Billy W. Lewis

Harrah resident Billy W. Lewis, 73, died Sunday, May 29, in Midwest City.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw, with the Rev. Glen Walters officiating.

Leon Collinsworth

Konawa resident Leon Collinsworth, 56, died Monday, May 30, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa

H.J. Cooper

H.J. Cooper, 86, of Tulare, California, died Saturday, May 28, 2005 in Visalia, California. Funeral services will be held today at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home in Tulare. Burial will follow at Tulare District Cemetery.
He was born May 30, 1918 in Tecumseh to Jim and Cordelia Cooper. He attended Tecumseh schools and was a 1938 graduate of Tecumseh High School. He worked in the family furniture and undertaking business in Tecumseh. He was a partner with his brother in the business until moving to Tulare, California in 1951, where he and his wife, Betty, established Cooper Home Furnishings on South K Street. He was a founding member of the South K Improvement Association. He was also a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association and attended Tulare United Methodist Church.

Known by all for his stories and good humor, H.J. enjoyed traveling and visiting, but most of all was devoted to his garden, proudly sharing his fruit and vegetables. He will be dearly missed and joyously remembered by his family and friends.

In 1993, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Cooper. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Virgil and Lynn Cooper.

He is survived by two sons, Marc Cooper and his wife, Toni, of San Rafael, California and Kim Cooper of Fresno, California; one niece, Linda Kaye Dunlap and family of Edmond; and three nephews, Jim Cooper and family of Tecumseh, B.J. Cooper and family of Oklahoma City, and Phil Cooper and family of Austin, Texas.

Lois Elizabeth Haynes

Stroud resident Lois Elizabeth Haynes, 89, died Saturday, May 28, in Stroud.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church in Stroud with the Rev John Sowers officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

Virginia Boggs

Virginia Hudspeth Boggs born January 13, 1917 in Carrol County, AR, daughter of William Ross and Amo (Usrey) Hudspeth. Moved to Oklahoma at the edge of five with her parents, and lived in OK for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Antlers High School. She married Hobart Boggs March 13, 1939. They moved from Wilburton to Shawnee in 1948. She has been a member of Im manuel Baptist Church since 1956. She was precinct official for the Pott. County election board.
Virginia came from a musical family. Her mother and granfather Usrey played many musical instruments, and she played the piano. She shared her love of music with her husband and children. She enjoyed playing gospel music, but the favorite song of her children was the Black Hawk waltz. She played it many times for them, even into their adult years. She remained a gentle and caring soul amid a house full of lively children. She loved playing cards and checkers with her grandchildren; warning them before each game that she didn't like to lose. She referred to her grandchildren as the "love of her life".

Virginia enjoyed traveling, church activities and family. She and her sisters enjoyed each other's company, and had many happy times together. her door was always open for family, and she hosted numerous family gatherings over the years. Her coconut pie and divinity were always on the request list. She enjoyed having coffee with a very special group of ladies over the years.

Throughout her life, she was heard to say, "You have to accept what life hands you and make the best of it". She leaves a legacy of love, support, and compassion. She was a wonderful Mother, adored grandmother, devoted Baptist and a loyal Democrat. She touched many lives in her 88 years, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Preceded in death by her husband, one son, Jimmy, two grandsons Bobby Hill and Hughie Hill, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Dannye Mckaig; two sons and their wives, Ronald and Cathy Boggs and Butch and Cindi Boggs; one stepdaughter, Betty Hill; three stepsons, Tom Boggs, Pat Boggs, and Dick Boggs; her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law, Carmenia and Jeff Chaffin.

Services for Virginia will be held at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service, Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Dr. Larry Adams will officiate, assisted by Rev. Sam Hendry.

Ray O. Bolt

Ray O. Bolt went to be with the lord on May 29, 2005. Ray was born on March 11, 1929 in Brownwood, Texas. Descended from a pioneer Texas family which had lived there since 1852, he was the sixth of eleven children born to Carl J. and Lillie Ferrill Bolt.
Ray married Alice Brooks on January 8, 1956 in Shawnee, OK. They lived in Odessa, TX from 1956 to 1958 when they moved to the Shawnee area. They lived in McLoud since 1962. Ray was a master stonemason and bricklayer, building several beautiful homes, as well as much commercial work. An example of his skill is shown in OK. He also volunteered many hours building churches. He operated a backhoe business in McLoud for 30 years. He also had many hobbies, such as planting and grafting trees, fishing, restoring old cars, woodworking, and growing and harvesting pecans and strawberries. In McLoud, Ray was well known for his musical talents, and often sang specials in church. Aboe all else, he loved his Savior and his family.

Ray is survived by his wife of 49 years, and children Deborah K. Bolt of Schertz, TX; Denise and husband Phillip Miller of Moore, OK; and Jason Bolt of McLoud, OK; Two granddaughters, Rachel and Shannon Miller of Moore, OK; Four sisters, Anna Belle Lee of Quero, TX; Valrea and husband, Everett Thomas of Conroe, TX; Billy Jean and husband Gill Higgenbottom of Taylor, TX; and Fay Pope of Point Blank, TX. Four brothers: Carl J. Bolt, Jr., and wife Mary of Caldwell, TX; Jack and wife Irene Bolt of Crockett, TX; Judith and wife Joyce Bolt of Goldwaite, TX; and Joel David Bolt of Kingsland, TX; also numerous neices, and a host of friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Yvonne Williamson and Dorothy Johns.

The casket will be open until service time and not opened after service.

Funeral Services of Ray will be held at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service, Thursday, June2, 2005, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Clyde Quick officiating, burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

James K. Kinnamon

McLoud resident James K. Kinnamon, 73, passed away Thursday, June 2, at his home.
Mr. Kinnamon was born June 30, 1931, in Tecumseh to John R. and Anna Kinnamon.

He attended North Rock Creek and Dale Schools.

Mr. Kinnamon worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 27 years. He retired Dec. 31, 1987, as a section unit chief of structural repair.

On Dec. 9, 1950, he married Sue Cox northeast of Shawnee.

Mr. Kinnamon was a former member of the Dale Lions Club and coached summer league baseball at Dale for 16 years. He also was a triple A pitcher for JONCO.

He is preceded in death by his parents, twin grandsons and twin great-granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home; four children and their spouses, Debbie and Jimmie Roberts, Jimmy and Debi Kinnamon, all of Shawnee, Vera Hudson and Ron Zabel of McLoud, and Michael and Troylene Kinnamon of Meeker; 10 grandchildren; 20 grandchildren; five brothers and their spouses, R.S. "Bob" and Beulah Kinnamon of Shawnee, Johnny and Gladys Kinnamon of Dale, J.D. and Linda Kinnamon of Dale; four sisters, Wilma Lackey of Shawnee, Anna Mae Enocks of Plano, Texas, Rose Honeycutt of Shawnee, and Betty and Monty Barnett of Tulsa; two brothers-in-law and their wives, J.R. and Rebecca Cox of Oklahoma City, and James and Janice Cox of Shawnee; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Langston James Stone, infant son of James Dean Stone and Brandi Chantel (Copeland) Stone, was born and died Sunday, May 29, at Unity Health Center in Shawnee.
Survivors include his parents, James Dean Stone and Brandi Chantel (Copeland) Stone; sister, Jeanne Breanna; grandparents, Geri Stone of Meeker and Bobby Carol Grammer of Campbellsville, Ky.; aunts and uncles, Kenneth Stone of Meeker, Randee Stone and his wife, Allie, of Dallas, Texas, Deana Davis of Shawnee, Bridgette Copeland of Campbellsville, Bethany Copeland of California; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Lee Stone; and a cousin, Blake Ryan.

Services will be privately held under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Robert Craig

Robert "Bob" Craig, age 67, died Wednesday, June 1, in Shawnee.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

He was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to James Leonard and Lila May (Crossan) Craig.

He was reared in Colorado and was a graduate of Central High School in Grand Junction, Colo.

On July 3, 1969, he married Lou Bliven in Grand Junction, Colo.

He served 11 years in the U.S. Navy. Bob worked at Westinghouse, Scrivner Inc. and Eaton Corp. until retiring in 2002. He enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father and half-sister.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lou Craig, of the home; sons, Timothy Dale Craig of California, Richard Roy Craig of Chandler and Robert Reed Craig of Colorado; daughters, Charie4 Louise Craig of North Carolina, Davina Dee Craig-Sealock of Moore; two grandchildren, Devin Thomas Craig and Caitlin May Rose Craig of Gastonia, N.C.; mother, Lila May Craig of Colorado; brother, Charles Leonard Craig of Arizona; and a sister, Donna May Smith of Colorado.

Julianna Richards

Shawnee resident Julianna Richards, 82, died Friday at a local hospital.
Richards was born March 19, 1923, in Shawnee to Lon and Lova (Wooley) Taylor.

She married Edward Richards March 21, 1938, in Shawnee. They were married 67 years.

Richards loved music, working as a music teacher and singing in the Richards Trio. She was on the Oklahoma Music Teachers Honor Roll and served as president of several singing conventions in Oklahoma.

She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and was a dependable volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Richards was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Donnie Richards, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband of the home; five children and their spouses, Phyllis Stewart and her husband, M.D. McBride, of Shawnee; Jerry Richards and his wife, Lola, of Wanette; Terry Richards and his wife, Helen, of Shawnee; Kathy Stacy and her husband, Chuck, of Shawnee; Jamie Richards of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Minnie Taylor of Shawnee; several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Billy Maxwell, 69, Shawnee, died Friday, June 3.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks offciating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Maxwell was born June 18, 1935, in Tecumseh to Arlie and Ruby Jewel (Wilson) Maxwell. He was reared in the Tecumseh area. He also lived in Louisiana for 11 years before returning to Tecumseh 35 years ago.

On Nov. 20, 1970, he married Joyce Douglas in Shawnee. He served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed woodworking and worked as a carpenter most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jarad Maxwell; one brother and sister-in-law, Jelly and Rita Maxwell; and one sister and two brothers-in-law, Juanita and Troy Crownover and George Giles.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Joyce Maxwell, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Carla Maxwell of Tecumseh and Jimmy and Vickie Maxwell of Ada; four grandchildren; three great-granchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Abbie Maxwell of Tecumseh; and one sister, Marie Giles of Shawnee.

Hellen (Martin) Cranford

Hellen (Martin) Cranford, 79, Shawnee, died Friday, June 3, in Midwest City.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating.

Delores (McWater) Woolery

Delores (McWater) Woolery, 70, passed from this life June 2. She was born November 27, 1934. She retired from Tinker AFB as an aircraft mechanic.
She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and reading.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Woolery; 2 daughters, Velta Brewster and husband Rick, and LaDonna Fooladivanda and husband Nemat; five grandchildren: Geoffrey and Rory Brewster, Allex and Barrett Tarr, and Evan Fooladivanda.

She was preceded in death by Chester and Lucille McWater.

Graveside service was held Monday at Resthaven Cemetery, Shawnee under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.

Florence Amy Evans

Lifelong Lincoln County and longtime Chandler resident Florence Amy Evans, 86, departed this life on Sunday, June 5, in Oklahoma City.
Florence was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Chandler to Claud William and Hattie Ann (Day) Falkenstein.

She graduated from Chandler High School with the class of 1937. She obtained a bachelor of science degree from Central State University in Edmond and a master of science degree from Oklahoma State University.

On Nov. 25, 1942, she married Orville (Jack) Evans in Sapulpa.

Florence began her teaching career at the Lone Oak School, northeast of Chandler, in a one-room eight-grade school. She also taught at Kickapoo Valley, Oak Grove, Pleasant Hill, Parkland, Banner and Chandler School systems. She taught school for more than 40 years.

She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Chandler, PEO, DAR, Retired School Teacher's Association and volunteered at the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Mary Evans of Chandler; two daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Allan Crump of Little Rock, Ark., and Vera Farmer of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Ruth Falkenstein of Denver, Colo., and Zola Jones of Shawnee; four grandchildren, one great-grandson, other relatives and many friends.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Chandler, with Buster Sides officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Memorials may be made to the East Side Elementary Library, 901 CHS, Chandler, OK 74834.

Hellen (Martin) Cranford

Shawnee resident Hellen (Martin) Cranford, 79, died Friday, June 3, in Midwest City.
Mrs. Cranford was born May 2, 1926, in Lone Wolf, Okla., to Bryce and Edith Martin. She was reared in Lone Wolf.

On June 2, 1945, she married Clifford Cranford in Hobart.

Following her marriage, she moved to Shawnee. She also lived in Del City and Arlington, Texas. In 1987, she moved back to Shawnee where she has lived since.

Mrs. Cranford worked as a bookkeeper with the Associated Milk Producers until retiring.

Her grandchildren and family were the focal point of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 12, 1987, her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Peggy Cranford of Midwest City; one grandson and spouse, Paul and Mandy Cranford of Midwest City; two granddaughters and spouse, Heather and Ryan Hancock of Yuma, Ariz., and Leslie Cranford of Midwest City; one great-grandson, Carter Cranford of Midwest City; two great-granddaughters, Gracie Collier of Yuma and Claire Cranford of Midwest City; two sisters, Dorothy McDaniel of Langley, British Colombia, and Iris Dishman of Center, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Jannette Marie Falls

Shawnee resident Jannette Marie (Carpenter) Falls, 52, died Saturday, June 4, at her home.
She was born Nov. 10, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, to Dr. Earl and Juanita (Canales) Carpenter.

Falls was a 1970 graduate of Shawnee High School. She owned and operated the El Burrito Mexican Restuarant in Shawnee.

She was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Shawnee Elks Club. Falls enjoyed bowling, golf and swimming.

She touched many lives with her smile and compassionate heart and will be missed in her home of Shawnee where El Burrito restuarant was a gathering place for friends old and new.

Falls is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Earl Carpenter, in 2004.

Survivors include her mother, Juanita Carpenter; three brothers, Dr. Gary Carpenter D.C. and his wife, Lisa, of Choctaw, Dr. Bruce Carpenter D.C. and his wife, Naifeh, of Shawnee, and Greg Carpenter of Shawnee; two sisters, Yvonne Bannister of Green Mountain Falls, Colo., and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Armstrong of Shawnee; three nephews, two nieces and several aunts, uncles and many friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Joachim Spexarth, O.S. B. officiating.

Ashdown, Ark., resident Jeannie Louise Brooks, 56, died Friday, June 3, at Texarkana, Ark.

Shawnee resident Clarence Holloman, 87, died Monday, June 6, at a local nursing home.
A private burial was held Tuesday at the Fairview Mausoleum under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Debbie (Clem) Blalock

Shawnee resident Debbie (Clem) Blalock, 52, died Monday, June 6, at a local nursing home.
She was born July 6, 1952, in Shawnee to Robert Arthur & Betty Jean (Brakebill) Clem.

Blalock attended Shawnee High School through her junior year and graduated from an Oklahoma City High School.

She married Freddie Blalock and he preceded her in death.

Lillie "Kay" Ives

Shawnee resident Lillie "Kay" Ives, 60, passed away Monday, June 6, in Oklahoma City.
She was born Aug. 22, 1944, in Palo Alto, Calif., to Charles Elmer and Jewel Mae (Denson) Winton.

Kay retired as a youth guidance specialist for the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center. She loved her grandchildren, family gatherings, picnics, and camping trips with the family. She also enjoyed reading, playing games and researching.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rita Brennan.

Kay is survived by two daughters, Kelly Coffman and husband Chuck of Shawnee, and Andrea McMillan and husband Hal of Ruther Glen, Va.; four sisters, Terry Hill of Oklahoma City, Pam Snead and husband Ron of Fair Oaks, Calif., Julia Heringer and husband Ed of Edmond, and Jo Ann Hennessey and husband Jim of Pilot Hill, Calif.; four grandchildren, Andrew Coffman, Sarah Lyon, Nathan Coffman and Kayte Coffman, all of Shawnee; and many friends and family.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Little Chapel of Roses with burial following in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Ray Emmett O'Daniel

Maud resident Ray Emmett O'Daniel, 81, died Tuesday, June 7.
Ray was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Elmore City, Okla., to Emmett Hern (Jack) and Grace Pearl (Moore) O'Daniel. He descended from a hard working father and mother who moved to Maud in 1926.

On December 26, 1946, he married Betty Jo Richard after he came home from serving in the Navy during World War II.

He touched many peoples lives with his compassion, funny stories and good humor. He loved to be around people.

Ray worked as a butcher for his father in the O'Daniel Grocery until 1981, when he became the owner.

He belonged to the volunteer fire department of Maud until he retired. He was a former member of the Maud City Council, and the Maud school board. He loved working with his cattle and in his garden. He enjoyed sharing his fruits and vegetables with others. He was saved and a member of the Church of God in Maud. He loved his wife, son, daughters and grandchildren very much!

He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Charley O'Daniel and wife Trela, of Yukon; four daughters, Kathryn Sue "Susie" O'Daniel of Maud, Mary Hopper and husband Clarence of Maud, Debbie Malcom of Maud, Penny Hurd and husband Brent of Bridgeport, Texas; two brothers, Howard O'Daniel of Ada, Curtis O'Daniel of Maud; one sister, Jeanne Watkins of Purcell; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Maud High School Auditorium with Charley O'Daniel and Horace Griffin officiating under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

James William Mills

Midwest City resident James Willliam Mills, 84, passed away Thursday, June 2, following a stroke.
He was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Acme to James Hodge and Maudie Beck Mills. He was raised around Rush Springs with a brother and three sisters.

In 1942, he joined the Army Air Force and proudly served in World War II. Mills was wounded by shrapnel and received the decoration of the FAME Campaign Medal with three bronze stars and a Good Conduct Medal.

On July 4, 1945, he married his sweetheart, Mary Alice Poland, in Borger, Texas.

Following a honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a welder in Fritch, Texas, in the Carbon Black plants. Their two daughters, Shannon and Sharon, were both born in Borger. His welding skills eventually led the family to Midwest City where James was employed at Tinker Air Force Base for 25 years.

His retirement years were spent with family, building utility trailers and "settin' up" at Mary's Swap Meat.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Shannon Garrison and husband Troy, and Sharon Power and companion Tim Young; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Miller of Ponca City; many loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside service with military honors will be 1 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service.

Herbert L. Large

McLoud resident Herbert L. Large, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 8, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born June 8, 1928, in McLoud to Jewel and Nettie Large. He attended McLoud schools and was the owner of H&F Lumber in Midwest City until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McLoud.

His parents; a son, Lawrence Large, and two daughters, Laura Villines and Ella Large, preceded him in death. He married Jackie Lou Trollinger December 5, 1949, in Seminole. She preceded him in death Dec. 26, 1991.

Mr. Large is survived by a daughter, Rita Hale of Lone Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Joan Large of Caddo; six grandsons; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanetta Sumner and her husband, Don of Shawnee, and Bonnie Kubiak of Oklahoma City, and two brothers, Fred Large and his wife, Ann, of Edmond, and Ernest Large of Temple, Texas.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in McLoud with the Rev. Ernest Graham officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bill Derrick. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Billy Joe Collins

Prague resident Billy Joe Collins departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, at his home.
He was born April 10, 1934, in Paden to E.C. "Dooley" and Helen Pauline (Roberson) Collins.

On Oct. 24,1952, he married Willie Pearl Watts in Okemah.

Collins retired from Tinker Air Force Base and was a member of Burnett Mission Church in Paden.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Jan. 22, 2002; and his brother, Junior Collins.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Michael and Connie Collins of Prague, and Roger and Jenny Collins of Prague; daughters and sons-in-law, Oletta and Gary Opela of Prague, Charlotte and Ronnie VanBrunt of Prague; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Ida Mae Collins of Paden, and James and Sheila Collins of Eufaula; sister, Juanita Kendrick of Del City; and 14 grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the Burnett Mission Church, Paden, with Brother Paul Heard officiating. Burial will follow at Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Herbert L. Large

McLoud resident Herbert L. Large, 76, died Tuesday, June 7, at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Mary Payne Wasson

Mary Payne Wasson, Shawnee, died Wednesday, June 8, at home following a lifelong battle with her health. She was affectionately known by many as "Nana."
She was born on Feb. 22, 1920, in Bainbridge, N.Y., the only child of Harold L. and Mabel Thompson Payne. She graduated from Afton High School (New York) in 1938, where her mother taught, and Syracuse University in 1942, earning a bachelor of arts degree in education. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and held many offices.

Following college graduation, Mary taught school for one year as a high school English teacher in New York.

Mary and Walt Wasson met on a blind date for Walt's 20th birthday in 1939. They were married on April 20, 1944, in Bainbridge, N.Y., while Walt was on furlough from th U.S. Army Air Corps based in Gila Bend, Ariz. She joined him there following completion of her teaching contract in June, 1944. They were married for 56 years at the time of Walt's death in August 2000. Her wedding ring never left her hand.

During World War II, Mary served as a civilian plane spotter with the Civil Defense in Bainbridge and Gila Bend. She also served as the base librarian in Gila Bend.

Mary was the "good company wife" for Corning Glass Works, moving from Corning, N.Y. to Muskogee, back to Corning, Big Flats, and Oneonta, N.Y. before moving to Shawnee in 1969 where Walt eventually retired.

Mary had served on the Altar Guild at Emmanuel Episcopal Church and was a long time member of the Garden Club's Rose Unit in Shawnee, holding several offices and was an active volunteer mother in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts USA and Camp Fire Girls and often joked that she had proudly passed eight-grade math five times (her own plus four children!)

For an only child who always wanted a large family, Mary did quite well. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Charles Duryee of Shawnee, and Mary Jane and Ron Hughes of Oklahoma City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Keith and Betty Wasson of Roland, and David Wasson of Shawnee; seven granddaughters and their spouses, Beverly and Scott Larson of Valrico, Fla., Sandra and Pat Spencer of Conesus, N.Y., Katelynn Wasson of Roland, Brandi and Justin Johnson of Tecumseh, Cherry Brooke and Stephen Mitchell of Ardmore, Susan Wasson of Shawnee and Kelley Hughes of Oklahoma City; six grandsons and their spouses, David Bostwick of Geneseo, N.Y., Bryan and Mellissa Wasson and Stephen and Christy Wasson all of Roland, Logan Wasson of Idabel and Eric Hughes and Tom Hughes, both of Oklahoma City, as well as five great-grandchildren, Allison Spencer and Taylor Spencer of Conesus, N.Y., Shellby Wasson of Roland, and Tiler Johnson and "Bubba" Cole Johnson of Tecumseh, and numerous generations of nieces, nephews and cousins through marriage.

The family wishes to thank the kind nurses and caregivers of Loving Care Home Health, especially Angie, Debra, Natalie who helped to make it possible for Nana to remain in her cherished home of 34 years, the longest she ever lived anywhere.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Clark Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in the Columbarium at Emmanual Episcopal Church in Shawnee where she will join Walter once again for eternity.

Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Evelyn Marie Chatham

Shawnee resident Evelyn Marie Chatham, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, June 8.
She was born Feb. 4, 1931 in Mena, Ark. to George and Leota Kemp. Evelyn was a housewife and mother who loved her family and enjoyed working in the yard and fishing.

She is survived by three sons, Johnny Chatham and Barbara of Mustang, Gary Chatham and Barbara of Shawnee, Keith Chatham of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Debbie Carpenter and Ken of Mustang, Aymee Farris of Oklahoma City, Angie Chatham of Arlington, Texas, Johnny Wood of Denver, Colo., and Shannon Wood of Oklahoma City; two great-grandsons, Grant and Garrett Carpenter; two sisters, Leota Nivens of Arkedelphia, Ark., and Judy Turpin of Pineridge, Ark., and her loving pet, Codie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Chatham in 1984 and grandson Johnny Glenn Chatham in 1994.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with burial following at Dale Cemetery, Dale, Okla.

Frankie Maydean Prater

Prague resident Frankie Maydean Prater, 65, passed away Wednesday, June 8 at her home. She was born July 11, 1939 in Paden to Frank and Johnie Mae Cobble. She grew up in the Paden community and attended schools there, graduating from high school in 1957. She then attended Charles Beauty School in Shawnee and became a beautician. She opened Frankie's Beauty Shop in Prague and operated the shop for 27 years before retiring in the mid-1970s. She and Charles Prater were married in 1956.
Her father, Frank Cobble; one son, Michael Shawn Prater, and a brother, Billy Dean Cobble, preceded her in death.

Frankie is survived by her husband, Charles Prater of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Tim Denny of Pawnee; her mother, Johnie Mae Cobble of Paden; two granddaughters, Shanon Good of Prague, and Amber Good of Winfield, Kan.; one step-granddaughter Rachelle Denny of Cleveland; two nieces, Carrie Henry of Paden and Lora Cobble of Prague; one nephew Dennis Cobble of Paden; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Blue of Shawnee, and Anna Cobble of Wewoka.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Burnett Mission north of Paden, with the Rev. Paul Heard officiating assisted by the Rev. Tim Emmons.

Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery. Walker Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Rheann Rogers

Shawnee resident Rheann Rogers, 63, passed away Tuesday, June 7, at her home. She was born May 20, 1942 in San Diego, Calif., to Rhudell and Kathleen Akin. She graduated from Escondido High School. On Feb. 23, 1962 she married Graden Edward Rogers. She worked as a graphic artist.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death. Rheann is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Lindsey and her husband Scott of Prague, Michelle Olenick and her husband Billy of Shawnee, and Tracy Farrill and her husband Steve of Tecumseh; six grandchildren Clint Lindsey, Chris Lindsey, Todd Jackson, Michael Rogers, Heather Farrill and Michael Farrill; two brothers Rudy Akin and his wife Julie, Bill Akin and his wife Shirlee; one sister Carole Paxton and her husband Richard and, life long friends Shirley Johnson and Sonny Carson.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11 at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. J. Clifton Briscoe officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mason Garrett Presley

Healdton resident Mason Garrett Presley, 19, died Tuesday, June 7, in Ardmore.
He was born April 19, 1986, in Oklahoma City to Gary and Shelley Bodkin Presley.

Mason attended Healdton Public Schools his entire life, graduating in May. He was very active in high school sports, lettering three years in baseball and basketball and four years in football. Although Mason enjoyed all sports, he loved being with his teammates even more, on and off the field.

During his sophomore year he was awarded basketball Oilfield Conference All-Star, All Conference and All-Area Honorable Mention. During his junior year, the team made the first round of the high school football state playoffs. The baseball team he played for was the Class 2A regional champion and made it to the Class 2A state quarter final game. During Mason's senior year, the football team made it to the Class A state semi-finals. Mason was starting center and defensive end for the Bulldogs and was chosen A-4 all-district, all-area honorable mention, Senior all-star and chosen to represent the West team in the Southern Oklahoma football classic game.

In addition to sports accomplishments, Mason was a member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the Senior 2005 Masonic Award. He also was a member of the Healdton First Baptist Church. Family and friends will miss his endearing smile.

Mason is preceded in death by his grandmother, Jeanene.

Survivors include his parents, Gary and Shelley Presley of Healdton; sister, Meredith Presley of Healdton; grandparents, Warren and Jerry Bodkin of Maud, Bill Presley of Maud; aunts and uncles, Herb and Kelley Buchanan of Maud, Kathy Bodkin of Jacksonville, Fla., Brad and Janis Bodkin of Maud, Billy and Pam Presley of Maud, Tony and Carla Long of Shawnee; cousins, Brian, Brett, Lesley, Dustin, Kash, Bryce, Chad, Scott and Cara; special friend, Joan Brown; numerous other close friends and classmates.

Bearers will be Casey Powell, Bobby Nix, Todd Pierce, Caleb Brewer, Jordy Martin and Jared Wilson. Honorary bearers will be the Healdton High School Class of 2005.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church, Healdton, with Brother Phil Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Spivey Funeral Home of Healdton.
