Grace Elizabeth Bailey

Shawnee resident Grace Elizabeth Bailey, 82, died Monday, Nov. 13, of natural causes at Unity Health Center.
She was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Avery, Okla., to Ira F. Ross and Nettie May Hunkapiller.

On Sept. 13, 1947, she married Aubrey Bailey in Seminole.

Grace was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and sewing clothes and stuffed animals for all the family children.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one son and a number of brothers and sisters.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Don Stevens and wife, Frances, of Shawnee; grandchildren, Jim Stevens, Pamela Stevens, Kim Click and Tina Hall; great-grandchildren, Winter, J.D., Aaron, Joseph, Andrew, Abigayle, Bailey and Chloe; and sister, Frances Channer.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Service will be 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery Pavilion with Chaplain Larry Sparks officiating.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.


Rodrick Lewis Roubidoux

Rodrick "Rod" Lewis Roubidoux of Oklahoma City left to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 13, at the age of 40.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Starr Roubidoux and grandmother, Betty Nenaikita.

Survivors include his loving wife, Cecelia; six children, Melissa, Rodrick Jr. and his wife, Cassandra, Stephanie, Matthew, Michelle and Andrew; three grandchildren, Cynthia, Rodrick III, and Debra; two brothers, James H. Roubidoux Jr., Rodney "Jon" Roubidoux; one sister, Raquel Sutterfield; his father, James H. Roubidoux Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rod was a big OU fan, enjoyed disc golf, playing pool and basketball with his children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oklahoma City, under the direction of Corbett Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Retired Methodist minister the Rev. Charles "Red" Little, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, at his residence in Shawnee.
Wake service will be 6:30 p.m. today at Wewoka Indian Methodist Church, Yeager, Okla. The body will be taken to the church at 4 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wewoka Indian Methodist Church with the Rev. James Smith, the Rev. Jerry Byrd and the Rev. Ben Little officiating. Burial will be a Wewoka Indian Church Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Prague resident Georgia Adelee Hart, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 12, in Fresno, Calif.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothes Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Randall Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery.

Former Shawnee and Meeker area resident W.L. Reid, 79, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Ovett, Miss.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Richton, Miss.

Former Konawa resident Duaine Allen MeGee, 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, at his home in Weatherford.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Vamoosa Cemetery east of Konawa on Hwy 377, with the Rev. Lindell Warren officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Wewoka resident Betty Carol Sipes, 52, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Oklahoma City.

Frank Lloyd McCalla

Longtime Cromwell resident Frank Lloyd McCalla died Sunday, Nov. 12, in Mississippi at the age of 78.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Clay Pettis officiating. Burial will be held 2 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Lawton with full military honors.

Richard Mack Roberts

Shawnee resident Richard Mack Roberts, 64, departed this world on Sunday, Nov. 12, at home.
He was born Nov. 11, 1942, in Shawnee to Mack and Alice (Redwine) Roberts.

Dick loved hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheeler and most of all, arguing with anyone who was willing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Brian Todd Roberts and Todd John; and his best friend Maxx.

Survivors include three daughters, Christa Richmond; Debbie Bibb and Cindy John; one son, Greg Crisp; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Kenneth Crook of Texas, Janice and James Cox of Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Debbie Roberts of Shawnee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family members; friend Roger Harmon; a special nephew close to his heart Dustin Roberts; two special women in his life, Barbara and Granny Hopper.

A private memorial service will be Saturday at a local church in Shawnee.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made for a memorial stone in his honor at the service.


Maurice Erwin Wise

Katie, Okla., resident Maurice Erwin "Skip" Wise, 64, passed from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
He was born February 18, 1942 in Warsaw, Ind., to Leonard and Lennis (Carrothers) Wise.

Skip grew up and attended school in Warsaw, Ind.

In 1969 he married Linda Lou Ransbottom. They moved to Wynnewood, Okla., before making their home in Katie, Okla. Linda preceded Skip in death on March 10, 1997.

On July 21, 2005, Skip married Becky Morton in Warsaw.

Skip was a journeyman printer in Indiana before going to work for Lonestar/Ensearch in 1977 before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elmore City and chairman and charter member of the Katie Fire Department. Skip was also a former mayor of Katie, a member of the Murray County Antique Tractors Associations, Rope Makers Guild, and a member of the West Davis Rural Water Board. Skip was involved with the American Red Cross and won the Save The Day Award in 2001 as a mentor/role model. Always known for being generous with his time and talents, Skip volunteered at Elmore City, Pauls Valley, and Sulphur School systems as a reader. He had a great love for rope making and traveled all over the United States doing ropemaking demonstrations. The most popular was the Chuckwagon Festival in Oklahoma City on Memorial Day.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Linda Wise; his father, Leonard Wise.

He is survived by his wife, Becky of the home; his mother, Lennis Wise of Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters and husbands, Kimberly and David Kennedy of Elmore City, Lynette and Larry Leidner of Norman; two step-daughters, Jessina Morton of Norman, and Emily Morton of Shawnee; two stepsons, Aenon Morton of Shawnee, Logan Viers of Guam; two brothers, Dexter Wise of Menton, Ind., Doug Wise and his wife Tammy of Warsaw; one sister, Carol Sue Hawkins of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Charles Erwin Kennedy, Katie LuEllen Kennedy, Nicole Lynn Smith; two step-grandchildren, Landon and Lauren Viers; one great-grandchild, David Royce Kennedy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmore City First Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce McCray officiating. Burial will be in the Katie Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

Harrah resident John Mark Lynch died Thursday, Nov. 17, at the age of 63.

Seminole resident James Theodore Baser, 84, died Thursday, Nov. 16, at his home.

Joaquin "Hoss" Miller  

Lifelong Pottawatomie County resident Joaquin "Hoss" Miller, 51, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Shawnee.
He was born July 12, 1955, in Shawnee and was known by all as "Hoss the Handyman."

Joaquin loved life. He enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, cards and dominoes. He liked listening to the Blues and Rock 'n' Roll.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Frances Miller Peacore; four brothers, David Peacore, Randall Peacore, Billy Joe Miller and Allen Miller; and one sister, Katheryn Miller.

Survivors include Janell Trammell of the home; stepfather, Leon Peacore; two daughters, Savannah Miller, of Arlington, Texas; stepdaughter, Linda Boyer, of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Billy and Christina Kingsley; two brothers, George Miller, Denver, Colo., and Josey Miller of Shawnee; five sisters, Mary Lou Peacore, Shawnee, Francine Johnson, Reno, Nev., Martha Mooney, Karen Miller, both of Seminole, and Josephine Brown, Shawnee; nieces and nephews, Faith, Michael John, Jeramiah Green, Brandy, Darren and Phillip Peacore, and Brad Braley.

Wake service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Snake Creek Baptist Church.

Jarrett Edward Fidler

Lifelong Konawa area resident Jarrett Edward Fidler died Thursday, Nov. 16, at Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 70.

Jarrett was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Konawa to Charles E. and Emma Dale (Bolton) Fidler.

On Jan. 19, 1965, he married Bonnie (Walton) in Sasakwa, Okla.

He worked in the greater area oilfields, mostly as a tool pusher. He was a member of Konawa Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fidler of the home; one daughter, Twyla Cobbs of Yukon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tracy and Michelle Fidler of Asher, Tony and Debie Fidler of Ponca City, and Terry and Carla Fidler of Lexington; one sister, Sharon D. Hogue of Konawa; eight grandchildren, Christopher Cobbs, Zach, Tanner and Kassidi Fidler, Sydnie and Mackenzie Fidler and Shelby and Taylor Fidler; two nieces, Tammy Newby of Ada and Leanne Littelle of Ada and a host of other family and friends.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Konawa Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Steve Lowrance officiating. Burial will follow in Konawa Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Damron, Darrell Mackey, Stanley Johnson, Jim Kelley, Randy Walker and Chris Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Herbert Walker and Lloyd Mosley.


Zelma Lorene Carter

Tecumseh resident Zelma Lorene Carter, 88, died Friday, Nov. 17, in Shawnee.
Zelma was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Manchester, Texas, to J.D. and Mattie (Moss) Cremeen.

On May 9, 1940, she married Albert Clyde Carter in Brownfield, Texas. She and her husband moved to Oklahoma in 1949 and have lived here since.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, as well as working with flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 12, 1985; a daughter, Norma Ruther Carter, and her parents.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Billy Flick of Tecumseh; son, Mark Carter of Tecumseh; sister, Dorothy Townes of Clarksville, Texas; two brothers, Bobby Cremeen and Billy Cremeen, both of Texas.

Viewing will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Robert Rider and the Rev. Chad Brodrick officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Robert F. Porter Jr.

Newalla resident Robert F. (Bob) Porter Jr. went to be with his Lord Saturday, Nov. 18, at the age of 62.

He was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Hartshorne, Okla. He was the second child of five born to Robert F. Porter Sr. and Nancy (Skinner) Porter.

Bob graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1962 where he was active in football, band and drama productions. He was president of his Senior Class and a member of the National Honor Society.

He attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and received his B.S. degree from East Central University in 1967.

Bob was employed for 32 years at the Federal Aviation Administration, Mike Monroney Center Oklahoma City, from 1967 to 1999. He was a computer systems analyst.

After retirement Bob enjoyed raising cattle, gardening, woodworking, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Shawnee, and served as president of the United Methodist Men Organization for many years; he helped coordinate annual Christmas baskets for families in need in the Bethel community.

He is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy (Mills) Porter. They were married on Dec. 18, 1965, at Bethel United Methodist Church. He is also survived by three daughters, Christina Porter, Amy and husband, Henry Westbrook III of Middle Grove, N.Y., Angela and husband, Nathan Miller of Midwest City; grandchildren Adam and Hailey Westbrook and Kryste' Miller; two sisters, Wilda Lavers of Marceline, Mo., Betty and husband, Grady Sells of Richardson, Texas; two brothers, John Porter and wife, Kathy of Dallas, Texas, and Danny Porter and wife, Diane of Duncan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bob was greatly admired and respected by all that knew and loved him.

Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel, Shawnee, with burial to follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church for the OK Diabetic Asociation.


Donald Ray Butler

Oklahoma City resident Donald Ray Butler, 74 passed from this earth Monday, Nov. 20.

He was ready to go home. As was normal for Don, he quietly endured his many afflictions. He cherished his family above all else on this earth and left a lifetime of examples and special memories. He was greatly loved.

He was born the youngest of four children to Virgil and Aimee Butler. Don was born and raised in and around Oklahoma City.

He married Irma Lee Kinchen in 1956. They moved to Bethel Acres in 1968 where they lived until Irma Lee passed away in 1998.

Don is survived by four children and their spouses, Curt and Debbie Avant, Cheryl and Roger Rowsey, Keith and Deb Butler, Brett and Melissa Butler; one sister, Pauline Saunders; and 11 grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee.


Iva Rowell Cearly

El Reno resident Iva Rowell Cearly, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 19 in El Reno.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Geneva Burwell of Humble, Texas officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.


William "Bill" McManess

Shawnee resident William "Bill" McManess, 81 died Monday, Nov. 20, at a local nursing home.

He was born Feb. 14, 1925, to William George and Christina Alma (Christiansen) McManess in Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Perry High School and married Wanda Lois Lewis.

William served in the U.S. Army. He was a manager at Ernest Brothers Shoe Store in Shawnee and was a member of Elks Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, son-in-law and granddaughter, Laleta Lynn Peltier

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Peltier of Shawnee; two grandsons, Rueben Peltier of Shawnee and Kanton Peltier and his wife, Annie of Tecumseh; one great-granddaughter, Haven Peltier; many neighbors, friends and his Loving Care Hospice family.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, with Bill Matthews officiating.

Burial will be at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Ollie Pitman Smothers

Crystal Lake, Ill., resident Ollie Pitman Smothers, 97, died Monday, Nov, 20, in Illinois.
She was born Dec. 29, 1908, in Sparks to Samuel Milo Pitman and Narcisus (Crockett) Pitman.

On April 19, 1930, she married Rex Smothers in McLoud.

Ollie was a homemaker and a member of McLoud Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; granddaughter, Julie Karns; five brothers, Victor, Leroy, Troy, Reese and Emmit; two sisters, and Leona and Dorothy.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Hutcheson of Shawnee and Loyce and Al McNutt of Crystal Lake; four granddaughters and spouses, Cheryl and Rick Baierl of Oklahoma City, Shelly and Kim Harris of Norman, Leslie and Dave Kruser and Sylvia and Bill Schafer, all of Crystal Lake; one grandson and his wife, Tony and Penny Hutcheson of Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, Foy and Wanda Pitman of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Dora Pitman of Ada; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Church of Christ of McLoud.

Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

Phoenix, Ariz., resident Marjorie L. Wolf, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 19, at her residence.
Tribal services will be Friday night at the Scott family home in Cushing with Raymond Massey conducting.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sac and Fox Cemetery in Stroud.

Dollie Pattillo

Shawnee resident Dollie Pattillo, 73, died Friday, Nov. 24, at Midwest City Regional Hospital of natural causes.
Dollie was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Shawnee to Jimmie Lee Zimmerman and Ruth Myrtle Elliott.

She graduated from Shawnee High School.

She worked as a homemaker and belonged to Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time outside doing yard work.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one son, Robert Zimmerman.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Riley of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Larry Riley and Bekki Botkin; great-grandchildren, Devin Riley, Chastidy Botkin, Hunter Botkin; brothers, Jim L. Zimmerman and Raymond Zimmerman.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Monday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.


Neil Francis Galloway

Neil Francis Galloway, died in Cameron Park, California on Friday Nov. 17th. The cause of death was cancer. He was born in Oklahoma City in 1927 and graduated from Shawnee Oklahoma High School in 1945. During 1945 and 1946 he was assigned to the U.S. Marines at Paris Island as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. When discharged he studied music at the Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. During the summer of 1945 he sang and performed in the chorus of the Dallas Texas Starlight Opera Company. Shows included Bloomer Girl, Bittersweet, Rose Marie, The Chocolate Soldier, Pal Joey, Up in Central Park and Show Boat. During 1950 to 1954 he served as a U.S. Army Artillery officer. In Korea he was assigned to the Greek Infantry Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He spent 3 weeks with the ROK Capital Division during an offensive threat from the Chinese Army. Later, he flew over 40 missions in a Cessna L-19 directing artillery fire and gathering ground observations for the 3rd Division Intelligence. In 1955 Mr. Galloway began a 29 year civilian career with the U.S. Air Force assigned to units in Japan, Korea, Washington State, Ohio, Arizona, Pennsylvania and was a resident of the Washington, DC area for 17 years. For 10 years prior to his retirement in 1984, Mr. Galloway was assigned to the Pentagon as Director of World-Wide Air Force Civilian Member Policy and Programs. He was a member of the Air Force Military-Civilian Security Review Board and the Air Force Board for the Correction of Military Records. He received numerous awards and recognition for distinguished service.
Survivors include his wife Adelheid (Heidi) in Cameron Park, CA; sister Peggy Donovan of Shawnee, OK; daughter Gabriele in Rockford, MI, son Brian in Fort Collins, CO; son Guy in Springfield, VA and five grand children.

A private service will be held at a later date.


Elsie Rea (Hand) Rich

Prague resident Elsie Rea (Hand) Rich, 86, died Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Prague with the Rev. Larry Schut officiating. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery.

Arrangement are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.


Patricia Ann Campbell  

Shawnee resident Patricia Ann Campbell, 51, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, evening at an Oklahoma City Hospital from complications of a cerebral aneurysm.

Patricia was born one of eight siblings on Dec. 9, 1954 to John Cullen and Mary Sue Dockrey of Shawnee.

Patricia was born, went to school and lived in Shawnee her entire life.

She married Marvin Campbell November 3, 1993. After school she worked for a nursing home, the TG&Y corporate office in Oklahoma City until they closed and then for Mobil Chemical at their plant in Shawnee.

For the past several years Patricia worked assisting elderly clients maintain a presence in their own home beyond their capacity. She loved this work and developed many lasting friendships.

Other survivors include numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, their spouses and children and an endless list of friends.

Service of Christian burial will be held at St Benedict Catholic Church 12 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery. A rosary service will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service, 201 East 45th Street, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Albert Eldon Ailey Sr.

Shawnee resident Albert Eldon Ailey Sr., 62, died Saturday, Nov. 25, at a local nursing home.
Albert was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Shawnee to Isaac and Cora (Hembree) Ailey.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and Korea. He also served in France and Germany and throughout the United States. He retired from the Army in 1982. Later he worked for the City of Shawnee Water Deparment, Postal Service and Dinsmore Tractors.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners in Germany, V.F.W. and The Liar Club (a coffee group.)

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl and Roy Ailey.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ailey of the home; three sons, Joseph Ailey, Albert Ailey Jr. and wife, Zandra, Nick Ailey and wife, Ashley; granddaughter, Amarissa Ailey; grandsons, Dallas and Ryder Ailey; brothers, Edward Ailey and wife, Carol, of Harrah, Harold Ailey and wife, Juanita, of Shawnee; nephew, Wade Ailey of Kent, England.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with Mike Wester officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.


Helen Ruth Wiles

Shawnee resident Helen Ruth Wiles, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 26 at Oklahoma Christian Home in Edmond.
Helen was born Aug. 2, 1916 to Fred and Grace (Tennyson) Hutchins in Shawnee.

She married William Wright Wiles Sr. on Nov. 27, 1936 in Shawnee. They were married for almost 63 years prior to his death in September 1999.

Helen will be remembered as a mentor to the women of First Baptist Church, Shawnee, as well as the local community. Her model of service in the community taught young women the importance of serving others and her leadership in the mission opportunities at First Baptist Church encouraged women to become involved in the work of missions around the world. Her quiet but determined leadership always focused outside her own needs to the needs of others.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, her sister and her husband.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, William Wright Jr. and Christy Wiles of Edmond, and John Frederick and Donna K. Wiles of McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren, Cynthia Lynne and Robert Grindstaff of Saline, Mich., William W. Wiles III and Amy Ferrero of Suffolk, Va., John Frederick Jr. and Isabel Wiles of Dallas, Texas, Jason Louis and Sharon Wiles of Westerville, Ohio, Julie Anne Wiles of Westerville, Ohio; and a great-granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Grindstaff of Saline, Mich.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Chapel at Resthaven Memorial Park with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Shawnee or the Cooperating Baptist Fellowship of Oklahoma, Global Missions through the First Baptist Church.


Thomas Marvin Winford

McLoud resident Thomas Marvin Winford, 69, died Monday, Nov. 27, in Shawnee.
He was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Lindsay to Jack and Mary (Pugh) Winford.

He lived in Lindsay as a child. Following his service in the military, he lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Dayton, Texas. He had resided in McLoud since 1983.

On Dec. 15, 1961, he married Janet Treadway in Oklahoma City.

Thomas served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He owned and operated his own paint and body shop before beginning work as a road grader operator for Pottawatomie County District 2. He retired in 2002.

He enjoyed CB radios and was a member of REACT CB Club. He devoted his time to raising seven children.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Winford of the home; seven children and their spouses, Thomas Michael and Linda Winford of Bristow, Mary Lu Winford of Midwest City, Jimmy and Anita Winford of Shawnee, Billy and Brigitte Winford of Harrah, Ella Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kirk Winford of Lawton, and Carrie Long and Dustin McCoy of McLoud; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Brono Lu Ollom of Ohio and Jackie Long of Choctaw; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Ellen VanBeber

Shawnee resident Marjorie Ellen VanBeber, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 25, in a Claremore nursing home.
Marjorie was born June 29, 1913, in Vernon, Kan., to Bert and Susan Tannahill. She graduated from Vernon High School and received a teaching certificate from Pittsburg State University.

In 1939 she married Maurice Cooper VanBeber in Lyndon, Kan.

She was a school teacher for several years. Along with her husband, she was the owner and operator of the Daisy Q in Shawnee. She also was a homemaker and a part-time assistant librarian.

Marjorie was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sunday School teacher and Brownie Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader.

She was an amateur artist, winning several awards for her paintings. She enjoyed church, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, walking and having coffee with her friends. She also was a wonderful cook and seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jim VanBeber; five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two children, Bill VanBeber of Shawnee and Margaret Eilene Allison of Adair, Okla.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Burress officating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Buffalo, Kan. Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee, is directing arrangements.


Erma B. Loudon

Shawnee resident Erma B. Loudon, 94, died Sunday, Nov. 26, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, near Rapid City, S.D., to Ray and Gertie (Hurlbut) Blodgett.

Erma graduated from Central High School June 13, 1929, with honors in Sioux City, S.D. She also graduated from K.U. in 1933 with a degree in English.

She was married June 5, 1937 in Blair, Neb., to James Deloss Loudon.

After she graduated from K.U., she taught school near Lincoln, Neb., until 1940. She became a homemaker after moving to Shawnee in 1949.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, served on the Shawnee School Board and was a member of many other civic groups. She was a life member of Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity and a member of the Mortar Board at K.U.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include her son, James R. Loudon of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, William Shane Loudon and wife, Rachel, of Shawnee, James Ryan Loudon of Shawnee, David Adam Loudon of Fayettville, Ark., and Sarah Loudon Welte and husband, Jason, of Oklahoma City; five great-grandchildren, Tayler and Amanda Loudon, Abriana Loudon, and Elizabeth and Caplin Welte.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Elsie Mooneyham

Shawnee resident Elsie Mooneyham, 93, died Monday, Nov. 27, in a local nursing home.
Elsie was born April 11, 1913, in Jackson County, Ala., to Cora and Frank Hall.

She graduated from Shawnee High School and attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

On April 11, 1936, she married Wayne Mooneyham.

Along with her husband, she was the proprietor of Sunshine Grocery in Shawnee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She also was a mother and homemaker.

Elsie enjoyed spending countless hours fishing with her husband and sharing her favorite pastime with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and taking photos of her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Wayne; son, Steven, and an infant son.

Survivors include her sister, Myrtle Crittenden of Moore; daughters, Reba Kelley of Shawnee, Carian and Lee Davis of Eufaula, and Cheryl and Jerry Smith of Meeker; grandchildren, Mark Kelley, Susan Parsons, Kyle Kelley, Gena Jones, Greg Davis, Cindy Howard and Brian Smith; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Shawnee resident Kathy Rodriguez passed away Monday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. She was 58 years old.
She was born May 6, 1948.

Kathy is survived by one daughter, Lavada Rodriguez; three brothers, Ed Schiedt and his wife, Edith, from Ark., Melvin Schiedt and Butch Schiedt, Shawnee; three grandkids, Nikki, T.J. Carmen and her fiance, Tommy Robison; several nieces and nephews.

Kiefer, Okla., resident Ronald Eugene VanMeter, 60, departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Broken Arrow.
He was born Jan. 27, 1946, in Shawnee to Eugene and Norva (Beck) VanMeter.

Ronald married Nancy Kincade in Weleetka. He was a dental technician at the time of his death.

Preceding him in death were his father, two infant sisters and his grandparents, Frank and Beatrice Beck.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy VanMeter, of the home, three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda VanMeter, Broken Arrow, Rusty and Reginald Robitaille, Tecumseh, and Ronny and Doug Tuttle, Vista, Calif.; a special daughter, Keli Hayes, Broken Arrow, mother, Norva VanMeter, Prague; two sisters, Fronciene and Charles Landrum, Weleetka, and Christiene VanMeter, Prague; one brother and sister-in-law, Monty and Caroline VanMeter, Dustin, Okla.; three grandchildren, Destiny Robitaille, Dylan Robitaille, both of Tecumseh, and Demi Tuttle, Vista; and his beloved Muppett.

Glen W. Dulaney

Fort Worth, Texas, resident Glen W. Dulaney passed away Monday, Nov. 27, in Fort Worth at the age of 90.
Glen was born July 25, 1916, in Wileyville, W.V., and grew up in Bristow, Okla.

He worked in the fingerprint department for the FBI in the early part of World War II and then spent the rest of his career as Special Agent and Chief Special Agent for the Frisco railroad.

Glen loved people, making friends easily and keeping them long. Humor and goodwill were his way of life. His family was the most important part of his life. For them, he was always a devoted and loving son, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In 2004, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Juanita Dulaney.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Morton and husband, Larry, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Wayne Morton and wife, Sheri, of Flower Mound, Texas, and Ron Morton of Euless, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Thomas and Hope Morton.

Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home, Fort Worth.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home, Fort Worth.


Bradley J. Mitchell

Newalla resident Bradley J. Mitchell, 24, died in his sleep on Monday morning, Nov. 27, 2006, while visiting relatives in Oelwein, Iowa.
He was born Oct. 8, 1982, in Shawnee to Bryan Jeffrey and Mindy Lea (Michael) Mitchell.

He graduated from McLoud High School in 2001, where he was in the drama club. He also was first to qualify for State Championships in debate. Brad enjoyed theatre. At Rose State College he participated in plays.

Brad was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in McLoud, where he was baptized and had served as an altar person. He was employed at Convergy's Customer Call Center in Moore.

Brad enjoyed comic books, "Star Wars," superheroes, science-fiction movies. His favorite hobby was reading. Brad loved to debate about politics or anything he felt strongly about.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.

Survivors include his parents, Bryan and Mindy Mitchell; one sister, Mariah Mitchell, all of Newalla; maternal grandparents, Allen and Lou Michael, McLoud; paternal grandparents, Bill and Pat Mitchell, Shawnee; maternal great-grandmother, Agnes Michael, Oelwein; maternal aunts and uncles, Tyler and Christal Michael, Huntley, Ill., and Michelle Michael; paternal uncle and aunt, Billy Jack and Lola Mitchell, all of Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.

Wake service will be 7 p.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday with Father Eugene Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

John Edward Fiegel

Shawnee resident John Edward Fiegel passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Shawnee at the age of 85.
John was born in Cheney, Okla., on Aug. 30, 1921, to Jacob W. and Olive (Holcomb) Fiegel.

He attended school at Cheney through 8th grade and attended and graduated from Gage High School in 1940. Later in life, he attended and graduated Cum Laude from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

Mr. Fiegel served in the U.S. Army from December 1942 to November 1945, when he was honorably discharged. He was inducted at Fort Chaffee, Ark., and took basic training at Camp McQuade, Calif. He was stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia Beach, Va., and at Fort Hancock, N.J. His last place of service was in the Aleutian Islands on Adak. He served with the Florida 265th, which later became the 278th Coast Artillery Battalion. He was a security-cleared radio operator, Tech Sgt IV. He was an expert rifleman and was certified on the M1, M1 Carbine and the BAR. After the service, he farmed north of Shattuck.

On July 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Euleta Woodrum. To this union were born three daughters, Twila Kay, Rita Ann and Neva Jo. They made their home on the farm until the early 1950s when the family moved to Shattuck where John owned and operated a small business. He later worked in the Shattuck Post Office. John accepted Christ in his mid 30s.

In June 1969 the family moved to Shawnee. John graduated from OBU with a degree in Religion. He preached in several churches and later worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Through the years John served in several churches, the last of which was Immanuel Baptist Church. He most enjoyed serving in the Young Married Sunday School Department for 13 years. He mentored many young men called to special service or the ministry. He was active in the Bus Ministry, Sunday School, Senior Time and Talent and Prayer Ministry until his last illness. He was an ordained minister and a member of Gideons, the Masonic Lodge and OES.

John was preceded in death by his father; mother; infant daughter, Twila Kay; sister, Helen Casey and her husband, Raymond; sister, Lucile Nine; sister-in-law, Eva Lee Lloyd; his beloved uncle, L.D. (Bill) Holcomb; and his cousin, Earl Duane Holcomb, who he loved as a brother.

Surviving him are his wife, Euleta; daughter, Rita Chavez and husband, Louis, of Wentzville, Mo.; daughter, Neva Treiber and husband, Fred, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Andrea Chavez Knobel and husband, Dave (Zack, Caleb, Emily), Sara Chavez Nettemeier and husband, Ryan, Dustin Smith and wife, Molly (Nevanna), Phillip Smith and wife, Becky (Hudson), Michael Chavez and wife, Amber, Christina Chavez and acquired grandchildren, Erik Treiber and wife, Holly (Kate, Sarah, Lauren) and Brad Treiber; sister, Lois Parsons and husband, T.L.; and brothers-in-law, Frankie Nine, Norbert Lloyd, and Oren Woodrum; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Todd Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Bickford Cemetery in northwest Oklahoma near the community of Catesby.
