Mr. William (Bill) B. Boone, 70, died today at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Services will be 10 am Thursday at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. DeWitt Boyce officiating.

Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Mr. Boone was born Jan 18, 1917, in Stillwater. He moved to Sapulpa from Cushing in 1948.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Rotary Club, Elks Lodge and various other civic organizations. He was a member of the Vestry of the church and formerly served on the board of directors of the Chambers of Commerce in Bristow, Sapulpa and Drumright. He also served on the first Sapulpa Creek County planning committee and is past president of the Sapulpa United Way.

Mr. Boone is a graduate from Oklahoma A&M College.

After his retirement, he picked up his art career and was listed with the Gilgrease Museum and showed his talents at Philbrook Art Museum, Tulsa, and at the American Association of Artists in Paris, France. He also was a member of the Southwestern Art Association and International Society of Artists.

Mr. Boone served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a naval destroyer.

In 1971, he retired as group manager of the Creek County Southwestern Bell office after 35 years of service.

Survivors include wife Ursula; daughter Carole Boone of Arlington, Texas; son O. Birch of Atherton, Calif.; brother Paul L. Boone of Shawnee; and four grandchildren.

Family requests donations be made to the church fund, in lieu of other remembrances.
