Horace H. (Chuck) Childress, 67, Muskogee, died Saturday at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday at Muskogee First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Woods officiating.

Burial will follow at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

He was born Jan 18, 1926, in Elk City. He married Audrey Saylors on July 8, 1978. Childress was a retired manager for Kinney Shoes and a resident of Sapulpa from 1979 to 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Muskogee, IOOF, Canton and Rebecca Lodge 64. From 1988 to 1989 he was Sovereign Grandmaster of the World of IOOF, in 1978 he was Grandmaster of Oklahoma and was awarded the Grand Decoration of Chilvalry for the IOOF.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; daughters, Jo Boyne of Fort Gibson, Patsy Saylors of Muskogee and Nancy Murphy of Inola; son, Brandon Childress of Muskogee; brothers, Robert of Fort Worth, Texas, and Herman of Dallas, Texas; sister, Phyllis Daniels of Las Cruces, new Mexico; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Horace (Chuck) Childress were held today at 2 at First Baptist Church in Muskogee with Dr. Robert Woods officiating.

Burial followed at South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Serving as casket bearers were Richard Wilson, Rodney Wilson, Rocky Arrasmith, Jess Carlton, Joe Kathy and Bill Standridge.

Honorary bearers were Ben Brook, Glenn Baldwin, Everett Murphy, Dub Bryson, Scott Norean and Roy Spears.

Childress died Saturday at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.
