University Student Found Dead In Bed

FAYETTEVILLE -- A University of Arkansas freshman was found dead in his dorm room Sunday morning.

A roommate of Aron Morgan, 18, woke up about 11:30 a.m. and called 911 after finding Morgan not breathing in his Pomfret Hall room.

Morgan, a freshman from Owasso, Okla., was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock for an autopsy.

Lt. Gary Crain of the University of Arkansas Police Department said there is no obvious sign of how Morgan died.

"We don't suspect anything at this point," he said.

Police expect preliminary information from the medical examiner later this week, he said. Police were interviewing friends Monday to determine what Morgan was doing prior to his death.

"We'll talk to many different people in this case to come up with an answer," Crain said.

Morgan was a Chancellor's Scholar majoring in chemical engineering and was enrolled in the Honors College. He took college courses at Tulsa Community College and graduated a semester early from Owasso High School. He participated in commencement there in May.

He ran cross-country at Owasso and was a member of the student council and Odyssey of the Mind club.

"He was a quiet, hard worker," said Stan Trout, Owasso High School principal. "He did very well academically, and everybody had nothing but positives to say about him.

"He was just a good kid, just a good, solid kid," he said.
