Charles William Lasley
Seminole resident Charles William Lasley, 34, died Saturday,
July 30, in an automobile accident in Lincoln County.
He was born June 20, 1971, in Oklahoma City to Charles D. Lasley and Barbara
Pennock.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Pennock and Geneieve
Pennock, and an aunt, Billie Ruth Pennock.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Lasley of Seminole; six children, Sharlette
Lasley of Oklahoma City, Charles Lasley, William Lasley, Tori Lasley, Trinity
Lasley and Ty Lasley all of Seminole; parents Charles D. Lasley of Shawnee and
Barbara Pennock of Seminole; four sisters and one brother, Shawn Lasley, Dawn
and Johnny Coon, Stephanie and Vincent Brown, Jennifer Lasley and Richard Lasley
all of Shawnee; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee. Burial
will follow at Wakolee Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Elizabeth "Betty" M. Weatherley
Elizabeth "Betty" M. Weatherley, 73, of Meeker departed this
life Friday, July 29, at a Shawnee hospital.
She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Shirley Ernest Fleming and
Ruby Lee (Miller) Fleming.
She was married Jan. 7, 1950 in DesArc, Ark. to Franklin A. Weatherley. They
moved to Oklahoma in 1967. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Phillip Fleming and great-grandaughter,

Survivors include her husband, Franklin Weatherley, of the home in Meeker; sons

until 6 p.m. today. The wake will be 7 p.m. today at St. Michael's Catholic
Church in Meeker. Mass will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's with the Rev.
Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow Mass at New Hope
Cemetery in Meeker. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers
Funeral Service in Meeker.
A.V. Money
A.V. Money was born Feb. 2, 1917, in Verden, Okla., to Jasper J.
and Lavena (Pediford) Money and went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on
Sunday, July 31, in Shawnee at the age of 88. He was joined again with his
beloved wife of 65 years, Ealeta, who passed away May 1, 2002.
A.V. retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1972. During World War II, he served
as a Staff Sergeant with the Air Transport Command in the Middle East and North
Africa.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Ealeta; sisters, Faye
Samuels and Vena Mae Ward; and brothers, Chester and Homer Money.
A.V. was a true warrior for the Lord. He told everyone about his Savior. He was
a wonderful Christian daddy, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy. He and Ealeta
were members of the First Southern Baptist Church in Del City.
A.V. will be greatly missed by his family, daughter, Melba Jean and her husband,
Merle Shaw; grandson, Gregory Shaw; and granddaughters, Lisa and her husband,
Don Essary, and Sherri and her husband, Joe Bowers; and great grandchildren,
Emily and Andrew Essary.
Visitation will be at Gaskell-Owen Funeral Chapel, 119 N. Union Ave, Shawnee
(405) 275-0371.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Burial will
be at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Margie Susann Dutton
Tribbey resident Margie Susann Dutton, 98, died Saturday, July
30, at a local hospital.
She was born Feb. 10, 1907, in Warren County, Tenn., to John Bess and Virginia
(Hill) Bess.
She attended school in St. Mary's, Tenn., and lived west of Tribbey most her
life.
She was married Aug. 10, 1926, in Pottawatomie County to Ira Dutton. He preceded
her in death.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, one son, one daughter, three
brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include five daughters, Loretta Tiffin of Norman, Shirley Weaver of
Oklahoma City, Ellen Bonnell of Santa Cruz, Calif., June Tate of Wanette and Sue
Reynolds of Tribbey; two sons, Ira Dutton of Las Vegas, Nev., and Earnest Dutton
of Coalgate; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 10
great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Buster Bess of Tecumseh, and a
number of nieces and nephews.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Service with Jim Weaver
officiating assisted by Doyle Tiffin. Burial will follow at Council Creek
Cemetery west of Tribbey under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Joseph Edward Cox
Oklahoma City resident Joseph Edward Cox, 41, died Saturday,
July 30, in Oklahoma City.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Paden Cemetery with the Rev.
Paul Heard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers
Funeral Service of Prague.
William Leo Cundiff
Tulsa resident William Leo Cundiff, 87, died Friday, July 29, in
Tulsa.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at the Davenport cemetery with the Rev.
Mike Mitchell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks
Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
Memorials may be made to the Rogers County Historical Society or the Astronomy
Club of Tulsa.
Cecil Dale Decker
Midwest City resident Cecil Dale Decker, 86, died Monday, Aug.
1, in Shawnee.
He was born June 14, 1919, in Sparks to Charley and Bonnie Decker. He is the
former owner of Cecil Decker Ford of Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorettia Decker and sister Iola Gatlin.
Survivors include his sister, Dorena Swearengin; brothers, Charles W. and Melvin
W. Decker; sisters-in-law, Wilma Ferguson and Ethelyne Wilbanks.
The family will receive friends at Candlewood Chapel, 315 S. Sooner Rd., from 6
p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery under the
direction of Ford Funeral Service.

Pauline Yarbrough Wapskineh
Shawnee resident Pauline Wapskineh, 77, passed away Monday,
August 1, in Oklahoma City Hospital.
She was born February 26, 1928, in Wewoka to Thomas Yarbrough and Susie (Buck)
Yarbrough.
Pauline graduated from Haskell High School and retired as a CMA for Sunset
Nursing Home in Shawnee. She was a member of the First Indian Baptist Church in
Shawnee. Her greatest love was her Lord Jesus Christ. She spent hours in Bible
study and prayer. She loved her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Andrew Wapskineh Jr. and
Terry Lee Wapskineh; granddaughter, Ronda Ellis; brothers, John, Paul, Frank,
and James Yarbrough and Jerry Frank; sister, Marie Powell.
Survivors included daughters, Laquetta Ellis and Glenda Wapskineh both of
Shawnee; sons, Tom Wapskineh, Kenny Wapskineh and Ronny Wapskineh all of
Shawnee; sisters, Gertrude Bagley, Cora Jean Zahn; 19 Grandchildren; 25
Great-Grandchildren and a number of dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
The wake service was 7 P.M. Tuesday August 2, at First Indian Baptist Church,
Minnesota and Darrow Street, Shawnee, with the Rev. Rendon Falls officiating.
Lunch will be served at noon today with the funeral service following at 2 P.M.
at First Indian Baptist Church ,Shawnee with the Rev. Gary Hawkins and assisted
by Rev. Rendon Falls. Burial to follow at Buck Family Cemetery, North of Wewoka.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Essie Laura "Jerry" Lakin
Shawnee resident Essie Laura "Jerry" Lakin, 86, died Sunday,
July 31, at a local hospital.
She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Webb, Miss., to Thomas William New Sr., and Mary
Jane "Molly" (Downs) New.
She attended Shawnee High School and worked as a secretary for the Pottawatomie
County Commissioners until retiring in 1982. Prior to that she worked in the
cafeteria at Horace Mann Elementary for ten years.
She was married to Thomas Henry Lakin for 30 years before his death.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the First Church of God of Shawnee. She was a
very loving and lovable person and a marvelous example of a dedicated Christian
life. She was a wonderful mother and was always there to lend a helping hand to
those in need.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Don Lakin of Livingston, Texas, and Tommie Lee
Lakin of Shawnee; one daughter, Jerry Ann Knox of Shawnee; five grandchildren,
Gary Don Lakin, Monica Marie Lakin, Alisa Renee Butler, Lynn Knox and Barbara
Garner; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill New of Fayetteville, Ark.,
and Charlie New of Stafford, Kan., and one sister, Louella Wilson of Conroe,
Texas.
Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Tom
Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the
direction of Walker Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
LaDawna Pennock
Stroud resident LaDawna Pennock, 37, departed this life on
Saturday, July 30, north of Stroud.
She was born July 17, 1968, in Cushing to Joe Bailey and Karen (Ellis) Miles.
She grew up in Cushing.
She was married May 20, 1994, in Oklahoma City to Richard Pennock.
LaDawna received her GED in 1984 and was pursuing her RN degree. She was a LPN
and worked for the Sac and Fox Blackhawk Clinic in Stroud for two years. She was
a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and the First Indian Baptist Church in
Cushing. She was baptized in Shawnee. She enjoyed spending time with her family;
attending her children's sports and watching her daughter at cheerleading.
LaDawna was their #1 cheerleader. She also enjoyed being with her parents,
cooking and making everyone laugh. She was very fun to be around.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandfather, Ed Franklin.
Survivors include her husband, Richard of the home; sons, Leo Martinez, and
Shane and Casey Pennock, all of the home; daughters, Nikki and Jenny Pennock of
the home; brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Sharon Tiger of Pawnee; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Carlos Zuniga of Cushing, Staci Juneau of
Cushing and Traci and Justin Moran of Cushing; parents, Royce and Karen Juneau
of Cushing; grandmother, Lorena Franklin of Cushing; aunts, Carol Littlehead and
husband, Cecil, of Shawnee, Sharon Franklin of Cushing and Marilyn Thurman of
Shawnee; uncles, Marvin Thurman and George Thurman, both of Shawnee; many
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wake service was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the First Indian
Baptist Church with Duane Pratt presiding.
Service will be 10 a.m. today at the First Indian Baptist Church, 1200 E. Walnut
in Cushing. Burial will follow at the Wakolee cemetery in Shawnee under the
direction of Palmer and Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.
Eula Mae Perry
Lifelong Prague resident Eula Mae Perry, 74, departed this life on Tuesday, Aug.
2, in Prague.
She was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Paden to Walter and Maudie Mae (Raney) McGowen.
She was married March 11, 1948, to John Francis Carter. He preceded her in death
on Dec. 19, 1974. She later married Bert Matthew Perry. He also preceded her in
death on July 8, 1995.
She was a member of the Prague Freewill Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by one brother.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John Francis and Pam Carter of
Madill, George Carter of Prague and the Rev. Berton and Sue Perry of Okemah;
brothers, Harold McGowen of Milton-Freewater, Ore., and Ronald McGowen of
Wister; sisters, Irene Harker of Walla Walla, Wash., and Lucille Hendley of
Enfield Center, N.H.; six grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funereal Chapel in Prague with
the Rev. Randall Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery
under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Kenneth V. Gatlin
Meeker resident Kenneth V. Gatlin, 84, passed away Monday, Aug.
1, at his home.
He was born March 8, 1921, in Depew to James and Lavonna Gatlin.
He graduated from Sparks schools.
He was married Dec. 27, 1939, in Chandler to Opal Lane.
He retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of the Assembly of God
Church in Meeker and a member of the Meeker Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, James and Wayne Gatlin, both of Meeker; a daughter,
Dorma Tison of Shawnee; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Mary Louise Schoneke of Livermore, Calif., and Helen Parrett of Albany,
Ore..
A Masonic service will be led by the Meeker Masonic Lodge. Service will be 2
p.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Meeker with Pastor Charles Pearcy
officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of
Walker Funeral Service.

Jack L. Beene
Macomb resident Jack L. Beene, 59, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, in
Oklahoma City.
He was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Shawnee to Jonas and Ruby (Roberts) Beene.
Jack was married June 21, 1969 in Globe, Ariz., to Linda Iverson. Following
their marriage, they lived in Arizona. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1972. They
lived in Macomb for nearly 30 years after living in Shawnee for a short time.
He was a correctional officer for Lexington Correctional Facility. He also
worked as a farmer and rancher raising cattle. He was a member of Tribbey
Baptist Church. Grandkids were the focal point of his life. He enjoyed
basketball and followed current events. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work,
mechanic work and carpentry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gene Ayers and Junior
Beene and three sisters, Wanda Bankston, Helen Ware and Peggy Beene.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Beene, of the home; son and daughter-in-law,
Leonard L. and Kira Beene of Tecumseh, daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline
"Sissy" and Lenny Geist of Owasso, five brothers, Jim Beene of Norman, Jerry
Beene of Shawnee, Joe Beene of Macomb, Robert Beene of Ft. Worth, Texas, and
Riley Beene of Wewoka; one sister, Nancy Bivens of Shawnee; four grandchildren,
Billy Beene, Heather Beene, Brandt and Solei Geist; many family and friends.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Pastor Leonard
Pirtle officiating. Burial will be at Tribbey Cemetery under the direction of
Cooper Funeral Home.
The casket will remain open until service time and will remain closed.
Wendel David LaViness
Shawnee resident Wendell David LaViness, 78, died Tuesday, Aug.
2, at Unity Health Center.
He was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Wildhorse, Okla., to Donivan F. and Elsie Pearl (Hiland)
LaViness.
Wendel was married Nov. 6, 1952, in Sherman, Texas, to Edna Mae Setzer .
He worked as a Quality Control Supervisor at Tinker Air Force Base. He had
served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Central Church of Christ. He enjoyed
fishing, camping and sports.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother, one sister and
one son-in-law.
Survivors include one daughter, Yuavonda Sperry of Shawnee; one son, Darren
LaViness and wife, Rachel, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Michelle and Donavan
LaViness; great-grandchild, Jacquilynn LaViness; one sister, Debbie Morgan of
Shawnee; one brother, Donnie LaViness of Shawnee.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with Dwyane Dennis
officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction
of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Former Chandler resident Winston Wilson, 90, died Thursday, Aug.
4, in Tulsa.

Susan Jane (Calvert) Bacon
Maud and Shawnee area resident Susan Jane "Sue" (Calvert) Bacon,
55, died Friday, Aug. 5, at Midwest City Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 19, 1949, in Oklahoma City to Thomas V. "Tom" and Pauline
Calvert. She moved from the Choctaw and Newalla area in 1990 to the Shawnee and
Maud area.
She retired in 1998 from Gonzales Engineering where she was an engineer. She was
member of the First Baptist Church in Maud where she was an active member
serving God.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one son, Brian Bacon, a Marine stationed in Jacksonville,
N.C.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and Wes Hand of Seminole and Brandi
Cox of Tecumseh; one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Kathy Calvert of Maud;
six grandchildren, Destiny, Jeremiah and Jaci Hand of Seminole and Kylee, Kelsey
and Conner Cox of Tecumseh.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Maud with the Rev.
Carl Whitfield and Rev. Jim Kirkendall officiating. Burial will be at Cummings
Cemetery in Maud. Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud is in charge of
arrangements.
Lettie Lavada Fowler
Shawnee resident Lettie Lavada Fowler, 87, died Friday, Aug. 5,
in Shawnee.
She was born in Hazeldell and attended Hazeldell and Dale schools. She lived and
worked in the Shawnee area most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings.
Survivors include three sons, Ed and his wife, Edith Scheidt, of Lincoln, Ark.;
Melvin Scheidt of Shawnee and Floyd Scheidt of Shawnee; a daughter, Kathy
Rodrigeuz of Shawnee; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Little Cemetery near Seminole.
Gaskill Funeral Chapel is directing arrangements.

Former Stratford resident Keith Wade Winn, 48, died Friday, Aug.
5, at his Oklahoma City home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ at Highway 19 West,
Lindsay. Burial will be at Purdy Cemetery.

Margaret Louise Kimbrough
Shawnee resident Margaret Louise "Micky" Kimbrough, 90, died Saturday, Aug. 6,
at home.

James Edward Smith
Shawnee resident James Edward "Ed" Smith, 76, died Thursday,
Aug. 4, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Macomb to Hartsel Vernon Smith and Beulah Mae
Hogan. He spent most of his life in Shawnee, and was a 1947 Shawnee High School
graduate.
He was sergeant in the U.S. Army and, at one time, had been active in the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Marie Yates on Dec. 15, 1962, in Ada. He was employed by Southwestern
Bell Telephone Company for 39 years before his retirement. He enjoyed his lawn
work and his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Smith of the home; one daughter, Cynthia and
her husband, Clayton Lauth, New Brenen, Ohio; two brothers, Hartsel Smith and
Donald Ray and his wife, Sharon Smith, Shawnee; four sisters, Betty Duvall of
Midwest City, Colleen Harrison of Seminole, Dorothy Mathews of Shawnee and
Sharon McDonald of Oklahoma City; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Register of Chino
Valley, Ariz.; Joyce Cattrell of Rising Star, Texas, and numerous nieces and
nephews.

She graduated from Shawnee High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sam Arnold and two
sisters, Josephine Still and Marie Schmidlkofer.
Survivors include one son, Joe Jackson Payne of Grand Junction, Colo.; two
sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Don Medley of Shawnee and Dorothy and
Leo Knox of Midwest City; several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Sam

Cecelia Martha Duggan
Cecelia Martha Duggan was born on Aug. 10, 1908, in Harrah and departed this
life on Sunday, Aug. 7, in Prague, at the age of 96.
Cecelia, the daughter of Andrew Frank and Mary Anna (Jorski) Nowakowski, was a
resident of Prague. She married David L. Duggan on Nov. 25, 1937, in Seminole.
They made their home in Shawnee until 1966 when they moved to Prague. She was a
homemaker and a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David, on July 18, 2002; her parents;
four brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and Carole Duggan of
Shawnee; daughter, Regina C. Duggan of Prague; brother and sister-in-law, Leo
and Minnie Nowakowski of Harrah; sister, Emily Dunaway of Shawnee; three
grandchildren, Don and Angela Duggan of Owasso, Dean and Angie Duggan of Prague,
and Chris and Angela Duggan of Shawnee; and seven great-grandchildren.

Leslie Rayford Glazier
Shawnee resident Leslie Rayford Glazier, 75, died Monday, Aug. 8, at a local
hospital.
He was born March 25, 1930, in Baum, Okla., to William and Mildred Glazier.
Leslie was orphaned at 12 years of age.
In 1948 he married JoAnn Inman. He traveled throughout the United States
building dams as a cableway operator during the 1950's. He later setted in the
San Francisco Bay area where he became an ironworker until he fell from a
building in 1973 ending his career. He went on to become a successful contractor
at Glazier Iron Works, Inc. with his son, Harold, throughout the 1980's. After
retiring Leslie became a successful investor. He will be missed by his loved
ones.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Glazier, of Shawnee; son, Harold Glazier of
Fremont, Calif.; daughter, Kathryn Glazier of Shawnee; two grandsons, Craig and
Thomas Glazier of Fremont; two granddaughters, Deana Glazier of Fremont and
Leslie Holt of Shawnee; one great-grandson, Harrison Glazier and one
great-granddaughter, Madeline Glazier, both of Fremont.

Maud resident Hazel M. Arnold Hale, 90, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at
her home.
She was born June 26, 1915, in Dustin to Grady Lee and Ethel Virgie (Clymer)
Arnold.
She was married Feb. 4, 1933, in Maud to Clayton Hale. He preceded her in death
on Oct. 12, 2002.
Hazel was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Maud.
She taught Sunday school for many years and was the church secretary for 45
years. She also was an inspector for the election board for many years.
She also was preceded in death by two sets of twins, Donald Ray and Ima Mae Hale
and Dennis and Fern Janet Hale Blain; three brothers, Emit Arnold, Lee "Hank"
Arnold and Raymond "Cotton" Arnold.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Beth Hale of Woodside,

Nicoma Park resident Oma Ray Self, 97, died Tuesday, Aug. 9.
She was born Aug. 5, 1908, in Reck, Okla., to Walter M. and Lucy Ann (Dowdy)
Hallum.
Over the years she was a resident of Oklahoma City, Norman, Nicoma Park and
Midwest City.
She was married July 29, 1929, to Roy C. Self. He preceded her in death on March
16, 1993, after 63 years of marriage.
She worked for Continental Bakery in Oklahoma City, was a homemaker, member of
Nicoma Park First Baptist Church and the Choctaw Senior Citizen's Center.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Loyd Hallum; one sister, Elsie
Kovelda and a great-grandson, Jonathan Falk.
Survivors include five daughters, two sons and their spouses, Betty and Floyd
Deaton of Del City, Ann and Walter Deaton of Shawnee, Rosa and Howard Falk of

Paden resident Jack O'Neal Clonts, 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Prague.
He was born May 27, 1929, in Paris, Texas, to Fletcher and Martha Evelyn O'Neal.
He and his twin brother, Jess, were adopted by Clark and Bessie (Collins) Clonts
on May 9, 1931. They were raised in the Paden area.
Jack married Ramona Harjo in Okfuskee County.
He worked at Tinker Air Force Base and in the manufacturing industry. He was a
member of the Midway Church of Christ in Paden. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Jess, and son, Ronald
Clonts.

Orland B. (O.B.) Cannon
Former Shawnee resident Orland B. (O.B.) Cannon, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, at
Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
O.B. was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Ratliff, Ark. to Ollie and Elsie Hendrix
Cannon. He grew up in McAlester where he received his education. Upon graduation
from high school, he attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton.
On April 1, 1939, he married Georgia Story in Harlingen, Texas. The marriage
lasted 66 years.
O.B. served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Tripoli.
After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Shawnee where they owned and
operated Cannon's Children Shop for 19 years, retiring in 1979.
O.B. was a 53 year member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, in Shawnee.
In July 2003 they moved to Tulsa to be near family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Elsie Cannon; three brothers,
Curtis , Charles and Verla Cannon; two sisters, Ruby Bennett and Ezma Schoemann.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Cannon of Tulsa; sister, Tillie Schneider of
Tulsa; sister-in-law, Lorena Derryberery of Ada; and numerous nieces and nephew.

LeRoy DeWitt
Tecumseh resident LeRoy DeWitt, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 11, in
Shawnee.
He was born June 23, 1922, in Noble to Charley I. and Grace (Riordan) DeWitt.
Born and raised in Noble, he had lived in St. Louis, Mo., Detroit, Mich., and
Forsythe, Mo. before returning to Oklahoma City in 1992. He had lived in
Tecumseh since 2003.
He served in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II. In May 1998 he
married Bernice Farr.
He worked as a welder, mechanic and auto body repairman for many years before
entering construction and working as a heavy equipment operator until his
retirement in 1972.
He was a member of the D.A.V. and VFW Post 9265.
LeRoy enjoyed working on lawn mowers and dancing.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie DeWitt and Lee Roy DeWitt; one
grandson and numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice DeWitt of the home; son and daughter-in-law,
Roy Lee and Suk Cha DeWitt of Marietta, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Marlene
and Casey McBroom of Cedar Hill, Mo.; step-daughter, Rhonda Mitchell of Ardmore;
sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Larry Robertson of Purcell; former

Floyd Goodnight, 73, Tecumseh, died Friday, Aug. 12, in
Tecumseh.
He was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Chandler to George and Myrtle (Fowler) Goodnight.
He was raised in Sparks. He lived there until 1978 when he moved to Tecumseh.
He attended school and graduated from Sparks.
On Oct. 24, 1978, he married Geri Barnes in Gainesville, Texas. He worked at
Tinker Air Force Base for more than 30 years before retiring in 1987. He enjoyed
farming and ranching in his spare time.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Bill Goodnight.
Surviving are his wife, Geri Goodnight, of the home; daughter and son-in-law,
Mary and Phil Estes of Pewaukee, Wis.; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and
Suzanna Goodnight of Chandler, Carl and Becky Goodnight of Chandler and Kenny

David Ray Willis
David Ray Willis, 36, of Shawnee went to be with his Lord Thursday, Aug. 11.
He was born Nov. 5, 1968, in Oklahoma City to Ronald Willis and Beverly Masquat.
He graduated from Moore High School in 1987, where he was a star athlete. David
was a truck driver for Gilbert and Sons Trucking.
He and Nikki R. Lockas were married Feb. 23, 1996.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Desert Shield/Storm and in the U.S.
Army National Guard. David was a Sunday school teacher and in the men's
ministries at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was also an avid NASCAR
fan.
The casket will remain open until service time and not opened after.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Willis, and stepmother, Sandra
Willis.
He is survived by his wife, Nikki Willis; three sons, Joshua Willis, T.J.
Ferguson and Landry Willis; father, Ronald Willis; mother, Beverly Masquat;
mother-in-law, Linda Ferguson-Treat; grandmothers, Wanda Patton and Wilma
Ferguson; four sisters Susan Donnelly, Brittney Mirles, Mikki Ciner and Samantha

Former Shawnee resident Glyn Eugene Shelton, 79, of Boise,
Idaho, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Boise, Idaho.
He was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Shawnee to John Logan and Blanche Day-Shelton.
He was a graduate of Shawnee schools. Glyn was married to Haywoodean Vick in
Shawnee on April 21, 1947.
Glyn had been living in Boise, Idaho, since April 1, 1983, and had also lived in
Midwest City and Shawnee. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in
Boise, Idaho, and always enjoyed singing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and other siblings.
Surviving are his wife, H. Vicki Shelton, of the home; son, Dennis E. and wife
Patricia Shelton of Boise, Idaho; and grandson, Jefferson M. Shelton of Miami,
Fla.; brother, John Logan Shelton of Shawnee and Harvey D. Shelton of Midwest
City.

Edmund A. Grywalski
Edmund A. Grywalski, 85, Shawnee, died Thursday, Aug. 11, in Norman.
He was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Edwardsville, Pa., the son of Joseph and Mary (Reykowski)
Grywalski. He was reared in Edwardsville and was a graduate of Edwardsville High
School.
He attended Central State University, where he earned his bachelor9s degree. He
earned his master9s degree and doctorate from Oklahoma State University.
On Nov. 4, 1942, he married Thelma Watts in Kentucky.
He taught at Ardmore Business College, Meeker and Arcadia, where he served as
principal until retiring in 1964.
A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he had served as post commander for
VFW Post 4938 in Edmond. He also was a life member of Disabled American
Veterans, and the Shawnee American Legion Post No. 16.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Sandra Grywalski; sisters,
Frances Moyers and Elenor Grywalski; and brother, Joseph Grywalski.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma B. Grywalski, of the home; sister, Irene
Grywalski of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Sonja and Jeff Cupps of Bethel and
Sean and Cathy Grywalski of Florida; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Amanda
Bridges, Kristine and Raechell Messinger and Ashley Grywalski.

Jewell Fannie Whitson Ridenour
Jewell Fannie (Rosier) Whitson Ridenour, 98, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, in
Tecumseh.
She was born near Macomb in Brinton Township, Pottawatomie County, on Oct. 8,
1906, to Daniel Albert "Ab" and Ollie Belle (Creekmore) Rosier.
Jewell married Uriah G. Whitson in Hays, Kan., in 1938. He died in 1946. In
1947, she married Charles R. Ridenour in Reno Nev., and was again widowed in
1962.
After living in Sacramento, Calif., for many years, Jewell returned to Shawnee
in the late 1980s to help care for her ailing sister, Nell Barnwell. She became
active in the Senior Citizens Organization in Shawnee until the early 1990s.
In addition to her parents and sister, she was preceded in death by two
brothers, Angus L. "Al" Rosier and Marion Rosier; childhood friend and
sister-in-law, Clara G. Rosier; two nieces, Betty Jo Rosier Lyday and Patsy Ruth
Rosier Bennett; and a nephew.
She is survived by a great-niece and husband, Patsy and Albert Waller, three
great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery at
Trinity chapel, with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson
officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel.
Phosa A. Brown
Phosa A. Brown, 86, of Cushing died Thursday, Aug. 11, at a Cushing nursing
home.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in
Cushing with pastor Larry Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove
Cemetery in Seminole.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
