SMITH
Edward SMITH, age 88, died in Tulsa at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Etta BIBY, Sunday morning after a brief illness. The body was returned here
by the Roberts Undertakers where the funeral was held at the Pentecostal
church Tuesday afternoon and burial made in the city cemetery.
Mr. SMITH ran a blacksmith shop here for several years. He is survived by
the daughter and three sons, Robert SMITH and Ben SMITH of this city and
Ray SMITH of Huntsville, Arkansas.

SHACKELFORD
Our little city and community suffered a sad shock in the sudden death of
Larry SHACKELFORD, well know young man of our city, who died suddenly Wednesday
evening about 7 o'clock of a heart attack.
Mr. SHACKELFORD was in his brothers hardware store when stricken and death
came in a few minutes.
He was a member of a prominent family, had lived here most of his life and
his death is a sad shock to all.
He leaves his mother, brother, wife, son and a daughter, of the immediate
family, other relatives and a large host of friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral arrangements have not been complete at the time we go to press.

BUMBALOW
Funeral services for Charles BUMBALOW, 43, who died at his home here Sunday
morning after a long illness, were held at the Pentecostal Holiness church
on Monday afternoon with Rev. John BUNNELL, officiating. Burial was in the
Baptist Mission cemetery, four miles north of town.
Mr. BUMBALOW was born in Washington county, Arkansas, the son of the late
Dock BUMBALOW, but had been a resident of this community most of his life.
Survivors include the widow, five daughters, one son, three sisters and one
brother.
1938
HICKS
J.H. HICKS, prominent citizen of this city and Justice of the Peace of
this township, died Wednesday evening at his home following a paralytic stroke
suffered last week.
Mr. HICKS has been a resident of this section for several years, has been
a leader in civic affairs, held various offices and was one of our most prominent
citizens.
The funeral arrangements are not complete as we go to press but will likely
be held at Siloam Springs Friday afternoon with burial at the Westville cemetery.
1938
SANDERS
Charley SANDERS, well known Proctor citizen, died in the Indian hospital
at Tahlequah Saturday from injuries said to have been received in a fight
near Christie some two weeks ago. Glen GROOMS of Proctor was arrested on
a charge of striking SANDERS. SANDERS leave a widow and nine children.
