Funeral services were held for Maxine Cox recently at Little’s Funeral Chapel in Purcell, with Jack Gilliland officiating.

Burial followed at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.

Maxine Cox died at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Norman after a long illness. She was born Oct 17, 1913, in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended school in Fort Worth. Cox was a homemaker. She moved to Purcell in April 1985 from Evening Shade, Ark. Prior to living in Evening Shade, she lived in Borger and Pampa, Texas. She married Arthur Cox on Feb 6, 1931, in Sapulpa. She was a member of the Jackson and Green Avenue Church of Christ in Purcell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Grace Eliot Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; son, Stanley Cox of Carrolton, Texas; daughter, Joy Henderson, Gruver, Texas; sisters, Nadine Schmitz and Oma Lee Cowherd; brother, Harold Lloyd Brown; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Leslie Cox, Scott and Dennis Henderson, Charles Tanner, Bobby Schmitz and Carlton Stovall.

Honorary casket bearers were Dr. James Hanlon, Dr. Rick Schmidt, Christopher Cox, Wayne Thomas and the staff of the Four Seasons Nursing Home.

Arthur R. Cox, 83, died Monday, March 27, 1995 in Purcell.

Funeral services were held March 30 at Little’s Funeral Home. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at Purcell.

Mr. Cox was born Oct. 4, 1911 in Mundill, AR to Charles F. and Nannie Schnitzer Cox. He married Maxine Brown Feb. 6, 1931 in Sapulpa.

Mr. Cox was a preacher in the Jackson and Greene Avenue Church of Christ in Purcell at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Cox of Carrollton, TX; a daughter, Joy Lee Henderson of Gruver, TX; a sister, Ruth Tanner of Sapulpa; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Leslie Cox, Christopher Cox, Dennis Henderson, Billy Cathey, Carleton Stovall and Scot Henderson.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Thomas, Charles Tanner, Gus Hampton, Gene Stovall, Charles Waldo and Everett Shackleford.
