DOWNEY
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Mrs. Clyde (Ruth J.) Downey, 69, of Tulsa, died Saturday
in San Antonio, Texas of an apparent heart attack while visiting her daughter.
Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday in Owen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.
Harold Bryan officiating.
Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Okla.
Casket bearers will be Dan Taylor, Dr. Ben Hazlett, Bill Barnes, Bill Taylor and
Aaron Whitworth.
She was born March 19, 1919, in Glenwood Springs, Colo., and married Clyde
Downey on Dec 13, 1952, in Seminole. The Downey’s moved to Sapulpa in 1969
from Ardmore, Okla.
Mrs. Downey was a retired teacher from the Washington Elementary School in
Sapulpa and a member of the Oklahoma Education Association.
She also was a member of the National Education Association and the First
Baptist Church of Sapulpa.
Survivors include, husband Clyde; son Jim of Rome, Georgia; daughter Helen
Taylor of San Antonio; and three grandchildren.
