Mr. Everett S. Collins, 78, 1 Woodland Road, died Sunday at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa.

Services are planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Connell Ghormley and Herman Ging officiating.

Burial will be at South Heights Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1910, in Indianola, Okla. and married Virginia Hermes in 1936 in Sapulpa.

He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Oklahoma City University and the Cumberland Law School in Lebanon, Tenn.

Mr. Collins was a member of the First United Methodist church, a member and past exalted ruler of Sapulpa Elk Lodge #1118, member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce.

He was a former Creek County district attorney and served as a state senator for 16 years and was president pro tempore of the senate during his final term.

Survivors include wife Virginia; mother Mrs. T. W. Collins of Tullahoma, Tenn.; daughters Kay Hill of Tullahoma and Nancy Bass of Sapulpa; son Steve of Carmel, Ind.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
