Shawnee resident Lillian Lizar, 93, died Thursday evening, May 19, at a local hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Remington, Ind., to Joseph Morris Vogel and Rosa (Mileschic) Vogel. She graduated from Remington Indiana High School.

She was a homemaker and a supervisor at a Remington ammunition plant in Denver, Colo.

On April 26, 1934, she married Henry T. Jaegers. He preceded her in death in 1941. On Oct. 2, 1953, she married Homer V. Lizar. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1987.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Alter Society, Sponsa Regis, a volunteer at the Mabee Greer Museum at St. Gregory's, conducted tours of the stained glass windows at St. Benedict and an active member of Zeta Gamma of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Lola Jaegers of Shawnee; three grandchildren and their spouses, Teri and Danny Blau of Greenwood, Ind., Eric and Roslyn Jaegers of Charlotte, N.C., Jennifer and Joe Wostal of Logo Vista, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Natalie Blau, Jack Jaegers, and Joseph and Natasha Wostal; sister-in-law, Dora Vogel of Brownsburg, Ind; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be 6 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service. Mass of the Christian Burial will be noon Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B. officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Born Oct. 8, 1922, in Stilger, Okla., to Earl and Lottie Robinson, Hazel Rudolph died Tuesday, May 17. Hazel was 2 lb at birth and her incubator was the warming oven of a wood burning stove. She grew up in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
John and Hazel moved to Tecumseh with their family in the early 1960's and ran a cafe on main street. To many, Hazel's cooking skills were well known, she worked at such Tecumseh landmarks as Jay's and the Arrow Cafe. Throughout her food service career she worked for South Rock Creek School, Shawnee Medical Center, Mission Hill Hospital and Sunset Estates Nursing Home.

Hazel is survived by two children, John Rudolph and his wife, Kathy, of Las Vegas, Nev., Becky Rudolph and her partner, Ann Hensley, of Denver, Colo. She has two grandchildren, Beth Robertson, Ben Robertson and three great-grandchildren. She has four remaining siblings, Lemyil Robinson, Earl Robinson, Bea Robinson Duzan and Kari Robinson. Most important is to acknowledge her best friends of many years, Dixie Fulton and Model Brock. All who know Hazel will desperately miss her ready smile and infectious spirit!

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, in Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.

Lealon Roland Lewis
Lealon Roland Lewis, 83, passed away Sunday, May 22, in Shawnee.
He was born June 19, 1921, in Hazel to Thomas Joseph and Mary Lewis.

On Jan. 22, 1939, he married Lola Ann Lester. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in January 2004. From their union were born three children, Ira Lee Lewis, Donald Ray Lewis and Patsy Lewis Poag. His wife, Lola, preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 2004.

Lealon was in the United States Navy during World War II, serving as a gun captain aboard the U.S. Neal A. Scott, a destroyer escort that patrolled in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Oceans. After the war, he and Lola raised their children in Tecumseh, Sulphur and Duncan. Lealon worked in the oilfields in Oklahoma for 21 years as a roughneck, driller, toolpusher and later as drilling superintendent for Perkins Drilling Company, Duncan. He also was part owner of his own drilling company. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

After their children were grown, Lealon and Lola returned to Tecumseh in 1963. For a short time, he worked in the oilfield in Venezuala and then returned to Oklahoma and was employed at Tinker Field for 11 years before retiring. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh.

Survivors include three children, Ira Lewis and his wife, Roxanne, of Sun City, Calif., Don Lewis of Shawnee, Patty Lewis Poag and her husband, Leon, of Oklahoma City; brother, Jack Lewis, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Joe Don Lewis of Tujunga, Calif., Michelle Graves and her husband, John, of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Katie and Deborah Lewis of Sun City, Donnie Lewis and his wife, Karen, of Shawnee, Kim Lewis Richmond and her husband, Tim, of Shawnee, Steve and Dana Poag and Donna Poag, all of Chickasha; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Chase Lewis of Tujunga, Luis Larios of Shawnee, Matthew and Chris King of Shawnee, Megan Boswell and Lauren Savage of Chickasha, and Trey Richmond of Seminole.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Sharla Beth "Tish" Coffee
McLoud resident Sharla Beth "Tish" Coffee, 47, died Tuesday, May 24, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Tish was born April 18, 1958, in Lawton to Ben Coffee and Margaret (Neash) Downs. She was a homemaker and lived in the McLoud-Harrah area all her life.

She is preceded in death by her father, stepfather, Leroy Downs, mother and brother, David Mahtapene.

Survivors include four children, Ben Johnson Riley, Wachie Allen Riley, Sahaunie Nicole Coffee and Hulbutta Kotcha Riley; grandchildren, Erin Jordan Riley, Kyla Renee Robertson and Zachary Allen Riley; brother, Larry Otis Coffee, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and "sisters."

Tribal rites were held Wednesday at sunrise by the Native American Church. Burial was at the Kickapoo Tribal Cemetery.

Margaret Ann Jones
Margaret Ann "Maggie" Jones was called home to our lord Sunday, May 22.
Maggie was a devoted wife and mother and was loved by many. She spent countless hours of service with St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and will be remembered for her selfless giving and caring heart.

Maggie was born May 30, 1950, in Alliance, Neb., to Howard and Hazel Henderson. She graduated from Alliance High School and later attended Oklahoma Baptist University. She married Richard E. Jones Nov. 1, 1974. Maggie was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Salvation Army Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hazel Henderson.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Jones; two daughters, Heather Jones of Oklahoma City, and Jennifer Norton of Fort Smith, Ark.; her sisters, Verna Stoddard of Hayfork, Calif., and Sharon Francis of Upton, Wyo.; brother, Richard Henderson of Columbus, Neb.; grandchildren, Chloe and Brendan Norton.

Service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Shawnee, with Dr. Rockford Johnson officiating. Maggie will be laid to rest in Omaha, Neb. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church or Unity Health Cancer Center.

Morgan Elizabeth Molsbee
Morgan Elizabeth Molsbee, infant daughter of Michael and Danielle (Westbrook) Molsbee of Meeker, was stillborn in Shawnee Tuesday, May 24.
Survivors include grandparents, Russell and Alice Busler of Meeker, David and Tonya Armitage of Meeker and Lewis and Cindy Westbrook of Branson, MO.; great-grandparents, Georgie Crum of Jay, Carroll Ray Harper of Meeker, Peggy Molsbee of Meeker, Bob and Norma Armitage of Meeker, Ernie and Kim Molsbee of Dale, Pat Akers of Branson West, Mo., and Cliff Westbrook of Davis; great-great-grandparents, Francis Harben of Oklahoma City and Ralph Molsbee of Paden and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

James W. Nail
Shawnee resident James W. Nail went to be with our lord Tuesday, May 24, at the young age of 75 years, five months, and nine days.
He was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Byars to George and Bessie Nail.

Nail had worked as a farmer, rancher and oil field worker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 serving in Korea.

He was the best husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather and a very happy great-grandfather.

Nail is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clayton Nail.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Nail, of the home; three children and their spouses, Judy and Michael Davis of Claremore, Jimmy and Evelyn Nail of Las Vegas, and Jerry and Terri Nail of Pauls Valley; grandchildren, James L. Nail of Wayne, Jerry Nail Jr and his wife, Jami, of Shawnee, Jaime Davis of Claremore; great-grandchildren, Jordan Davis of Claremore and Jessica Nail of Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Cecil Franklin of Yamhill, Ore.; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Eugene and Pauline Nail of Asher, Edith Nail of Tecumseh, and Bessie Nail of Wanette.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Kurt Beauford officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.

Tinna Rochelle (King) Lowden
Lifelong Maud and Saint Louis resident Tinna Rochell (King) Lowden, 36, died Tuesday, May 24, at OU Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 23, 1968, in Seminole to Tommy Allen King and Sherry Rochelle (Fletcher) King.

Lowden attended Maud High School. She also attended Seminole State College and East Central University receiving her master's degree in special education and psychology.

On May 18, 1985, she married Robert Henry Lowden in Saint Louis.

She was the Special Education Director at Little Axe Elementary schools for the past six years.

She was a member of the National Education Association and First Baptist Church in Saint Louis where she taught pre-school class.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Robert Lowden of the home; mother and stepfather, Sherry and Randy Hilburn of Maud; father, Tommy King of Maud; son, 3-year-old Kade Henry Lowden of the home; two daughters, Keely Autumn Lowden and Kendra Nicole Lowden, both of the home; two brothers, Tommy King of Maud, and Scotty King of Oklahoma City; sister, Ginger King of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Jr. Lowden of Saint Louis; mother and father-in-law, Ester and Nobbie Lowden of Saint Louis; and a host of other family and friends.

Casket bearers are Robbie Fletcher, Steve Fletcher, Cary Fletcher, Barry Fletcher, Jr. Lowden and Larry Fletcher.

Honorary bearers are Steve Nail and Farin Coody.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Louis First Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Peck officiating. Burial will follow at Collins Cemetery, Saint Louis, under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Robert Vernon Hansen
Robert Vernon Hansen, 82, of Shawnee died Tuesday at his home. Mr. Hansen was born March 2, 1923, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Edgar G. and Ruth (Vogt) Hansen. He received his Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hansen was a plant manager for Allen Bradley Co for 35 years. He was CEO of Maghemite, Inc. in Port Cartier, Canada and a consultant for GM after retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for many years, American Legion, Lions Club and currently a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He had lived in Shawnee since 1973.
His parents, wife and a son, Jeffrey Scott Hansen, preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Susan Hansen of Milwaukee, Wis., Steven Hansen and fiancee Martha Beckman of Aledo, Texas, Douglas and Daneen Hansen of Ardmore, Peter and Linda Hansen of Kingston; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Robinson of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren, Krista and Matthew Hansen, Steven Michael Hansen, Eric Robert Robinson, Jeffrey and J.D. Hansen and Jennifer Sweet, Amber, Bradley, Aaron and Mary Hansen; three great-grandchildren, Kayli Sweet, A.J. Sweet and Austin Hansen and one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Andy Houston of Manitowoc, Wis.

The casket will remain open at the funeral home until moving to the church and will not open for the services.

Service will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Dr. Rockford Johnson and the Rev. Karen Fowler-Lindemulder officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mabel C. Groetecke
Shawnee resident Mabel C. Groetecke, 92, died Thursday, May 26, at her home.
She was born May 11, 1913, in Shawnee to John and Mary (Covey) Click.

She grew up and received her education in Shawnee.

Groetecke lived in Shawnee all of her life, except for a 10 year period she spent in Shawnee.

She moved to Oklahoma City to work in the printing business at H. Dorsey Douglas Printing Company.

While in Oklahoma City she met and married John E. Groetecke Sept. 4, 1937. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1962.

Her and John were married in a double ceremony with her brother, Walter, and Lila Mae Thomas at their brother George Clicks home.

In 1970 she received her certification as a nurse's aide and served many private nursing duty for 20 years.

In 1985 she was honored as Santa Fe Queen.

Groetecke was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years having held many offices.

As one who loved youth, she was known as "Mom" and "Grandma Mabel" by many. These children and grandchilren were adopted not by law, but by her generous and ever present love that touched all who knew her. Mabel never married again but had a very special friend and companion for many years, J. Loyd Ford Jr., who also preceded her in death.

Also preceding Mabel in death are her parents and eight brothers, Frank, Wallace, William, Leonard, George, Ed, Johnny and Walter.

Survivors include two daugters and sons-in-law, Lerlene and Archie Hill and Mary and Walter Johnston; special granddaughter, Kathleen Abass and her family with whom she lived.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Lerlene Hill officiating. Walker Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Margaret Jacinta Herrington
Shawnee resident Margaret Jacinta Herrington, 80, died Wednesday, May 25, in Shawnee.
She was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Tecumseh to Charles Milton and Martha Ann Elizabeth "Mattie" (Tribbey) Herrington.

Born and reared in Tecumseh, she was the youngest of four. She had lived in Bartlesville and Oklahoma City before returning to Tecumseh in the early 1970s.

Herrington was valedictorian of her Tecumseh High School graduating class of 1942. She received her bachelor's degree in business administration from The University of Oklahoma. She then went on to receive her juris doctorate from Oklahoma City University Law School in 1950, while working full-time.

She worked as an in-house legal counsel for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville and as legal counsel in Oklahoma City. She was the first female practicing attorney in Pottawatomie County. She had her own private practice in Tecusmeh for over 25 years.

Herrington was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl Herrington and Albert Herrington, and sister Katherine Jenkins.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and special friends.

Memorials may be sent to Rogers State University Foundation for the Margaret J. Herrington Scholarship Endowment, 1701 W. Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017.

I.B. Wendel Cagle
I.B. Wendell Cagle, age 73, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at his home in Tecumseh.
Wendell was born September 19, 1931, in Shawnee, the son of I.B. Bill Cagle and Lillie Bell "Joyce" (Melott). He attended Shawnee High School and graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City. On Oct. 8, 1986, he was married to Frances Robbins. Mr. Cagle retired as a warehouse worker from Sears. He moved from Shawnee to Tecumseh in 1996 and had attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors, planting trees, and painting (until every drop of paint was used.)

Survivors include his wife, Fran Cagle, of the home; two children, Ted Cagle and wife, Karen, of Yukon, and Carmen Nadeau and husband, Wayne, of Earlsboro; five stepchildren, Jeff Council of Oklahoma City, Denise Blackard, Steve Robbins and wife, Paula, of Shawnee, Shawn Robbins of Paris, Texas, Sherri Kesler and husband, Tony, of Maud; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Kuensler and husband, Oscar, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Linda Barbee and husband, Wilson, of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Keith Cagle of Oklahoma City and Joe Cagle and wife, Shirley, of Winston Salem, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Cagle; one sister, Betty Collins; and one sister-in-law, George Ann.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with burial following at Little Cemetery.

Johnny L. Funderburg
Johnny L. Funderburg, 77, of Meeker died Friday, May 27, in Meeker.
He was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Buck Range, Ark., to Dan and Maud (Coley) Funderburg. He was a graduate of Mineral Springs, Ark., High School.

He served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona at the time of his retirement. His former wife is Betty Jo Cox, and he married Norma Keyker on Dec. 29, 1996, in Weatherford.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hydro Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. 230, Laymen's Inc. of Oklahoma City and served on the Meeker Board of Trustees for two years.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, of the home; three children and their spouses, Bobby Gene Funderburg of Murfreesboro, Ark., Sandra E. and Jim Fowler of Canada, Okla.; and Belinda and Jack J. Williams of McLoud; two stepchildren and spouses, Bobbi and Joe Shelton of Chickasha and David and Colleen Tickle of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one sister, Marguerite Russell of Locksburg, Ark.; five grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a daughter-in-law.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.

Pete Hargus
Tecumseh resident Pete Hargus, 47, died Thursday, May 26, in Tecumseh.
He was born Jan. 20, 1958, in Shawnee to Kenneth R. Hargus and Irma Burger.

He attended Macomb High School and worked in the oil field and as a carpenter. He had been a roofer for the past 18 years. He liked the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He was a lifelong resident of Tecumseh and Macomb.

Survivors include his mother, Irma Burger of Tecumseh; father, K.R. Hargus of Tecumseh; two sisters, Teddie Lam of Tecumseh and DeRece Williams of Shawnee; two brothers, Boyd Hargus and Earl Gene Hargus, both of Tecumseh; three nieces and four nephews.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Romulus Cemetery with Wayne Bryant officiating.

Misty Dawn Howell, 22, died Friday, May 27, in Oklahoma City.

William L. Autrey
Oklahoma City resident William L. Autrey, 23, died Thursday, May 26, in Sulphur.
He was born March 4, 1982, in Wahiawa, Hawaii, to William Allen Autrey and Kwang Sun Choe Autrey.

Autrey graduated from Shawnee High School and was a customer service agent for Hartford Inc. in Oklahoma City.

He was engaged to Gabrielle Bell. He was an avid rock climber and a computer and music enthusiast.

Survivors include his father, William A. Autrey of Shawnee; grandmother, Ruth Autrey of Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Janelle and Randall Coleman of McLoud; uncle, Mark Autrey of the home; aunt, Melinda Calvert of Los Angeles, Calif., and his fiancee, Gabrielle "Gabby" Bell of Oklahoma City.

Pallbearers will be Michael Jordan, Anthony Bell, David Mayo, Marco Graham, Jeremy Followwill, Keith Swing and Matthew Massey as alternate.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with Robert Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Thomas Lawton LaValley
Thomas Lawton LaValley, 45, died Thursday, May 26, at a local hospital.
He was born Aug. 18, 1959, in Oklahoma City to Thomas Huey LaValley and Evelena (Cook) LaValley.

He is survived by mother, Evelena LaValley of Tecumseh; father, Thomas LaValley and his wife, Lucy, of Shawnee; one sister, Sulyne Cuellar and her husband, Robbie, of Shawnee; two nieces, Chandler Cuellar and Rebecca Anderson; companion, Carol Holmes of Shawnee, and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Christian Outreach with Travis Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Wetumka Cemetery. Resthaven Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

James Houston Bradley
James Houston Bradley, 63, died of a massive heart attack Saturday, May 28, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1942, in Franklin, La., to John and Eunice Bradley. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1960 and Oklahoma State University in 1966.

He had a long career in the oil industry and then with Cain's Coffee. He was most recently employed by Great Plains Coca-Cola, in a job at which he excelled and enjoyed.

In 1981, he married Brenda Culver, with whom he enjoyed many happy years.

He loved to fish and golf. One achievement he was proud of was the many travels he and Brenda enjoyed together. They visited all 50 states plus Canada and Mexico. He enjoyed everything from hot air ballooning to cruises. Everyone enjoyed his company and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Bradley.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; son, Tyler Houston Bradley of Moore; three stepsons, Billy Best of Wichita Falls, Texas; Mark Best of Oklahoma City; Tim Best of Fort Supply; his mother, Eunice Bradley, of Seminole; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Susan Bradley of Philadelphia, Pa.; Matt and Jane Bradley of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Adyson, Nathan, Jonathan, Taran, Eric, Zach, three nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel with Van Newton officiating. Burial will follow. Pallbears will be Tyler Bradley, Billy Best, Mark Best, Tim Best, Matt Bradley and Bob Bradley.

Gladys O. Carlon
Gladys O. Carlon, 79, of McLoud died Friday, May 27, at a local hospital.
She was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Vale, Ore. She attended school in Perry and graduated from Perry High School.

She married Glen Carlon on June 9, 1946, at her mother's home in Perry.

Except for a time in California when she worked as a bookbinder, she was a homemaker in McLoud. She was a member of McLoud First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Edmond Carlon, and one sister, Isobell Goodwin.

She is survived by her husband, Glen, of the home; three brothers, Wallace Goodwin of New Mexico, Shirley Goodwin of Perry and Glen Goodwin of Claremore; several nieces, nephews and other family.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McLoud First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Graham officiating and the Rev. Bill Derrick assisting. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.

John Babinchak
John Babinchak, 89, of Meeker died Friday, May 27, at a local nursing home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Whiting, Ind., to Michael and Anna (Sandrey) Babinchak.

After graduating from Whiting High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later worked as a blacksmith for Union Carbide, where he served and president and chairman of the union.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John C. and LaVerne Babinchak of Meeker; two grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Janelle Babinchak of Carpio, N.D., and Andrew Babinchak of Grand Forks, N.D.; one half sister, Anne Hrapcak of Hammond, Ind., and three nephews, Michael Roque, Johnny Roque and Alan Lewandowski.

She attended South Rock Creek School and Shawnee High School; she graduated with honors in 2000. She attended City College and studied paralegal work; she graduated in 2003.
