D. Edward Cotner, 74, was born Aug. 17, 1927 in Poteau, the son of John Arthur and Mary Washington Rupe Cotner. He died at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.

Edward Cotner was a 1946 graduate of Bixby High School. He was married to the former Rose Rosamond on Sept. 6, 1947 at Bossier City, La. They moved to Mounds in 1972 from Jenks.

Mr. Cotner owned and operated Cotner Heating and Air for some 25 years, selling the business in 1976. He also owned and managed several pieces of commercial property in the Sapulpa area.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he had served in the United States Army. He was a Creek County Reserve Deputy for 21 years and was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Sapulpa Bible Church.

Mr. Cotner held a private pilot's license.

He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, fishing, antique auto shows and flying.

Mr. Conter is survived by his wife, Rose Cotner, of the home; daughters, Donna Roberts of Mounds and Mary Ann Wilson and her husband, Kaye, of Plymouth, Mich.; a son, Ronald Cotner and his wife, Fern, of Shonto, Ariz.; grandchildren, Amy and Aaron, Aaron and Brandy, Jolene, Brian, Krystal, Brian and Margaret, Angela and Steve, Matt and Jason; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Meredith, Madeline, Steven and Mikayla.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle, Eva "Evie" and Willie Belle; and brothers, Leon, Pat and John.

Services were to be held at 10 a.m. today in the Sapulpa Bible Church with the Revs. Mike Fanning and Roy Emmojns officiating. Burial will be in Bixby Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home of Broken Arrow.
