George, son of Charles and Nora GOADE, was born Oct 9, 1907 in Sweetwater. George married Otha Leona HILLEY, Nov 15, 1930 at Mangum.
He was proceded in death by his parents, one son; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; five daughters; one son; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosa CRANE; Cally ASABELL.

Funeral for Charles "Shorty" Ardell MERRELL, 56, Chickasha, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 1992, in Brown-Binyon Funeral Home Chapel.
Charles Ardell MERRELL was born December 13, 1935 in Chickasha, the son of George G. MERRELL and Ethel OGDEN MERRELL. He died July 4, 1992 in Oklahoma City.
At 17, he joined the US army, serving his country for 22 years. He served during Korean and Vietnam, receiving the following medals: National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Expert Rifle in Vietnam, Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal Clasp, and the Bronze Four Loops. Charles was honorable discharged in 1973.
He was preceded in death by his father, George G. MERRELL in November, 1966; his mother, Ethel MERRELL WILLIAMS, in August 1989; one brother, James L. MERRELL, in December 1982, and daughter and granddaughter, Charlene and Shelley Dean WILLIAMS, in May 1976.
Interment will be in Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, OK.

She was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Fletcher, the daughter of Eliza and Bertha MEVILLE. She died early Monday, July 6, 1996, in St. Joseph Hospital, Atlanta, GA.
She moved from Fletcher to Chickasha when she was four years of age. She married Harry HOLCOMB on June 12, 1930. She was a church organist at First United Methodist Church, Groesbeck, Texas, for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. HOLCOMB, in December 1986.

He was born April 14, 1924, in Cement, the son of James Randall GIBSON and Mary Almeda HILL GIBSON. He died July 6, 1992 in Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha.
On Oct. 31, 1947 he married Peggy Lorene COOK in Cyril. He served in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatrs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Oren and Bill GIBSON.

Anna Mae COOK services held Monday. Anna Mae COOK, formerly of Holdenville, died Saturday, September 5 in Seminole Municipal Hospital in Seminole at the age of 92.
She was born March 1,1900 in   Marietta, Oklahoma Indian Territory, to Mary Ann RUSSIAN DAVIS and John M. DAVIS. She lived in the Calvin area for a number of years and had lived in Holdenville seven years. She was married to James William COOK, April 25, 1919 and he preceded her in death February 4, 1959.
Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law; 17 grandchildren; numerous great -grandchildren; one brother; and two daughters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by four sons, William T., Lewis C., Doyle and Don COOK; also four brothers, Billy DAVIS, George DAVIS, Sherman DAVIS, and Charlie DAVIS, and one sister, Hazel DAVIS.
Funeral services were held in the Hudson Funeral Home chapel, Monday September 7th at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Darren York officiating. Burial was in Hilltop Cemetery under the direction of Hudson Funeral Home.

She married Elige J. CHASTAIN, August 6, 1932 at McAlester and had lived in Sulphur the past four years, moving here from Krum, TX.
Survivors include her husband Elige CHASTAIN; five daughters, Nancy CHASTAIN, Bertha THOMAS, Leola WOODS, Katheryn SEWELL, and Mary SHOCKLEY; four sons, James, Joe, Kenneth and Jackie CHASTAIN; two sisters Minnie [RAMSEY] and Veatrice [DAVIDSON]; one brother, Joe MARSHALL, 40 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feburary 1, 1994 at 10:00 a.m. at Clagg Funeral Home. Interment was in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Larry THOMAS, pastor of Elgin Assembly of God Church, officiating. He died Friday morning at his home in Fletcher after a lengthy illness. Burial was in Sterling Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher.
He was born in Garber, Oklahoma, on March 12, 1908, and had lived in that area until moving to Fletcher in 1921 with his parents. He had lived in the Elgin-Sterling-Fletcher area since that time. He married Mildred Bernice ETTER in Mar 1951, in Lawton and worked for L.D. WHITLOCK Trucking from 1952 until 1961. He also worked in the oil and gas fields. He retired in 1961.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home; 3 daughters; 3 sons; 1 brother; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Millie BARTLETT; 1 son, Carol Ward; 4 brothers; Floyd, Charlie, Dane, and Herbie, and 2 sisters; Eunice MC MURTRY and Mabel KELLY.

Robert WHITLEY, pastor of Assembly of God Church, Fletcher, officiating. Mrs. SEYMOUR died Tuesday, February 26, 1995, in a Lawton nursing home. Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery, Rush Springs, Oklahoma, under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher.
She was born April 5, 1907, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She was raised east of Duncan. She attended Gatlin School north of Duncan. She married John H. SEYMOUR on August 16, 1925, in Rush Springs. They lived in Fletcher from 1932 until 1959. Her husband died May 19, 1959. She then moved to Lawton where she had lived since. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Fletcher.
Survivors include a son, 1 brother, 2 sisters; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by 1 son, Melvin L. SEYMOUR, in January 1977.

Mr. Richardson died Thursday in a Marlow nursing home. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, Marlow.
He was born December 22, 1901, in Rossville, Kansas. He had lived in the Marlow area since 1910. He married Bertha E. AUTRY on November 23, 1924. She died March 28, 1980. He married Flora E. GOOD on November 15, 1983, in Marlow. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He had been a member of Denton Baptist Church, west of Marlow, since 1923.

Mrs. SEYMOUR was born November 11, 1895, in Tage, Texas. She married Charlie R. SEYMOUR February 4, 1914, in Oklahoma City. He died May 26, 1973. They moved to the Apache area in 1918 and lived and farmed in the Doyle community until they moved into Apache in 1939. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Apache and was active in the children and youth ministries, taught Sunday School and participated in a mission program with local Indian women and children.
Survivors include 2 daughters, 2 sons, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was born December 29, 1922, in Rush Springs, and grew up in the Fletcher area where she lived most of her life. In 1984, Mrs ALLBAUGH moved to Moffett. She was a homemaker. She married George ALLBAUGH September 22, 1941, in Fletcher Mrs.ALLBAUGH was a member of Fire House Pentecostal Church, Arkoma.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; 2 sons, 3 daughters, her father, 1 brother, a half sister, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was born January 26, 1936, in San Bernardino, California. He was raised in the Fletcher-Cyril. he had lived in El Paso, Texas, and later in New Mexico and due to his ill health moved to Georgetown, Texas, in May of 1991. He was married to Georgia SMITH and later to Cordia BAILEY. Mr. SEYMOUR was a great enthusiast of Grey Hound racing and was a member of Texas and National Grey Hound Association for many years.
Survivors include his wife, 6 daughters, 1 son, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Thomas Calvin, Alvin Ray, William Jackson "Jack", Walter Robert "Bob", and Todd, 2 sisters, Betty SIMPSON and Sharon K. SEYMOUR, and 1 grandson, Pete BOYCE.

He lived most of his life in and around Durant. He once served as deputy sheriff under Bill TEMPLETON. He married Willie Belle RICHIE on Feb. 19, 1919, in Bryan County.br> He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 11, 1990, his parents, one daughter, Tommy Jean: two brothers, George and Noel ROBINSON, and three sisters, Gertrude , Polly , and Nell.
Survivors include four sons, Hanford , O'Neal, Roy and Doyle, daughter Lucille; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, including two granddaughters that he and Mrs. ROBINSON raised, Jerri and Faye.

Funeral services for Steve N. COOK, 75, of Enid will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995 in the Anderson-King Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Christopher England and the Rev. Clarence Glaze officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-King Funeral Home.
COOK was born to Steve and Addie COOK January 21, 1920 at Luther. He passed away Dec. 20, 1995 at the St. Marys Mercy Hospital in Enid. COOK and Eldora F. JAMES were married in Enid February 14, 1973. He worked at Long's John Deere in Garber 2 1/2 years. A mechanic for 21 years at Perkins and two years in Guthrie. In 1968, he moved back to Garber and then to Enid in 1973 and retired from Geo. E. Failings in 1987. He was a member of the Cedar Ridge Weslyn Methodist Church and past member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; three sons; two daughters; three sisters; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Katy Belle STEVENS, three brothers, two sisters and one great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar Ridge Weslyan and First Love church in his name through the funeral home.

BAKER died Jan. 20, 1996, in the local hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1909, at Coalgate, to James G. and Jennie BAKER. He had lived in Ardmore most of his life and was an elder and deacon at Calvary Presbyterian Church. He founded Cashway Lumber Co. in 1955. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Teresa (Pat) GLENNON. He and Mattie FOX WOOD were married Oct. 10, 1973, at Whitewright, Texas.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe, Ardmore; daughters, Mary WHATLEY and Kathy BAKER; stepdaughter, Carol J. THOMASON; a brother, Albert, Pasadena, Texas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bearers will be grandsons Jim and Jerry BAKER, Ray and Mike LAIRD, and Robert and Russell THOMASON.

Mrs. JACOBI died in a Lawton nursing home Sunday evening, January 19, 1997, from a length illness.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and came to the Sterling area with her parents at age seven. She married Oscar Joseph JACOBI in Sterling in 1916. They operated a general merchandise store in Sterling for many years. Mr. JACOBI preceded her in death in 1960. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sterling.
Survivors include 2 daughters, 1 son, 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Oscar JACOBI, Jr., and one daughter, Helen JOHNSON.

Worked in family "cafe" in Guthrie, with mother. Attended Guthrie High School. Graduated w/teaching degree from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO.
Survived by wife Kay BERGMAN-ATWOOD of of Woodland Park, CO., daughter Kelly ATWOOD of San Rafael, CA., Gwynaeth ATWOOD-PETTIT of Novato, CA., and son Charles ATWOOD of San Rafael, CA. Grand-daughter Antonia Marcel PETTIT. Mr. ATWOOD'S ashes were buried in Roselawn cemetary in Mulhull.

Surrey Hills Home and Garden Club Meets
The June 10 meeting of the Surrey Hills Home and Garden Club was hosted by Rita BUFORD at her home. Rita gave a most entertaining program on Shade Gardening, recommending several books on the subject and concluding with a tour of her home gardens.
Members enjoyed a delightful time viewing the front and side shade garden, as well as the myriad of flowers, plants, ground covers and herbs growing profusely in the back gardens. Every plant was identified and discussed at length.
Following the tour of the gardens, members retired to the dining room, whey they were treated to a variety of delicious refreshments.
Present at the meeting were: Joyce GAIGE, Anne MORGAN, Helen Ruth PARKER, Melva SEXTON, Scarlett FIELDS, Jan WESTPHAL, Connie SPENCER, Maxine PURSER, JoAnn FREEMAN, and Nancy AHA. The business meeting, conducted by President Scarlett FIELDS, included a discussion on the Christmas Bazaar, to be held December 7, at the Surrey Hills Golf Clubhouse. Treasurer, Beverly MORGAN, passed out copies of the Treasurer's Report.
The Surrey Hills Home and Garden will meet next in July, at the home of Kathy REID. Tim Fields will conduct a program on Flower Arranging.

Surrey Hills Lion's Club Installs Officers for Upcoming Year The Surrey Hills Lion's Club installed their new officers for the coming year during ceremonies at the June meeting, held in the pavilion at Lion's Park.
New officers for the year, which begins in July, are: Lynn WILSON, President; JoAnn GRAHMAN, Treasurer, and Ray FISHER, Secretary.
Installation of these officers was performed by Lion Governor Craig HADLEY, of Lawton. Hadley also installed new members to the club: Ken MORGAN and Richard FAHY, both residents of Surrey Hills.
The Surrey Hills Lion's Club was organized in 1973. Since that time, the club has continued to serve the Surrey Hills community. Its many activities include the purchase of the flag pole, located at the entrance to the community, and the maintenance of a flag on the pole, together with a night spotlight. The windy weather requires that the flag be replaced at least three times a year, each time at a cost of $75.
The Lion's Club also sponsors the Easter Egg Hunt, which the children look forward to each year. They also sponsor the Peace Poster Contest, held each year at the Surrey Hills Elementary School. The club awards a $25 U.S. Savings Bond to the winner, whose poster is then sent on for state competition.
The Lion's Club also supports the annual Yukon High School graduation class party. This party has been organized for the purpose of eliminating accidents caused by the excess use of alcoholic beverages. It has been a very successful project, and is attended by over 95 percent of the graduating class members.
Lion's Club members also pick up trash on Nowthwest Highway, between Mustang Road and Morgan Road (a distance of 2 miles) at least three times a year. The Club also provides eye glasses to members of the greater community who cannot afford them.
As most members of the community know, the Lion's Club owns and maintains the Lion's Park and pavilion, located on Hefner Road. Each year, the club attempts to improve the park. Last year, water and electric service were supplied to the pavilion. This coming year, plans are being made to add a fireplace to the pavilion, in addition to other small improvements in the park.
In addition to local community projects, the club also supports the various projects run at the State and National levels.

Mr. HALE was born October 10, 1966, in Lawton. He attended schools in Lawton and Sterling. He lived in Lawton most of his life. He had lived in Dallas the past year.

Walters---Funeral for Kenneth "Ert" RUYLE, 91, Walters, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church of Walters with Dr. James Brock officiating. Mr. RUYLE died Monday in a Walters nursing home. Burial will be in the Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters.
He was born Sept. 22, 1904, in Walters. He grew up west of Walters and graduated from Walters High School. He married Mary J. LEWIS on Feb. 9, 1930, in Oklahoma City. Mr. RUYLE worked in the oilfield, farmed and was a dairyman. he was also employed by the state highway department, retiring after several years at Walters and then at Ardmore, where he worked as an inspector during the building of Interstate 35. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder for many years.

Funeral services for Claudia Beatress STONE, 85, of Vista, Calif., were Friday. Mrs. STONE died March 15 in Vista following several years of declining health.
Mrs. STONE was born Jan. 9, 1912, in Madill and was reared in the Enos area. She and Luther William STONE married August 23, 1930, in Madill. They moved to Oceanside, Calif., in 1941, where she spent the remainder of her life. Mrs. STONE was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her childrel; five half brothers; five half sisters; a step-brother and step-sister, ; 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 15, 1981; three sons, James STONE  in 1995,  Choice STONE in 1996, and Roy STONE; a daughter, Arva Jean STONE in 1944; and two brothers, William Paul EASLEY in 1944, and Garvis Pete EASLEY in 1996.
Services were in Watts Memorial Chapel with Larry Logan officiating. Music was arranged by the Church of Christ singers. Burial was in the Willis Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.

TIPTON Korean War veteran Jimmy Ray TIPTON, Tecumseh died Saturday February 22, 1997, in Shawnee Regional Hospital from terminal cancer. He was 66 years old.
Jimmy was born in Macomb, to John and Bertha (COCK) TIPTON, and attended school in Macomb, where he was reared. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Constance B. CARLSON on May 6, 1965 in Mexico. He also lived in Beaumont CA and Twakne, Texas. While working with General Telephone and Contel Telephone as a telephone installer and repaiman until his retirement. He lived in Tecumseh since 1987. Jimmy was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church, the American Legion Hill-Huett Post No. 260 of Tecumseh and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Tecumseh.
He was preceded in death my his parents. (John Wiley TIPTON II, and Bertha Mae (COCK) TIPTON.
Service were held at 1pm Tuesday at the Sharon Baptist Church in Tecumseh. The Rev. Clint DAWKINS officiated. Burial was at Prairie View Cemetery in Macomb, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Mr. FORGUSON was born May 21, 1935, in Willis here he lived until 1955, when he moved to Fort Worth. He and the former Joyce PETERS married Oct. 29, 1955, in Gainesville, Texas. He worked many years as a machinist for Bell Helicopter-Textron Company. He returned to Willis in 1975. He was a Master Mason, Belonging to the Masonic Lodge #942.
Services were in the Willis Baptist Church with Von WEAVER and Gary DEMPSEY officiating. Music was arranged by Sue BRUMLEY. Burial was in the Willis Cemetery under the direction of Willis Funeral Home, Madill.

Jennie Mae DAVIS, 91, a longtime Hughes County, Oklahoma resident, died in Coffeyville, Tuesday, (September 2, 1997).
She was born in Parker County, Texas, on July 21, 1906, to Milford and Hattie SHORT. She was reared in Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma in the early 1930s. She had lived in the Horntown, Okla., Calvin, Okla., Stuart, Okla.,and Gerty, Okla., areas for the past 70 years. Mrs. DAVIS was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Holdenville, Okla. She was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas COOK, in 1965 and also her second husband, John DAVIS, who died in 1997.
She is survived by three sons; five daughters; 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Lloyd COOK, Dorothy REESE and Ernest COOK.
Services were held on September 4. Interment was in the Hilltop Cemetery under the direction of the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home

DENOYHA, HALL, HENRY

Pawnee County: The Pawnee Chief, Wednesday, September 17, 1997

Robert HALL was swimming on May 31, with his children at Sooner Swim Lake & Beach when he noticed a man at the water's edge. The man was trying to revive 2-year-old Robert Dale DENOYHA, who had apparently drowned.
As a Pawnee County volunteer fireman, HALL launched into action.
He discovered that DENOYHA wasn't breathing, was blue, and had no pulse. He also had food in his mouth, so HALL first cleaned out his airway and began performing C.P.R. "The boy looked like he was in shock," HALL said."He looked glassey eyed. After I worked on him for awhile, his color started coming back, so we took the wet towels off of him and waited for the ambulance."
Along with the ambulance came Noble County Under Sheriff Ray HENRY. He said he's grateful that HALL knew just what to do upon finding the child in distress. "If Robert hadn't performed C.P.R on that little boy, he may have died," HENRY said. The little boy was taken by ambulance to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Ponca City.

Mrs. LIGHTFOOT, 83, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997 in Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1914 in Avant to Edgar and Ethel Lee OKERSON STUTZ. She moved to Muskogee from Sapulpa in 1992. She was a Methodist.

Neil Richard HILL
Funeral services for Neil Richard HILL will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 at the Glenwood Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Rick McElhannon officiating. Mr. HILL died at St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas on Nov. 1, 1997 at the age of 77. Burial will be in the Green Hill Memorial Gardens under the direction of Green Hill Funeral Home.
He was born May 19, 1920 in Leonard to John L. and Bradus HEDGES HILL. At the age of 17, he joined the CC comp and at 18 he moved to Illinois with his father to work in the oil fields. Mr. HILL was a U.S. Army Veteran serving two years during World War II. In 1946 he organized his own oil field trucking company in Illinois. In 1950 he relocated to Kansas and sold his business before moving on to Amarillo where he continued working in the trucking industry. He married Sue WILLIAMS on Oct. 19, 1989 in Sapulpa. Neil was a member of the San Jacinto Baptist Churck of Amarillo, Texas and an avid golfer.

Roy Allen HODGE was born May 27, 1918 in Shamrock to Troy and Belva HODGE. He passed from this life Monday, Nov. 3, 1997 in Bristow at the age of 79. Roy Allen HODGE and Anna "Margie" BARNETT were united in marriage May 21, 1938 in Depew. Roy worked as an oilfield truck driver for several companies. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Patricia SUMMERS; one granddaughter, Deanna TITSWORTH; and one sister, Helen HODGE.
Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the Slick Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the Stroud City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.

Kelly PYLE was born on Friday, Oct. 1914 in London, Ark. to Henry J. and Mattie (LOVE) PYLE. He passed from this life on Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, three days after his 83rd birthday. Kelly came to this area when he was 14 years old and had lived here since. He spent 28 years working for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft before retiring in 1978. He also retired after many years from the Mounds Volunteer Fire Department. His family shares many warm memories of him including his love of fishing. He married his loving wife, Josephine (BROWN) PYLE on April 3, 1943 in Tulsa. Kelly was preceded in death by his son, Tommy PYLE in 1939; three brothers, Sam, Joe and Tillman PYLE; and one sister, Lucy BARTON. Graveside rites will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m., at the Mounds Cemetery with Pastor L.O. McNabb officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of the Leonard and Marker Funeral Home.
