Creek County Neighbors
That portion before 1907 known as Creek Nation, Indian Territory, was divided into the following:
 
 Lincoln Co. Okfuskee Co.
 Okmulgee Co. Osage Co. 
 Pawnee Co. Payne Co.
 Tulsa Co.
We are not affiliated with any of the County or City Offices.

Creek County in east-central Oklahoma was created at statehood [1907].  Intended to be named Moman County in honor of the mother of Moman Pruiett, the name was changed at the last moment by the Constitutional Convention; in the alphabetical list of counties in the copy of the constitution, Creek County appears following Mayes County.

Named for the Creek Nation. The word is from the term "Ochese Creek Indians," used by the early British settlers.
