Dee Ausmus, Sr., 95, of Sapulpa, died Monday at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

He was born Feb 5, 1897, in Fincastle, Tenn. A long time Sapulpa resident, he was a Navy Veteran of World War I, a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sapulpa Elks Lodge. Mr. Ausmus was also a former Creek County Sheriff for 12 years and a building contractor.

He is survived by his sons, Dee Ausmus, Jr., of Sapulpa and Bobby Joe Ausmus of Tahlequah; daughters, Nadine Goodwin of Tahlequah and Wanda Lambert of Sapulpa; 18 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dee Ausmus Sr. Will be held at 10 am Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. T. Howard Allen and Don Price officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be H. L. Goodwin, Dan Ausmus, Jim Ausmus, Randy Hale, Robert Ausmus, Duane Snapp and Robert Ausmus.

Honorary bearers will be Ryan Slaton, Todd Stickler, Ed Williams, Wasie Hampton, David Young, Dub Smith, David Ausmus, Bill Stickler, and Don Acree.

Memorials may be made to Sapulpa American Legion Post.
