Verlene Brannon

Shawnee resident Verlene (Talton) Brannon, 62, died Thursday, Dec. 30, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
She was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Earlsboro to Harry Talton and Fannie Mae (Gaulding) Talton.

She was baptized at a young age at New Hope in Earlsboro. She attended school in Earlsboro and Shawnee and graduated from Harjo High School in 1961.

She was married to Isaac O. Brannon Sr. and later to Raymond Reese.

She recently became a supervisor at Tinker Air Force Base, where she had worked for 30 years.

She was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee, where she had served as past president of the Missions Group, was a member of the choir and served as an usher. She also was an usher at Central Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother, one sister, Betty Lou Bennett and one grandchild, Shayla Nicole Brannon.

Survivors include four children, George Charles Brannon of Shawnee, VerDonna (Kizzee) Brannon of Oklahoma City, Diana Brannon of Shawnee and Isaac O. Brannon Jr., of Holdenville; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Joe Brannon of Oklahoma City and Tony Lee Talton of Earlsboro; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Ella Ruth and James Black of Oklahoma City, Elenor Gardner of Earlsboro, Beatrice Talton of Earlsboro and Mildred Ann Kennedy of Shawnee; four aunts, Lurena (Gaulding) Douglas of Shawnee, Vern (Talton) Gold, R. (Talton) Parker and Debra (Talton) Ibe; four uncles and an aunt-in-law, Charles and Nannie Talton of Okmulgee, Jackie Talton of Oklahoma City, Tommy Talton of Okmulgee and Herbert Lockey Talton of Oklahoma City; father-in-law, Isaac E. Brannon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James O. and Saundra Brannon; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Shawnee. Burial will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Home.

Keith Alan Bovee
Former Shawnee resident Keith Alan Bovee, 83, of Salem, Ore., died Wednesday, Dec. 29, of cancer.

He was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Shawnee to Glen Peter and Vina Irene Bovee.

As a Boy Scout, he earned his Eagle Scout badge. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1939.

Bovee entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 when the United States entered World War II. He was a cryptologic security specialist in Washington, D.C.

On Sept. 1, 1942, he married Pauline Elizabeth "Betty" Dunbar of Tulsa in Washington, D.C. Upon his discharge from the Navy, the couple returned to Shawnee, where Bovee graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1950. He worked as a partner in Penn Drilling Co.

He and his family moved to Norman in 1959, and he joined the civil service as a supervisory accountant at Tinker Air Force Base.

Upon retiring in 1981, he and his wife moved to Oregon, where they lived in Eugene, Keizer and Salem. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Salem.

An infant brother, Glen Harold Bovee, and one brother, Kenneth E. Bovee preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Salem; sister, Reta Eunice Henderson of Norman; sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy Keith Bovee of Herndon, Va., and Douglas Alan and Nancy Bovee of Salem; grandchildren, Hiroyuki Nicholas Bovee of Miyazaki, Japan, Kirsten Michelle Bovee and her fiance, Jake Blaufass, of Missoula, Mont., and Katherine Elizabeth Bovee and her husband, Philippe Blanc, of Portland, Ore.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Tulsa. Arrangements are under the direction of Restlawn Funeral Home of Salem, Ore. Memorials may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice, 2700 Market St. NE, Salem OR 97301

Lena Omelia Webb
Former Midwest City resident Lena Omelia (Levisay) Webb, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 1, in Canyon, Texas.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Shuman and husband Dan of Canyon, Texas, and Gay Joseph and husband Mike of Oklahoma City; stepson, Phil Webb and wife Connie of Springfield, Mo.; stepdaughter, Mary Kenley and husband Dave of Chandler, Ariz.; two brothers, Claude Levisay and Leo Levisay both of Meeker; sister Pearle Kinnear of Pawnee; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Road Baptist Church in Nicoma Park with the Rev. David Brinkley and the Rev. Leo Allard officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Garden in Oklahoma City under the direction of Resthaven Memorial Garden of Oklahoma City.

John Clifford Copeland, Sr.
Tecumseh resident John Clifford Copeland, Sr., 77, died Friday, December 31, in Tecumseh.

Mr. Copeland passed away peacefully in his sleep while deer hunting with his rifle in his hand and his finger on the trigger and his thumb on the hammer.

He was born June 26, 1927, in Tecumseh, to Joseph Benton and Thelma (Knight) Copeland.

In 1945, he married Dorothea McEuin. He later married Patricia Ann Combs on July 5, 1973 in Tecumseh.

He was reared in Tecumseh. From 1950 until 1960, he lived in Omaha, Nebraska while working as a union plumber. He returned to Tecumseh and opened Alco Plumbing and then ventured into other business endeavors including John�s Short Stop and Copeland Laundry Mat.

He attended Tecumseh Schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A member of IOOF, he had served as Grand Master in the Omaha chapter. He was also a member of the American Legion and the first Presbyterian Church. He had served as the city building inspector and had served on the city council for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Copeland of the home; sons & daughter-in-law, John Clifford, II and Elaine Copeland, Thomas J. Copeland, and Jim B. Copeland, all of Tecumseh; Mother, Thelma Copeland of Tecumseh; brother & sister-in-law, Paul and Cyndi Copeland of Fort Worth, Texas; step children and their spouses, Rick and Cynda Cole of Harrah, Marilyn and Ray Trask of Tecumseh, Valerie and Mike Pierce of Coweta, Debbie and Chris Brown of Broken Arrow; five grandchildren and their spouses, John Clifford, III and Sharyl Copeland of Tecumseh, Joseph and Jennifer Copeland of Norman, Tessy Copeland of Tecumseh, Angel Copeland of Tecumseh, and Jimmy Copeland of Tecumseh; nine step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rider and Rev. Chad Brodrick officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Clara Alice Griffin
Former Shawnee resident Clara Alice Griffin, 97, of Mineral Wells, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 31, in Mineral Wells.

She was born Sept. 30, 1907, in Tennessee.

On Dec. 26, 1925, she married Leroy Griffin in Huber Springs, Ark. They moved to Shawnee, where he was in construction for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Steve Griffin; and daughters, Betty Juane Griffin and Reveta Keller.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ladawn Griffin of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Paul Dooley of Athens, Texas; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held in Shawnee.

Juanita VanAntwerp
Shawnee resident Juanita "Auntner" VanAntwerp, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Shawnee.

She was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Hazel, Okla., to Andrew and Fannie (Rutherford) Sharp. She attended Hazel schools.

She was a lifelong resident of Pottawatomie County and had lived in Shawnee for the last several years.

She married Bob VanAntwerp in Sayre.

VanAntwerp was a homemaker. She was employed at Adwans Clothing Store in Maud. She also worked as a nurse at nursing homes in Shawnee and Maud and was employed by Vandever Oil Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 25, 1985, her parents and infant brothers.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie and Joe Johnson of Seminole; nieces, Debra Kinnamon of Shawnee and Emma Johnson of Concord, N.C.; nephews, Jimmy "Corky" Johnson of Concord, N.C., Kraig Sexton of Shawnee, Eric Johnson of Matthews, S.C., Brent Johnson of Concord, N.C., and Zachary Johnson of Concord, N.C; and other friends and relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rider and the Rev. Chad Brodrick officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Betty Townes
Macomb resident Betty Townes, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Tecumseh.

She was born July 19, 1929, in Forsyth, Mo., to Frank and Stella (Echols) Lecklider.

She was reared in Wilburton and had also lived in Stillwater. She attended Wilburton High School. She also attended Southeastern College in Wilburton for two years.

Townes had lived in Macomb since 1954 and was a homemaker.

She was a past matron of the Murrow Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Shawnee, No. 464, and grand representative in Nebraska

She was preceded in death by a son Frank Townes and her parents.

Survivors include her husband, William H. "Buck" Townes of the home; daughter, Treisa Townes of Tecumseh; granddaughter and spouse, Heather and Erick Capron of Prague; one great-grandson; two aunts, Jay Selby of Wilburton and Leona McCrabb of Muskogee; and special "daughter" she helped raise, Mary Dangerfield Billingsley of Hope, Ark.; and other family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Witten officiating. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Jewel Igleheart Hutcherson
Jewel Igleheart Hutcherson, 95, of Paden died Monday, Jan. 3, in Prague.

She was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Mason, the daughter of Dan and Rosa (McElroy) Nichols. She was a lifelong resident of Okfuskee County.

In 1927, she married Homer Igleheart in Paden. He preceded her in death in 1969. In 1977, she married Alton Hutcherson, who preceded her in death in 1984.

During the 1940s, she was the postmistress of the Paden Post Office and owned and operated a restaurant. She was a charter member of Paden First Baptist Church.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include a son and daughter-in-law, Warren and Frances Igleheart of Paden; a daughter, Sharon Kitchen of Paden; stepsister, Dolly Phillips of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Gary Igleheart and Alecia Frailey; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Paden with the Rev. Ledtkey McIntosh and the Rev. Brett Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Paden. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague

Bridget Marie Sterrett
Oklahoma City resident Bridget Marie Sterrett, 42, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Oklahoma City.

She was born Sept. 21, 1962, in Oklahoma City to Kenneth E. and Mamie L. (Neal) Sterrett.

She was reared in Oklahoma City and moved to the Tecumseh area in 1977. She lived in Tecumseh until 2002 when she returned to Oklahoma City.

She attended Tecumseh High School.

She was owner and operator of Daylight Donuts and several other ventures.

She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Charles Robert Sterrett.

Survivors include her fianc�, Paul King of Oklahoma City; father, Kenneth Sterrett of Norman; children, Terina Jean Tooman of Shawnee, Jennifer Tooman of Oklahoma City and Dennis Eugene "Bubba" Tooman II of Shawnee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Tonda Sterrett of Tecumseh and Billy and Debbie Sterrett of Norman; sister and brother-in-law, Eddie and Orval Brewer of Wellston; niece, Sierra Brewer of Wellston; and grandchildren, Dakota Tooman of Shawnee, Kourtney Ann Marie Tooman of Oklahoma City and Riley Rosser Tooman of Oklahoma City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Frazee officiating. Burial will be at Brown Cemetery.

Shawnee resident Jake T. Reese, 85, died Monday, Jan. 3, in Shawnee.
He was born Jan. 29, 1919, in Guin, Ala., to Henry and Cora (Barker) Osborn. He moved to Shawnee when he was 4 years old and has lived here since.

He was a rancher/farmer most of his life.

He was a member of National Rifle Association.

He married Lahoma Rowe in 1940 in Shawnee; they have celebrated 64 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sons, Dean Reese and Larry Mack Reese.

Survivors include his wife, Lahoma Reese, of the home; two sons, Jerry Reese and his wife, Anita, of Daisy, and Tony Reese and his wife, Robin, of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Hester Britt of Shawnee; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Akin officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Frances O. Massey
Shawnee resident Frances O. Massey, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, at a local nursing home.

She was born Jan. 6, 1911, in Sparks to George Franklin and Mary Drucilla (Sorrels) Massey.

She attended elementary school at Fanshowes. When Massey was 2, the family moved to Arkansas and moved back to Oklahoma in 1918. In 1925, her family moved to Sparks, where she graduated from high school as valedictorian of her class in 1943. She attended and graduated from Southwestern Bible School (now Southwestern Assemblies of God University.) She received her associate of art degree from Southwestern Junior College, where she joined the staff at Southwestern. She was the manager of the book store at Southwestern until her 1976 retirement.

In late 1977, she and her sister, Margery, moved to Shawnee.

She attended First Assembly of God in Shawnee, where she served as organist and teacher of the Adult Ladies Sunday school class for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, Margery Massey and a niece, Lola Pickens.

Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Garland E. and Marcene Massey of Shawnee; two nieces, Honnah Myers and her husband, John, of Shawnee and Maxine Wiley of Tecumseh; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. James Walter officiating. Burial will follow at White Dove Cemetery, Sparks.

Sophia L. Brezny
Oklahoma City resident Sophia L. Brezny, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Oklahoma City.

She was born Dec. 13, 1916, in Prague to Ernest and Bessie Anna (Ruzicka) Brezny.

She worked at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II and was a radiological technician at Dr. O'Donoghue's clinic for 33 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Old Cathedral in Oklahoma City and the St. Joseph's Altar Society.

Her parents; one sister, Mayme Ogburn; and two nieces, Cecelia Hull and Adelene Brooks, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sister, Christine Pospisil of Prague; nephew, Tim Brooks and his wife, Lisa; and other relatives, including her cousin, Joe Brezny and his wife, Bobbie, of Oklahoma City.

A prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Prague.

The family suggest remembrances be made to any charity.

James Rufus Staggs
Shawnee resident James Rufus Staggs, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 30, at his home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Townville, Anderson Co., S.C., to Nathan Monroe and Macie (Whitfield) Staggs.

He was a Marine and served in World War II and Korea. Before retiring, he had a maintenance operation in Oklahoma City. He was a trim carpenter and licensed heat and air tech. Since retiring to Shawnee, he was a dealer at the Old Shawnee Town Flea Market.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Bruce Staggs.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Billie (Ratliff) Staggs of the home; daughter, Nikki (Staggs) Hicks and husband, James "Sonny" Hicks, and three granddaughters of Tenneson, Ga.; his sister and brother-in-law, Willie Sue (Staggs) and Vic Hanson; several nieces and nephews of Kokomo, Ind.; two step-daughters, Sherry Hightower of Houston and Kim (Bell) and husband, Jeffery Thibodeau of Port Arthur, Texas; five step-grandchildren; and a cousin, Emma Selman of Williamston, S.C.

Cremation service was handled by Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Wichita, Kan., resident Esther Ruth Loftis, 88, formerly of Shawnee, died Thursday, Jan. 6, in Wichita.
She was born May 14, 1916, in Kingfisher to Perry and Lena Copeland. She attended Big Four high school in Kingfisher, Okla.

She married Alton Loftis and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Shawnee

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers.

Surviviors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Phillip Smith of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren, Tammy Self of Dallas, Texas, and Forrest Smith of Wichita, Kan.; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shawnee resident Clara Lee Rosson, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Shawnee.
She was born Dec. 25, 1918, to John Henderson and Nora (Cates) Henderson in Duke.

In 1935, she married George "Buck" Rosson in Kingfisher. In 1946, they moved to Shawnee and have lived here since.

She worked for Montgomery Wards, the Shawnee School system and was a homemaker. She was a member of Community of Christ Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1995, one sister, Juanita Stroud, and one brother, John "Manny" Henderson.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jackie Rosson of Longview, Texas, and Bob and Brenda Rosson of Shawnee; grandchildren, Donna Westmoreland and husband Jimmie of Gladewater, Texas, Jason, Aaron and Joseph Rosson of Shawnee; and two great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jim C. Head

Stillwater resident Jim C. Head, 58, died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Stillwater.
He was born Jan 8, 1947, in Shawnee to James W. and Mary Ellen Head.
Head attended St. Gregory's and served in the military from 1967 to 1969. He spent 1968 in Vietnam as an infantryman and received numerous distinguished service awards, including a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, and a National Defense Service Medal.
He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He served as president of the Stillwater branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers for seven years and a shop steward for many years. At the time of his death he was serving as the Northwest District board member for the state of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was named Eagle of the Year in 2002. He also served as conductor and chaplain for the lodge.
Upon returning home from the service, he married Paula J. Grove.
He was proceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, William Lance Head and wife Kristin of Claremore, Kent Wayne Head and wife Kelly of Owasso, TAylor Head and Gracy Head of Claremore, one brother, David Chostner of Aiken, S.C., two sisters,Sandra Watson of Shawnee and Carol Head of High Point N.C.

Cynthia Jewell Brown
Cynthia Jewell Brown, 98, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Owasso.
She was born Nov. 23, 1907, in Albion to Elisha Thomas and Mattie Belle (Hammond) Kinsey.

She grew up in Bromide and attended college at Murray State in Tishomingo. She continued her education at East Central State University and received her master's degree in education in 1957.

She married Lloyd Kenneth Brown June 20, 1928, in Tishomingo.

She taught elementary school for more than 40 years, 21 of those years in the Seminole Public Schools.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Seminole.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Bonna Brown of Tulsa; daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Jerry Fielder of Okmulgee; five grandsons, Steve Fielder, Greg Fielder, Mark Brown, Brent Brown and Jason Brown; one granddaughter, Sherry Fielder Wise; and eight great-grandchildren.

Fern Fowler Maylen

Tecumseh resident Fern Fowler Maylen, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Oklahoma City.
She was born May 24, 1914, in Salem to Elmer Augusta Fowler and Anna Lenore Newcomb.

She was a school teacher, teaching in Graham and Dewar public school systems.

She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association and Kappa Kappa Iota.

On July 28, 1946, she married Louis Everett Maylen at Henryetta .

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James Henry, Elmer Elwood "Goob," Floyd Douglas Sr. "Preach" and Tommy Ross Fowler Sr.; six sisters, Lillie Lee Fowler Eslick, Julia Cordelia Fowler Moody, Emma Marie Fowler, Molly Barbara Fowler Smith, Myrtle Zelma Blanche Fowler and Dossie Ainah Fowler Chapman.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Everett Louis and Rebecca Maylen of Shawnee; three granddaughters and their husbands, Robyn Suzanne Maylen Zechmann and Bernd of Graz, Austria, Kimberly Rose Maylen Paxson and Kevin of Shawnee and Amber Leigh-Ann Maylen of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Patricia Fowler of Salem; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church in Salem with the Rev. James W. Smith, the Rev. Robert D. Fowler, the Rev. Tommy R. Fowler Jr., and Matthew Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

Chris Hudson

Former Tecumseh and Perkins resident Chris Hudson, 35, of Wewoka died Saturday, Jan. 8, in Wewoka.

He was born Aug. 5, 1969, in Holdenville to Gilbert and Kathryn "Kathy" (Stokes) Hudson.

He attended Tecumseh schools from kindergarten through seventh grade and Perkins schools from eighth grade through high school. He was reared in Tecumseh and Perkins. He later moved to the Seminole area and had lived in Wewoka the past few months.

Hudson worked as a welder. He also owner and operator of Elementree Design computer software company. He was an artist and musician.

Survivors include a daughter, Kierstin Hudson of the home; son, Zakkary Hudson of the home; parents, Gilbert and Kathy Hudson of Cromwell; brother, Shane Hudson of Cromwell; and grandmother, Sammy Lou Hudson of Ada.

Service is 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

McLoud resident James Robert Wilson, 66, died Monday, Jan. 10.

Lecoma Daniel

Shawnee resident Lecoma Daniel, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, at a local hospital.
She was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Muskogee to Noah Hines and Cora Bell (Smith) Hines.

She was a homemaker. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Stroud and Oklahoma Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee. She lived in Shawnee for more than 40 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Loyal L. Daniel; one brother, Jewel Hines; and three sisters, Ozeal Hampton, Dotsi Potts and Ginny Horton.

Survivors include six children, Charlotte Pernell and husband Tad of Shawnee, Loyal D. Daniel and wife Sharon of Meeker, Sanford Daniel and wife Julie of Shawnee, LeAndra Bates and husband Ralph of Shawnee, Michael Daniel and wife Regina of Shawnee, and Terry Henderson and husband Ken of McLoud; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Noah Hines of Shawnee; three sisters, Clara Collins, Ineva Ayers, and Helen Cullison and husband Calvin, all of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral.

William C. Horne Jr.
Holdenville resident William C. "Chet" Horne Jr., 72, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at an Ada hospital.

He was born May 29, 1932, in Holdenville to William Chester and Eva Mae (Hawthorne) Horne. He graduated from Holdenville High School and earned his MBA from The University of Oklahoma.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after attaining the rank of captain and serving overseas in Europe for several years.

He was a certified real estate appraiser, specializing in the appraisal of Sonic restaurant systems. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Twylah Horne and Lee and Judy Horne, all of Ada; two nieces and their husbands, Jenonne and Ned Kessler of Edmond and Jeanetta and Steve Bagwell of Prague; nephews, Steve Horne and wife Allison, Jay Horne and wife Kinda, and Bill Horne Jr. and fianc� Mandy Campbell, all of Ada; four great-nephews; nine great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside service was Thursday at Holdenville City Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Elkins officiating. Parks Brothers Funeral Service directed arrangements.

Shawnee resident Tollie Zitterkopf, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, at a Seminole nursing home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Strothers Chapel in Maple Grove Cemetery with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

O.T. Stockton
O.T. "Dutch" Stockton, 86, of Tecumseh died Thursday, Jan. 13, in Shawnee.

He was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Clarita to Marion V. and Annie Mae (Mackey) Stockton. He attended school in Vamoosa, in Seminole County.

He had lived in Tecumseh since 1964.

Stockton served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945, in the European theatre with the 45th infantry.

He married Emma Elliott Feb. 2, 1946, in Konawa. They were married 59 years.

He owned and operated O.T. Stockton Trucking Co. Later, he owned and operated Town and Country Mobile Home Village.

He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.

Stockton was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vernon Stockton.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Stockton of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and T.J. Caldwell of Norman; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Michele Stockton of Pennsylvania; one sister, Bertie Stockton of Tecumseh; two grandsons and spouse, Gary Williams and wife, Carrie, of Mesa, Ariz., and Justin Williams of Tecumseh; two granddaughters, Jenna and Kayla Stockton, both of Pennsylvania; one great-granddaughter; and many other family.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Church of Christ, with Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Norman resident Deborah Diane Neal, 49, died Thursday, Jan 13, in Norman.
She was born Jan. 14, 1955, in Tahlequah to the Rev. Dr. Lois V. Glory-Neal and the late Rev. Oliver B. Neal Jr.

Survivors include her mother of Shawnee; brothers, Dean Neal of Plano, Texas, and Oliver B. Neal III of Modesto, Calif.; sisters, Alma Johnson of Shawnee, Janie Dixon of Downey, Calif., Mary Holstein of Oklahoma City and Linda Neal of Blanchard.

Wake service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the Norman First American United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Norman First American United Methodist Church, Norman, with the Rev. Jeff Feazier and the Rev. David Wilson officiating.
