. He attended Poteau Junior College and Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant and graduated with a masters degree in education. He was a school administrator at Calvin, Cement and Kiefer, also working in plant management at Glenpool Schools, where he retired in 1988. He also served on the Oklahoma Secondary Activities Association Board of Directors. Mr. Duncan was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Calvin and Cement Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years; two sons, Bruce Duncan and wife Kathy and Dennis Duncan and wife Lee Ann; one daughter, Threase Anderson and husband Larry; one brother, Harold Duncan and wife Jan of Poteau; one sister, Modean Smith, also of Poteau; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Maxey Cemetery near Wister with the Rev. LeRoy Billy officiating, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Sapulpa.
