DONA CUMMINGS

Dona Myrel Cummings, 77, died Wednesday in Tulsa.

Private family funeral service arrangements are pending with Moore’s Southlawn Funeral Home, Tulsa.

She was born in Viola, Ark. On Dec. 16, 1914, and was a graduate of Carthage High School, Carthage, Mo. She received her bachelors of science degree from Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, in 1946. She taught school at Pleasant Hill in Tahlequah and 10 years in the Bowden Country School. She retired after 20 years as a third grade teacher at Washington Elementary in Sapulpa. She was a member of the Allen Freewill Baptist Church, Delta kappa Gamma Sorority, and the Oklahoma Education Association. She enjoyed writing skits and poetry for school programs and other teacher.

She was preceded in death by husband John J. Cummings in 1975 and brother James A. Langley in 1973.

Survivors include sisters Leta Redmon of Liberty, Mo., and Mable Caldron of Tulsa; and brother Henry A. Langley of Jenks.
