BARNES
Margie BARNES, 90-year-old lifteime Pawnee citizen, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 1998, and funeral services were held here Saturday.
Born August 25, 1907, in Pawnee to John BRIM and Melessa Ellen (QUINN) BRIM, she lived in Pawnee all of her life, except for a short time when she worked in Wichita, Kansas, during WWII.
She married Lee C. Barnes in 1968. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1982.
She worked in the Vance Belden Cafe in Pawnee for over 13 years and was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Pawnee.
Surviving is a nephew and his family, Also surviving is a great niece, a great nephew, and a close cousin, in Fresno, California, and a number of other relatives.
Besides her husband, Lee, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Vernie BELDEN and Vanita REDDICK, and a brother, Walter BRIM. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 1998, at Pawnee's First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James EUBANKS officiating. Interment followed in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery under directions of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

MOORE
Thomasine Elizabeth MOORE, 65, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 1998, at her home in Fairfax and final funeral services were held there Saturday. Born August 13, 1932 in Colorado City, Colorador to Thomas GREEN, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (OSAGE) GREEN, she graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas, and attended Bacone College in Muskogee. She was married to Ted MOORE, of Pawnee, divorcing some years later.
Thomasine had been an Indian Education Consultant and ANA Director of the Osage Federal Program. She moved back to Fairfax in 1974. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and honorary member of the Native American Church A-Wah-Hun-Da chapter. She was an Osage Tribal Director for the American Indian Exposition, enjoyed dancing and traveling and was well respected within the world and a proud, traditional person.
Thomasine is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters.
A Native American Prayer Service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, January 15, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rosary at the church on Friday at 7, followed by a Native American Prayer Service. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, January 17, 1998, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Ken LEWIS officiating. Interment was in the Grayhorse Cemetery undere direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

WARDEN
Arthur N. WARDEN, 81, passed away at his home in Stillwater on Tuesday, January 13, 1998, and funeral services were held in Stillwater, Friday.
Born at Terlton, Oklahoma on October 28, 1916 to Joseph Henry WARDEN and Effie (MORRELL) WARDEN, he married Elmira May BERG in Pawnee on September 30, 1939. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1996.
He was a dairy farmer/carpenter and was a member of the Diamond Valley Community Church and a former member of the Pawnee IOOF Lodge. He is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant son, Donald WARDEN, 2 brothers, John and Lawrence WARDEN, and a sister, Hazel ELWELL.
The Rev. Bob VAUGHT officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral service on Friday, January 16, at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Stillwater, followed by burial in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, near Stillwater, under direction of the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Stillwater.

NICCUM
Richard C. Niccum, 87, retired farmer and boilermaker, passed away at Stillwater on Wednesday, January 14, 1998, and funeral services were held at Yale, Thursday.
The son of the late Jessie Benjamin NICCUM and Sarah Florence (COBBLE) NICCUM, he was born on November 15, 1910 at Jennings, Oklahoma and was reared and educated in the Yale and Pawnee County area. He and Alice HARRIS were married on October 26, 1947 in Yale and the couple moved to southeast of Cushing in 1950 and continued to live there. He was a member of the Baptist Church, of a boilermakers union in Tulsa, and was a veteran of WWII, serving from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, 4 sons, a daughter, 2 brothers, a sister, 12 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers: Floyd, Kenneth, and Bill NICCUM.
Graveside services were held Thursday, January 15, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lawson Cemetery near Yale, Oklahoma under direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Cushing.

Leroy GRIESEL Honored on 94th Birthday
A houseful of family members gathered at the home of Leroy GRIESEL Saturday evening, January 17, to celebrate his 94th birthday with a party and covered dish meal. Eighteen family units totalling 57 were present for the joyous occasion.
Jim GOODRICH offered the prayer before the meal. Following the meal, much visiting was done. An enjoyable session of singing in harmony and humorous recitation were shared.
Those present were Effie and Jim MEDFORD, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Peggy and Jim GOODRICH of Enid; Wayne and Tesa CARMEN, Taylor and Emily of Camargo, Oklahoma; Bruce GRIESEL and Cody, Phillip and Kay GRIESEL, all of Arkansas City, Kansas; Leonard and Ruth GRIESEL, Ashley, Jacob, Josh and Zac of Ponca City; and Tim and Michelle DENNY and Rachelle of Cleveland.
From Pawnee were Lucile CAMPBELL, Mike and Tina GODBERSON and Gage, Marjorie and Buck BUCHANAN, Calvin and Banetha BUCHANAN, Emith Nathan, and Hannah; Marianne and Bill DENNY, Dianna and Dennis WALKER, Michael and Dena, Martin and Kathy GRIESEL, Shawna, Martin Jr. and Jennifer; Sam and Patty GRIESEL, Christopher, Quniton and Matthew; and the honoree.

Surprise Celebration Held for Alvin BERG's 85th Birthday
Alvin BERG celebrated his 85th birthday with family members at a surprise luncheon in his honor, Saturday, January 17, 1998.
Following the luncheon at Cowboys's Cafe, the group gathered at his home where he received many more cards and phone calls.
Attending were his wife, Sue; Leola SMITH, Elzie, Jr., Janice and Cory SMITH of Pawnee; Ernest and Lolita BERG of Bartlesville; and Jim BERG of Seattle, Washington. Also: Wayne and Thelma CINNAMON, Earl CINNAMON, Hunter, Oklahoma; Melissa FABIAN, Oklahoma City; John and Eloise BRADLEY, Shawnee; Winfield and Wilma BROWNING, Dean and Barbara BUSH, Caney, Kansas; Blackie and Nadine BELL, Bartlesville; and Paul and Vyrla CARR, Austin, Texas.

Maggie WORDEN participated in London's New Year's parade
Pawnee High School student, Magan WORDEN, recently returned from London, England, where she participated with 1400 other All Star cheerleaders in London's New Year's Day parade.
Magan left for London on December 26. In the parade she performed with a group of 64 cheerleaders. Each group peformed to a different Elvis Presley song. The crowd of over a million spectators was very receptive, cheering, screaming, and trying to shake hands with the girls, since they have nothing that compares with cheerleaders in England. The cheerleaders enjoyed performing for such a responsive crowd.
Throughout the week, buses took the cheerleaders on tours of the city. Magan was impressed with the fantastic architecture, the proud history, and the colorful lights. Included in the tours were the Tower Bridge, Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, Oxford University, Harrods, the original Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, a Broadway play about Buddy Holly, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Changing of the Guard.
Magan said, "The trip was incredible...the experience of a lifetime! I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the entire community of Pawnee for all your support for this wonderful opportunity."
Magan is the daughter of Dennis and Rozanne WORDEN, of rural Pawnee.

Malinda Dean (BRENSING) COLLINS, 89, passed away at her home in Pawnee on Thursday, January 29, 1998, and funeral services were held on Monday.
Born on November 15, 1908, in Skedee, Oklahoma to Henry BRENSING and Minnie (POOS) BRENSING, she was reared in the Skedee area, then earned both bachelor's and masters degrees in Home Economics from Oklahoma A&M (now OSU).
She worked for Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company for many years as their Home Economist, retiring in 1974.
She was married to Lt. Col. Willis W. COLLINS on August 14, 1936, in Stillwater, and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1995. She lived in Oklahoma City from 1939 until moving back to Pawnee in the Spring of 1996. She was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha of OSU and of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are 4 grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, a sister-in-law, plus a number of other relatives.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gene Leroy COLLINS and brothers, Arthur, Oliver and Nelson BRENSING and sister, Nora BRENSING HARSHBARGER.
The Rev. Dr. Clem DOZER, pastor, officiated at the 3 p.m. funeral service, Monday, February 2, 1998, at the Skedee United Methodist Church followed by burial in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Glenn E. LONG, 63, passed away at Midwest City, Oklahoma, on December 26, 1997, and funeral services were held there on December 29. Born in Maramec, Oklahoma on April 28, 1934, to James Glenn LONG and Freda LONG, he was reared in Pawnee and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1952.
He married Thelma MCLAUGHLIN on May 16, 1953 at Pawnee and they had lived in the Midwest City area for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Surviving is his wife, a son, a daughter, 4 grandchildren, his mother, Freda LONG, of Tulsa; and 2 brothers: Wayne LONG of Tulsa, and Alfred LONG of Bishop, Texas, and a number of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Jeffery LONG.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 1997, at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel at Midwest City, with the Revs. Harvey G. ALBRIGHT and Ray SWIFT officiating.
Interment followed at the Sunny Lane Cemetery under direction of the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home. (Note: The Pawnee Chief thanks anower Pawneean in Oklahoma City for advising us of Mr. Long's passing.)

Mattie Maer 2 years then coached in Pawnee from 1951 to 1958. He coached at Bixby in 1959, at Desert High School in Edwards Air Force Base, California 1960 - 1961; Romona High at Riverside, California, 1962-1963 and at Hominy in 1964-1965. His coaching record was 134 wins, 34 loses and 4 ties.
He gave up coaching when he accepted the position of Federal Program Director for the Osage Tribe, then was Director of the Tulsa Manpower Authority. As mayor of Hominy, he was instrumental in obtaining the current water d a good mother and grandmother.
Surviving is her husband, 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother and 6 sisters: Luther BOWEN of Buffalo, Oklahoma; Nettie STRAIN of Cushing; Alma HOUSTON of Enid, Oklahoma; Flora CLOUD of Hallett; Iola COOPER and Mary WEBSTER, both of Coffeyville, Kansas; plus Glendola GARNER of Pawnee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pawnee.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 1998 at graveside in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery with the Revs. Ray SMITH and Bob COPELAND officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Arnetta June NEWTON, 70, passed away in Tulsa on Thursday, January 28, 1998, and funeral services were held there Monday.
Born December 22, 1927 in Pawnee to Henry Clarence "Casey" STAFFORD and Clara (VARNER) STAFFORD, she was reared in Maramec and graduated from Maramec High School.
She married Millard Arthur "Art" Morris NEWTON on June 28, 1947, at Tulsa. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1994. A long-time resident of Tulsa, she custom-made draperies out of her home.
Mrs. NEWTON was a member of the Metro Faith Christian Church of Tulsa and of the Indian Nation Camping Club.
She is survived by 2 sons, 5 grandchildren 2 nieces, plus a number of other relatives.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ray STAFFORD.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 2, 1998, at the Metro Faith Christian Church in Tulsa with the Rev. Darrick HORNE officiating. Interment followed in the IOOF Cemetery near Maramec, under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Rites Monday For Grandmother of Bobby SIMMA
Graveside services were held Monday afternoon, February 2, at the New Zion Cemetery near Cushing for Sylvia Marie SIMMA, 86, who passed away in Stillwater on Friday, January 30, 1998.
She was the grandmother of Pawneean Bobby SIMMA, who is an admisitrator at the Woodland School in Fiarfax. For many years Mrs. SIMMA has made her home in Ripley, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by 2 sons, a daughter, a brother, 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and 11 great grandchildren.

In memory of Angie K. KENT, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister. She also left many friends and relatives in the Pawnee and Otoe tribes.
The responce from the Ponca City and Pawnee communities and surrounding tribes, communities, towns and states that came together to support our family at the passing of Angie, was overwhelming.
The KENT family is thanking everyone with deep appreciation for all that was done for us. At the time, it was very hard for our family to express our gratitude.
On Sunday, February 8, 1998, at 1:00 p.m., a dinner will be prepared in memory of Angie at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center, White Eagle, Oklahoma. Everyone is invited to share our food and memories. May God richly bless each of you for your kindness, love and generosity. (photo)

Wiley Darrell CUSTER, 70, Pawnee native, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Loveland, Colorado, and funeral services were held here Friday.
He was born on July 15, 1927, to Wiley CUSTER and Helen Leota (HAMILTON) Custer and lived in Pawnee most of his life until he moved to Loveland, Colo. where his sisters live, about 5 years ago. He worked for several upholstery companies, working on vehicles and furniture. He loved to read.
Darrell was never married and is survived by 2 sisters, 2 nieces and 3 nephews, and several other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at graveside at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee was in charge of arrangements.

LIEN
Terresa Bialkowski LIEN, 43, passed away at Yale on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, and memorial services were held there Tuesday.
She was born Feb. 3, 1955 in Pawnee to Steve and Earlene GRONENBURG and attended public schools in Pawnee at an early age. After her education, she lived in various cities throughout the United States, most recently in Tulsa, then in Yale, Oklahoma. She enjoyed sketching and writing poems.
Surviving are 2 sons and a daughter, plus 4 grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers and 3 sisters, and several other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998 at the Yale Baptist Church followed by burial in the Maramec Cemetery.

COLLINS
Glen G. COLLINS, 68, passed away at Pawnee on Friday, Feb 6, 1998, and funeral services were held here Monday.
Born in Pawnee on August 11, 1929, to C.F. "Shorty" COLLINS and Beatrice Junita (HALEY) COLLINS, he married Peggy June OLIVER in May of 1965 at Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death on May 14, 1992.
He is survived by 6 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also surviving are 2 brothers and a sister. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, his parents and a grandson, Joshua WHEELER.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at the Eshelman Memorial Chapel at Pawnee's Highland
Cemetery. Burial was at Highland Cemetery, all under the direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

HUGHES
Donald Eugene HUGHES, 59, passed away in Tulsa on Thursday,February 5, 1998. Funeral services were held in Tulsa followed by burial here.
Born in Pawnee on Feb 18, 1938, to Donald M. Hughes and Viola May (PLUMMER) HUGHES, he was reared in Pawnee.
He is survived by a number of relatives. His parents preceded him in death, Gene was never married.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at the Higher Dimensions Church at 9900 W. Memorial in Tulsa, followed by burial in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery, under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

BRIDWELL
Norman C. BRIDWELL, 79, Glencoe graduate and editor of several state newspapers including the Cleveland American, passed away at Lawton, Oklahoma on Tuesday, February 10, 1998.
Funeral services were held there Thursday.
Born in Cleveland, OK, to Mr. and Mrs. W.C. "Bill BRIDWELL, who operated the Cleveland Triangle at one time. At the age of 5 he moved with his family to Glencoe where he was schooled and graduated from High School in 1935. His father was publisher of the Glencoe Mirror and he assisted him as a youth and later became editor and co-publisher, operating it until 1941 when he entered Oklahoma A&M, majoring in Journalism. During WWWII he served in the Navy for 2 years and returned to Glencoe to teach and coach at the school there.
In 1947, he accepted the position as news editor of the Hominy News and later became co-publisher with Wayne JEFFRIES, later selling his interst to JEFFRIES. He moved to Cherokee in 1956 where he was news editor, then to Yukon, where he was also news editor. Four years later he moved to Antlers where he was editor until moving to Cleveland in 1969.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, plus 2 sons and a daughter, and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at graveside at Lawton's Highland Cemetery on Thursday, February 12, 1998.

DAVIS
Mildred Fern DAVIS, 92, passed away at Cushing, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, February 11, 1998, and funeral services were held here Friday.
Born May 14, 1905, in Pawnee, to Charley S. DAVIS and Elizabeth E. (APPLEBERRY) DAVIS, she moved to Cushing from Pawnee in the early 1970's.
Surviving is a nephew and 2 nieces and a number of other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Volita HILL, 2 brothers, Wilbur H. DAVIS and Earl DAVIS and 2 husbands. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 1998, at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery with Harvey DAVIS and Steve RYAN officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

REED
Loyd Garnett REED, 77, passed away at Perry on Tuesday, February 10, 1998, and funeral services were held here Friday morning.
Born in Pawnee on April 14, 1920 to Jacob REED and Clara (DELONG) Reed, he was one of 17 children born to his parents. He attended school in Pawnee and moved to the Green Valley Nursing Home, in Perry, in 1966 and continued to live there.
He is survived by a sister and 2 brothers, plus a number of nephews and nieces and other relatives. He was preceeded in death by his parents, 7 sisters and 6 brothers.
Graveside rites were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 1998, at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee was in charge of arrangements.

JOHNSON
Hazel Alice JOHNSON, 93, passed away at the Yale Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 1, 1998, and funeral services were held the following Saturday. She was born on May 7, 1904, to Mack HOSKINS and Anne (SIMMONS) Hoskins near Beaver County, Oklahoma, and came to the Yale, Oklahoma area as a child. She was reared and educated at Quay, Oklahoma.
She married John Alfred JOHNSON on September 14, 1921, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1992. She was a long-time member of the Yale Baptist Church and she spoke quite often of herself being baptized on April 13, 1919, in the McCroskey pond, along with 16 other persons.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by 2 sons and a daughter, a brother and 2 sisters, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 1998 in the First Baptist Church of Yale with the Rev. Mike Dershem officiating. Burial was in Yale's Lawson Cemetery under direction of the Davis Yale Chapel in Yale.

BROOKSHIRE
Opal Long BROOKSHIRE, 87, sister of Pawneean Gladys CALDWELL, passed away at Oklahoma City on Sunday, April 12, 1998, and funeral services were held here this morning.
Born August 6, 1910 to William Tyler MOORE and Flora Ann (HARP) Moore, at Glencoe, Oklahoma, she was raised in that area. She married Cecil BROOKSHIRE at Denton, Texas on December 29, 1983 and they moved to Oklahoma City in March of 1994. Mrs. Brookshire worked in department stores in ladies wear sales. She was an avid dollmaker and loved crafts in general. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving is her husband, 1 son, 1 daughter, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Dorthiea Klingman of Wichita, Kansas; Onieta Whitlock of Altus, Oklahoma; and Gladys Caldwell of Pawnee.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 15, 1998 at the Poteet Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Louis Bennett of Oklahoma City officiating. Interment followed at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee was in charge of arrangements.

CHAPMAN
Thomas "Tommy" CHAPMAN, Jr., 73, long-time Pawnee tribal leader, passed away in Pawnee on Sunday, April 12, 1998, and funeral services were held here Tuesday. Born in Pawnee on November 21, 1924 to Henry Chapman and Marie (TATUM) Chapman, he was a lifelong resident of Pawnee.
When WWII started in 1941, he (age 17) joined the U.S. Marine Corps and volunteered for the newly-formed Elite Paratroopers. He went into combat against the Japanese on November 12, 1942, with the First Marine Parachute BN on Guadalcanal. The first "Paramarines" saw action on the "canal", Peleliu, Cape Gloucester, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was wounded in action when the Paramarines jumped in Bougainville. He had the distinction of being the only tribal member to be a U.S. Marine Corps combat-wounded veteran paratrooper. He represented his county, family and tribe honorably.
He married Bernice KAULEY on August 13, 1947 in Perry and they continued to live in Pawnee where he was active in tribal affairs for many years, serving as president of the Pawnee Indian Tribal Business Council in the 1970's and later. He had been in ill health in recent years.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter, 2 sons, 9 grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters. The Rev. Warren Pratt, Jr., officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at the Pawnee Indian Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial followed in the Pawnee Tribal South Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

DICKERSON
Marie Florence DICKERSON, 80, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away there on Wednesday, April 8, 1998 and funeral services were held there, with burial here Saturday. She was born in McLoud, Oklahoma to George and Mollie LEISTER and was married to Woodrow "Woody" Dickerson. They lived in Pawnee for several years and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Nora CRARY of California and a brother, Herman LEISTER of Lawton, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held at Midwest City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 1998 followed by burial at 2 p.m. in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home of Midwest City.

Jennifer BROWN - Rosen RENNIE Married in Las Vegas Ceremony
In a double-ring ceremony performed in the Wedding Chapel of Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jennifer Janette Brown became the bride of Rosen Dee Rennie on Tuesday, March 17, 1998. The Rev. Jack T. Moore, Methodist minister, officiated at the 5:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ron and the late Janette Brown, Pawnee. Parents of the bridegroom are Larry and Nancy Rennie of Ponca City.
Ronda Brown-Mefford, sister of the bride, and Nancy Rennie, mother of the groom, performed the lighting of the Unity Candle. Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory satin Mori Lee gown,. The sleeveless bodice featured a scooped neckline fashioned of re-embrodered lace and satin, heavily embellished with pearls and iridescence. The deep squared back of the bodice featured a small satin bow attaching the chapel-length, French satin train whih fell softly around the long sheath skirt of the gown. Her pouf veil was attached to a fully beaded crown headpiece. The bridal ensemble was completed by a strand of pearls belonging to her late mother. The bridal bouquet was fashioned of long-stemmed lilies and yellow roses.
Maid of honor was Randi Collins-Estes, friend of the bride, formerly of Pawnee, now residing in Baumholder, Germany. Mendy Hayes, Oklahoma City, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. They wore full-length gowns of black satin featuring sleeveless bodices and semi-sheath skirts. They seach carried a single long-stemmed lilyu.
Travis Mullin, friend of the groom, Ponca City, served as best man. D.J. Mefford, brother-in-law of the bride, was groomsman. The groom, bride's father, best man and groomsman were attired in black tuxedo jackets, vest and pants with white tuxedo shirts. They wore yellow rose boutonieres.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Bridal Suite of the hotel. The two-tiered white wedding cake featured ivory icing with black and ivory lace piping accents. A Mickey and Minney Mouse bridal couple topper completed the cake. Fruit punch, nuts and mints were also served. Reception attendants were Georganna Childress, Edmond, and Pinky Miles, Cushing, both aunts of the bride, and Deana Shields, Edmond, friend of the bride.
Following their trip to Las Vegas, the couple will reside in Coolidge, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. D.E. BUCHANAN Will Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. D.E. (Buck) Buchanan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, April 26, 1998, at a reception in their honor. The event will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Pawnee First Baptist Church. Special guests from 2-2:30 will be Mrs. Buchanan's father, Leroy Griesel, and Mr. Buchanan's mother, Mother Buchanan.
Donald E. Buchanan and Marjorie Griesel were united in marriage April 25, 1948, at the First Christian Church in Pawnee. The Rev. A.J. Bradshaw officiated. The Buchanans have lived in the Pawnee rural area their entire married life.
Mr. Buchanan was employed as a sheriffs deputy, police dispatcher, and rancher/farmer. He is a member of the Pawnee First Christian Church, where he is an Elder, and past member of the Pawnee Rotary Club.
Mrs. Buchanan was employed as a school teacher, and retired in 1995 from her secretarial position with United CAP Head Start. She is a member of the Pawnee First Christian Church, where she is an Elder, and church organist. She is also active in CWF.
The couple's children are Calvin Buchananan and wife Banetha, Kenneth Buchanan (deceased) and wife Jo Beth (now Mrs. Bruce Spears), Butch (deceased, and Bob Buchanan and wife, Bonnie. They have 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Another great grandchild is expected this month.

Mrs. C.E. TROUSDALE Hosted P.E.O.s on April 10
Members of Chapter H., P.E.O. met in the Keystone lakeside home of Mrs. C.E. Trousdale on Friday, April 10. Mrs. Sam Soutter was co-hostess. The home was decorated in the Easter theme and an Easter egg tree was the diing table centerpiece.
Mrs. Gene LeMonnier presided over the regular order of business. Mrs. Soutter gave a demonstration on creating Faux Sugar Eggs.

MCKENZIE
Max Leroy MCKENZIE, 73, passed away at Hominy, Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 28, 1998 and funeral services were held there, Friday. He was born on March 3, 1925, in Pawnee to P.K. and Mary Irene (GAMBIL) McKenzie. He attended and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1943 and from East Central State University in 1949. He married Ella Lu BYWATER at El Reno, Oklahoma on December 22, 1947 and they observed their 50th wedding anniversary last year.
He coached at Tishomingo, Oklahoma for 2 years then coached in Pawnee from 1951 to 1958. He coached at Bixby in 1959, at Desert High School in Edwards Air Force Base, California 1960 - 1961; Romona High at Riverside, California, 1962-1963 and at Hominy in 1964-1965. His coaching record was 134 wins, 34 loses and 4 ties.
He gave up coaching when he accepted the position of Federal Program Director for the Osage Tribe, then was Director of the Tulsa Manpower Authority. As mayor of Hominy, he was instrumental in obtaining the current water plant and the Dick Connor Correctional Center. He was business manager at the Connors Center for 12 years.
Coach McKenzie was an avid hunter and fisherman and touched the lives of countless young people as a coach, director of youth programs and friends.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons and a daughter, 5 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. Also surviving are 2 sisters and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Wayne and Glenn McKenzie and 2 sisters: Clara and Marie.
The Rev. David Porter officiated at the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday, October 2, 1998 at the First United Methodist Church of Hominy followed by burial in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

BEARD
Mabel Louise BEARD, 68, passed away at Stillwater on Monday, October 5, 1998 and funeral services will be held here on Friday. Born in Pawnee on Marchf 26, 1930 to Albin LEADING FOX, Sr. and Miriam (PRATT) Leading Fox, she was a lifetime resident of Pawnee and a member of the Pawnee Tribe. She married Gilbert BEARD, Sr., on December 27, 1950, at Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1967.
She is survived by a companion, 4 sons and 6 daughters, 26 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, plus 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 daughters, Kit and Kip Beard, and son, Jimmy Dale Beard.
The Rev. Warren Pratt, Jr. will officiate at the 2 p.m. funeral service at the Pawnee Indian Baptist Church, where she was a member, on Friday, October 9, 1998. Burial will follow at the North Indian Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee is in charge of arrangements.

SHELL
Martha Blance (FOCHT) SHELL, life-long Glencoe resident, passed away at her home there on Monday, October 5, 1998, one day short of her 82nd birthday. Funeral services will be held here on Thursday.
She was born on October 6, 1916 in Glencoe to James William Focht and Minnie (WITHERS) Focht. She attended school there and married Frank Shell in Payne County in 1935. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1983. She helped her husband operate the Shell Cafe in Glencoe for several years and enjoyed being a grandmother and keeping her grandchildren.
She is survived by 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Also surviving are 2 sisters: Pearl Creager, Glencoe and Viola Langley, Stillwater. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, 2 great granddaughters, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Ken Mantle of the Assembly of God Church will officiate at the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, October 8, 1998 at the Poteet Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Glencoe Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

GOODEAGLE
Opal GOODEAGLE, 79, passed away at Pawnee on Monday, October 5, 1998, and funeral services will be held here Thursday. She was born on October 17, 1918 at the Pawnee Indian Hospital in Pawnee to Jesse R. PETERS and Nellie (PRATT) Peters and had lived in the Pawnee community all of her life.
Opal was a member of the Pawnee tribe, a Gold Star Mother, member of the Pawnee War Mothers Society, the Kiowa Apache Blackfeet Society and the Native American Church.
Surviving is her husband, Merton Kenneth Goodeagle, 2 daughters and 5 sons, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ivy Pratt of Pawnee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 sons: Franklin Moore, Gerald Moore, Truman Lorentz, Jr., Albert Lorentz, Robert Lorentz, Theodore Lorentz and Kevin Lorentz.
The Revs. Bill Littlesun and Tom Roughface will officiate at the 2 p.m. funeral service at the Tribal Roundhouse in Pawnee on Thursday, October 8, 1998. Burial will follow in the South Indian Cemetery. Arrangements will be handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Velma LASATER, 80, Colleen LASATER, 70, Celebrated Birthdays
Velma LASATER celebrated her 80th birthday and Colleen LASATER her 70th, Sunday, September 20, with a dinner in their honor, hosted by Gloria Dayton, Alma Hayes and Mary Lasater. Fifty-two gathered at the home of Lynn and Colleen Lasater in Jennings for the dinner. Homemade ice cream and birthday cake, made by Patty Lasater, was served in the afternoon.

Art and Velma were married in Pawnee by the late Judge Palmer and were attended by Billie Bowen and the late Ralph Goin. They have remained in Pawnee throughout their marriage, where they have made many friends.

Alta MOON's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. William Schwind, Burlington, Iowa, arrived Thursday. On the way they picked up their sister, Maude Peck, Salt Lake City, and brought her here. On Friday, their other sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Belsley arrived from Oakville, Iowa. They all went to Edmond on Saturday to see Merrill Denning. Others there were Walter Bierig, Okeene; and Jerry Bierig, Enid.
On Sunday they went to Ralston to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Moon's for a cookout and birthday celebration. Others there were Marie Forbes, Mr. and Mrs. David Moon and girls, Skiatook; Mr. and Mrs. Greg Moon, Scott Potter and Mr. and Mrs. George Sexton. Happy birthday to Alta, whose birthday was on Sunday.

Rev. Floyd Hobart MCKINNEY, 60, passed away at Enid, Oklahoma on Tuesday, October 13, 1998, and funeral services were held here Friday.
Known by his many friends as "Frog" he was born on June 12, 1938 at Fairfax, Oklahoma. He attended school there and continued to live there after he married Betty REEVES of Pawnee on October 8, 1958. They had 2 daughters: Tammy McKinney and Mary Jo McKinney.
He and his wife, Betty, were divorced. Later he moved to Enid where he married Linda REEMS of Enid on November 13, 1993.
He was ordained on April 22, 1994 into the Christian Ministry and he established the Tabernacle Misson and Church, where he helped the homeless, needy and hungry.
Surviving is his wife, 2 daughters, and 2 grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 brothers - all of Sedan, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Sue McKinney Alexander and Joann McKinney Hunt, both of Fairfax, Oklahoma.
The Rev. Francis McKinney officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral service on Friday, October 16, 1998, at the Poteet Funeral Chapel, followed by burial in the Fairfax, Oklahoma Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon PULLIAM Will Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Long time Perry residents, Leon and Deloris Pulliam, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary October 31, 1998. A gathering of family and friends is planned for Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Best Western Cherokee Strip Restaurant in Perry.
Deloris, daughter of Ernest "Stony" LAWSON and Elsie (GREGOR) Lawson, lived in Pawnee until her marriage and has remained close to family and friends in the area throughout the years.
Leon is the son of Herb and Alta PULLIAM of Newkirk. His first job with the Santa Fe Railroad at an early age brought the Pulliam family to Perry in 1959. He retired in 1989 after 43 years of service.
A full-time homemaker, mother and grandmother, Deloris is known as an accomplished seamstress. She has meticulously handcrafterd everything from Perry Maroon cheerleading outfits to several wedding gowns, with each bead or touch of lace carefully hand sewn into place.
Mr. and Mrs. Pulliam are lifelong members of the Church of Christ. In 1990, following Leon's retirement, the Pulliam's began working with a Christian organization, The Sojourners. Group members travel independently throughout the United States doing service projects for congregations in need. Over the course of the past 8 years, their travels have taken them to every state, except those in the far northeast, and those are on the agenda for next year.
For their 50th anniversary, Leon and Deloris took a 10 week expedition to Alaska. The couple successfully raised 3 children: Richard Joe "Dick" Pulliam and wife Diane of Perry, Kathy and husband Steve Montgomery of Guthrie; and Diann and husband Gene Owen of Edmond. They have 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

BURKDOLL
Loyd F. BURKDOLL, 90, passed away near Pawhuska on Saturday, October 24, 1998, and funeral services were held here this morning. Born October 7, 1908 in Ingles, Oklahoma to Charlie Marion Burddoll and Willa Mae (LESTER) Burkdoll, he attended Pawnee schools, graduating in 1927 and lived in the Pawnee area all of his life.
He married Loretta HAMBY on May 1, 1932 in Chandler, Oklahoma and they had been married for 66 years at the time of his passing. In 1944 he went to work selling Mormans Minerals and remained their representative until he retired in 1974. However, through the years, he was a successful rancher, cattleman, businessman and an avid outdoorsman.
Known as many as "Dee" he served on the board of directiors of the Pawnee National Bank for several years and was a member of the Church of Christ and the Cattlemen's Association.
Surviving is his wife, plus 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren, plus several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. this moring, Wednesday, October 28, 1998, at the First United Methodist Church of Pawnee with Clay Webb and the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. BRANDENBURG
Fern Elizabeth BRANDENBURG, 80, passed away at her home in Ralston on Wednesday, October 21, 1998, and funeral services were held Saturday.
She was born on August 4, 1918 at Ralston, Oklahoma to Irwin FREEMAN and Grace (LAWSON) Freeman on August 4, 1918 and married Willard Brandenburg on September 27, 1937 at Ouray, Colorado. They moved back to Ralston from Colorado in 1956 and she was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the First Born.
Fern owned and operated an antique shop in Ralston from 1972 to 1982 and was well known for her hospitality and cooking and feeding everyone (as her family said - whether they were hungry or not). She is survived by her husband plus 4 children, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother and 2 sisters: Forrest Freeman of Montrose, Colorado, Ethel Schlegel of Vancouver, Washington, and Mona Byyny of Lakewood, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Randall Wayne Drymon.
Doyle Combs and Butch Crowley officiated at the graveside service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 1998 at Ralston's Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

BENNETT
Jerry Leon BENNETT, 63, passed away in Pawnee on Sunday, October 25, 1998, and funeral services were held at Skedee, Tuesday. Born on June 24, 1935 to Jim Bennett and Ora Vista (KELSO) Bennett at Cleveland, Oklahoma, he married Barbara BLATCHFORD in Pawnee in 1986. He was a resident of Pawnee County all of his life and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors and was a lifetime musician.
Surviving is his wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters, 4 sisters and 1 brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 1998, at graveside at the Skedee, Oklahoma Cemetery with the Rev. Louis Bernard officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

ELLIS
Clifford Ralph ELLIS, 79, former County Commissioner, passed away in Tulsa on Tuesday, October 20, 1998 and funeral services were held in Hallett, Friday. Born at Jennings on January 5, 1919, to Ralph Bryan Ellis and Luella (JOHNSON) Ellis, he lived in Pawnee County - District One all his life. He worked in CCC camps building roads around Durango, Colorado from 1935-36 and married Mildred Mary WARDEN on October 15, 1938 in Pawnee.
Clifford served as Pawnee County Commissioner from District One from 1963-1981. He had a total of 40 years with Pawnee County before, after and during his term as Commissioner. He enjoing hunting and was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Hallett, Oklahoma.
Surviving is his wife, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his stepmother, 2 sisters and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Michael Dale Merriman.

TATE Family Held Reunion October 24
Descendants of Garland and Nora TATE gathered Saturday, October 24 at Two Rivers of the Four Winds Center in Keystone State Park for their annual reunion.
The event was hosted by the family of the late Ettat Tate VanDeventer. Family and friends enjoyed entertainment of a 3-piece band featuring Randy VanDeventer of Owasso, on the steel guitar. All were captivated with the magical tricks of Brandini, also of Owasso.

SAGER Family Held Reunion at Cushing
A family reunion was held Sunday, October 18, at the Cushing city park. The community log cabin housed 110 guests from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Fall decorations were used throughout the building. Centerpieces of large gourds adorned each table. Center the gourds was a diagram of Oklahoma, inscribed with "Sager Reunion 1998." The gourds were passed around for each to sign and then given away as door prizes at a drawing.
The SAGER Family settled in the Pawnee area in early 1890. Jacob and Rachel Sager came from Crawford County, Illinois. They homesteaded 10 miles from Pawnee. The first house was a one-room log cabin. They soon build a three-room frame house. Jacob saw a need for children to have an education, so he gave a tract in the Southeast corner of his land for a school. On April 1, 1896, District 32 was platted 3 miles east and west and 4 miles north and south. The school was appropriately called "Sagerville." It was consolidated with the Quay and Glencoe schools in 1947.
In 1900 Jacob's son James William and Angeline Sager and 2 small sons, Nelson and Miles, came from Crawford County, Illiois to settle in Pawnee, but stayed in Kansas for a short period. They then settled on a farm near Jacob and Rachel's in Pawnee. William and Angie had other children, Emma, Everett, Mary, George and Elsie. All the children attended the Sagerville school except George and Elsie.

GENTRY
Nancy Jane (MORRIS) GENTRY, 98, passed away in Pawnee on Thursday, October 29, 1998, and her funeral was held here on Monday.
She was born on September 6, 1900, in Pawnee to Adren Morris and Mollie (DAVIS) Morris. Nancy and Herschel H. Gentry were married on July 10, 1926 in Perry. They lived in Pawnee except for those years that his job with the railroad took them elsewhere and they lived in Maramec and Enid until returning to Pawnee in 1940. Mr. Gentry passed awy on October 31, 1983.
She enjoyed farming and the farm animals and had a special gift for gardening of flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed quilting. Surviving is a son and daughter, 5 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and 4 sisters.
Mrs. Gentry was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Pawnee. The pastor of that church, the Rev. Bob Copeland, officiated at the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Monday, November 2, at the Eshelman Memorial Chapel at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. Burial followed in Highland. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Lola ZOLDOSKE, Rites Set Here On Thursday

Lola Zoldoske, pioneer Pawnee County citizen, 96, passed away at the Pawnee Municipal Hospital on Tuesday, November 3, 1998.
Her funeral will be held tomorrow, Thursday, November 5, at 10 a.m. at the Eshelman Memorial Chapel at Highland Cemetery. Burial will follow in the Masham Cemetery. A complete obituary will appear in next week's issue.

HARSHBARGER
Bert Lyle HARSHBARGER, 73, passed away in Skedee on Sunday, November 1, 1998 and funeral services were held there this morning.
Born on June 24, 1925, to Forrest Wesley Harshbarger and Ruth Florene (PIPER) Harshbarger in Skedee, Oklahoma, he lived in Skedee all his life. He married Theda Rae FUNKHOUSER on November 17, 1945, in Winfield, Kansas, and they had been married 53 years at the time of his passing.
Bert retired from oilfield work and farming. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and his greatest joy ws being with his family. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, 2 sons, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Judy Janel Love; a brother, Wesley Homer Harshbarger and a sister Zola Mae Eckstrom.
The Rev. Dr. Clem Dozer officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service, assisted by the Rev. Scott Keneda, on Wednesday, November 4, 1998, at the Skedee United Methodist Church, where he had been a member for many years. Burial followed in the Skedee Cemetery under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Dora May Mynear BROWN, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 1998, at her home in Ralston. Funeral services will be held in Ralston this afternoon.
She was born at Valley, Pawnee County, Oklahoma on October 19, 1912 to George William "Bill MYNEAR and Willora (FREEZE) Minear. She married Loamma Carl "L.C. BROWN on November 26, 1930, at the Pawnee County Courthouse. They moved to Ralston from the family farm south of Blackburn, Oklahoma, in the winter of 1931 and she has lived there since.
She was an active member of the Ralston First Baptist Church, a member of the Ralston Senior Citizens.
Dora represented Ralston as a correspondent for the Pawnee Chief for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, 2 sons, a daughter, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, 7 great granddaughters and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
Mrs. BROWN was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, one grandson and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Ralston, with the Rev. Charles WELCH officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, near Ralston, under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

ZOLDOSKE
Lola Alice ZOLDOSKE, long time teacher and lifetime resident of the Pawnee community, 96, passed away in Pawnee on Tuesday, November 3, 1998.
Funeral services were held here Thursday.
Born in the Pawnee area on November 28, 1901 to Frank Andrew ZOLDOSKE and Gracie (VAUGHN) Zoldoske, she graduated from Pawnee High in 1924, completed her college work and became a teacher. She never married.
She was a math teacher for 42 before retiring.
Surviving is a nephew, a niece, a cousin, and a brother-in-law, plus a number of other relatives.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pawnee and the pastor, Rev. Bob COPELAND, officiated at the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, November 5, 1998, at the Eshelman Memorial Chapel at Pawnee's Highland Park Cemetery. Burial followed in the Masham Cemetery.
The Poteet funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

REED
Beula Leah REED, a long time Pawnee resident, 84, died at Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, October 3, 1998. Funeral services were held in Pawnee on Saturday.
Born on August 15, 1914, at Chelsea, Oklahoma to George LeRoy MCCULLOUGH and Odra Elizabeth (BLACKWELL) McCullough, she attended school in Shidler, Oklahoma and married Guy Franklin REED in Pawnee on May 21, 1934. They were married about 42 years when he passed away on April 10, 1976.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse.
Buelah was ordained as a minister of the Assembly of God Church on April 21, 1943. On February 27, 1959 she became a minister in the nondenominational Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include 3 daughters, a son, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, a sister, and a number of other relatives.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: George and Clarence MCCULLOUGH and a sister, Martha CALKINS, and a son, Jackie Charles REED in 1937.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 1998, at the First Assembly of God with the Rev. James EUBANKS officiating. Interment followed at the Highland Park Cemetery, in Pawnee, under the direction of the Poteet Funeral Home.

HARRAGARRA
Victor Lowell HARRAGARRA, 51, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 1998, at Shawnee. Funeral services will be held this morning in Oklahoma City.
Born June 2, 1947, in Enid, Oklahoma, he was a retired postman for Oklahoma City and had made his home in Shawnee since 1983.
Surviving are his wife, a son, and a daughter. Also surviving is his father and mother, 5 brothers and 5 sisters, plus a number of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Victor Lowell HARRAGARRA, Jr., and his grandparents, Corbett and Ruth WHITE. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. this morning at the Glorietta Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, with the Rev. Steve FLOCH officiating. Interment followed at the Concho Cemetery under direction of the Huber-Benson Funeral Home of El Reno, Oklahoma.

In a ceremony performed October 24, 1998 at a floating gazebo on Lake Lucerne, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Elizabeth M. Dewell became the bride of Michael J. Mitchell.
Following the ceremony the couple spent four days at the Lake Lucerne Resort. The newlyweds now reside at Route 1, Pawnee. The bride is employed by Miss Francie's Children's Center in Pawnee and the groom is employed by National Standard in Stillwater. (Photo)

Ray GIBSON Attends Reunion in Alabama
Ancestors of Ezekial Gibson met October 25, in Anniston, Alabama to renew acquaintances and study the Gibson family tree. Clan members traveled from as far away as Oklahoma, with Ray Gibson, Ralston, representing descendants of Rufus Gibson.
Rufus Gibson emigrated to Oklahoma in 1909 after leaving the eastern part of Alabama. His father, William Smith Gibson, was wounded in the Civil War during the Battle of Atlanta. Rufus' grandfather, Ezekial Gibson, was killed March 17, 1863 in a Civil War battle.
The 1998 Gibson reunion was attended by 85 people. Popularity of the reunion grows annually.

The Jeff and Melva BOWEN family reunion was held Sunday, October 25, at the home of Ronnie and Beth LeForce, in the Masham area. The day was spent visiting, eating favorite foods and participating in lawn activities.

Betty Jeanne (HARNED) MARTIN, 74, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 1998, at a Lawton, Oklahoma Hospital and funeral services will be held Thursday.
She was born on June 15, 1924 at Maramec, Oklahoma, to Carl and Josephine (FINN) Harned and attended school in Maracmec. Betty and Robert (Bob) M. MARTIN were married on April 22, 1944 at Shidler, Oklahoma and they have lived in Duncan, Oklahoma for the past several yuears. She had worked for the USDA for 30 years before retiring, and played the organ at the Highland Park Baptist Church for 40 years.
Betty was an active member of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Duncan, was a member of the Eastern Star and Campers on Mission (Mission Service Corporation). She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters: Marie Davis Palmer of Arlington, Texas and Alta (Dori) Higgins of Pleansanton, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Revs. Bob Haskins, Charles Graves and Winston Curtis at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 1998, at the Highland Park Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Maramec's IOOF Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. that day. Arrangements were handled by the Don Grantham Funeral Home of Duncan.

Denis and Mary Esther DIEKER's guests recently were her son, George and Sharon Harris, of Ponca City.

Granddaughter Lauryn FUNKHOUSER spent the weekend with her grandparents, Carl and Beverly Funkhouser.

Betty KITCHEN is looking forward to visiting and caring for great grandson Trey KENT of Fairland this coming week, while he's visiting his grandparents, Gary and and Carol LYONS.

Wednesday night Mary SULLINS' cousin, Vida Ann WILLIAMS, came for a two day visit enroute home to Salinas, California. She had been visiting her sister in Missouri.

Granddaughter, Rayna SULLINS was home for a few days from college. Mary attended the estate sale of her brother's, Ivil SANDERS. She visited with her younger brother, Henry Sanders.

Juanita VANCE just returned from a trip with her son, Walter and Marie VANCE, to Branson and Eureka Springs.

Eagle Scout Award - MEYERDIRK

Matthew MEYERKIRK, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma received his Eagle Scout award Saturday. Special guests were Senator Bruce Bright and Rep. Clay Pope. A letter was ready from the President, Bill Clinton.
During the award presentation, great grandmother Daisy BERNET presented Matthew with his great grandfather, L.L. Bernet's scouting scarf.

Marriage vows will be solemnized at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 1998 for Miss Amanda RUDD and David SNYDER. The Rev. Mark Evans will officiate the ceremony at the Skedee Assembly of God Church.
The bride is the daughter of Tammie Odom of Destin, Florida, and Rickey Rudd of Dallas, Texas. The groom is the son of Cecilia Snyder of Ralston, and the late David Snyder.
The bride-elect graduated in 1994 from Oak Hill High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The prospective groom is a 1994 graduate of Woodland High School and is currently stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
Following their wedding, the couple will live in Shalimar, Florida. An open invitation is extended to family and friends to attend the wedding and reception following.

Della Louise "Chuck" ARP, 85, passed away at Tulsa on Wednesday, November 18, 1998 and memorial funeral services were held in Cleveland, Saturday.
Born at Blackburn, Oklahoma on June 4, 1913, to Fred PLUMMER and Anna (MORHAIN) Plummer, she married John Truman Arp on February 4, 1934 at Arkansas City, Kansas. They moved to Billings, Montana, from Ponca City in 1948. She was owner/manager of the Overpass Motel and the Central Motel of Billings and was a member of the Montana Motel Association and the United Methodist Church. They moved to Pawnee from Billings, Montana in 1979 and Mr. Arp passed away on June 25, 1990.
She is survived by 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Vi Hughes of Pawnee.
The memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 1998, at the Baptist Village Retirement Home at Cleveland, where she was a resident, with Pastor Jim Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home.

We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, gifts and visits to Maverick while he was hospitalized in Tulsa. The support that Maverick and our family received was temendous and we do believe this and all of your prayers are what kept him so cheerful during his stay and the days since.

Mindy ALLEN - Jason VANCE To Marry New Year's Eve
Miss Mindy Beth Allen will become the bride of Jason Baning Vance at 7:00 p.m., December 31, 1998 at Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Paul and Jan Allen of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of James and Audrey Westervelt and Cleo and Alice Allen of Columbus, Kansas.
Parents of the prospective groom are Jay and Lina Vance of Owasso. His grandparents are Clarence and Elaine Banning, and the late Orville and Edity Vance, all of Pawnee.
Mindy is a 1996 graduate of Union High School and is currently a junior at Sam Houston State, majoring in Computer Information Systems. Jason graduated from Owasso High School in 1994 and graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma State University in May 1998 with a BS degree in Management Information Systems. Wedding vows will be soleminized at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 1998 for Miss Jada Berry and Brad Norman. The ceremony will take place in the Boulevard Wedding Chapel in Edmond.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stacey and Myra McCurry of Morrison. John W. and Cecilia Norman of Edmond are parents of the prospective groom.
Miss Berry is a 1990 graduate of Pawnee High School. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1993 from USAO in Chickasha. She is currently employed by Arinc, Inc. in Oklahoma City and pursuing a master's of business administration degree at Oklahoma City University.
Mr. Norman is a 1990 graduate from Putnam City West High School, Oklahoma City. He attended Oklahoma State University for two years, and graduated from Malone College in North Canton, Ohio, with a liberal arts degree. He is a second year law student at Oklahoma City University.

Sunshine FCE
Deloris Higgins hosted members of the Blackburn Sunshine FCE ion her home, Friday, November 13. President Louise Marlow called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. Mary Cox gave the devotional. Members answered roll call by stating their favorite holiday food. The hostess served refreshments to Doris Dawes, Alma Caughlin, Shirley Hurst, Mildred Main, Doris Compton, Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Weaver and Mrs. Marlow. Louise Marlow will host the December 18 meeting.

Hazel E. WOOD, 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 1998, in Pawnee and a memorial service will be held here, Thursday.
She was born in Glencoe, Oklahoma on September 6, 1910 to William Berry WHITSON and Ella Nora (KAPPENBINK) Whitson. She attended school in Glencoe and Pawnee, graduating from Pawnee High School.
She married Hughs JONAS in 1928 and he preceded her in death in 1967. She married Arthur "Pete" PETERSON in 1968 and he died in 1980. She married Glen WOOD in 1986 and he died in 1994.
Hazel worked for the telephone company for 32 years and upon retirement went to work in a dress shop and later at a grocery store. She and her husband, Pete Peterson moved to Lake Texhoma and his health forced them to return to Glencoe. She worked as a waitress then as a social services worker in a Stillwater nursing home. In recent years, she has lived in her home in Pawnee with a grandson, Tony JONAS.
She is survivied by 4 children, 8 great grandchildren, and the mother of her grandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Billy Hughs Jonas, and one grandson.
Memorial funeral services will be held at the Poteet Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 1998, with the Rev. Virgle Calvert officiating. Interment will follow in Pawnee's Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee. (PHOTO)

Donald L. WORTHY, 62, passed away Friday, November 20, 1998 and funeral services were held Monday at Sperry, Oklahoma. He was born in Pawnee on August 20, 1936, to Lawrence and Nadine Worthy. He was reared here and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1954.
He married Connie WEGNER of Pawnee on May 22, 1956. Don was retired from American Airlines, where he worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and where needed. He was an avid fisherman and loved all sports.
Surviving is his wife, 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, his mother, 3 brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend Bill Field at the Grace Baptist Church in Sperry on Monday, November 23, 1998, followed by interment in the Resthaven Cemetery at Sperry under direction of the Johnson Funeral Home of Sperry.

Burnice Frankie BENNETT, 83, passed away at Ralston on Wednesday, November 25, 1998, and funeral services were held in Pawnee on Saturday.
Born in Dunaway, Missouri on February 8, 1915 to Charles Wesley Bennett and Rena (LEWIS) Bennett, he moved to Ralston with his family at a young age and has lived there most of his life.
He married Lillia Juanita HUSE on July 9, 1938, at Pawnee. He was a veteran of WWII and a charter member of the Amrican Legion Post No. 333 of Ralston.
Mr. Bennett worked for the Tulsa Sand Company for over 40 years and retired in 1986 and moved to Ralston. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is a daughter and 4 sons, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, on September 17, 1990, plus his parents, a son, Russell Lee; grandson, John Patrick, 6 brothers and a sister.
The Rev. John Holt officiated at the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 1998 at the Poteet Funeral Chapel in Pawnee followed by burial in the Riverside Cometery near Ralston. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Awynee WILKEY, 80, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 1998 at Ponca City and funeral services were held in Morrison, Oklahoma on Monday.
Born on December 8, 1917 at Morrison to Fredrick Grant LOGAN and Mary Mabel (HILLMAN) Logan, she was reared in Morrison and graduated from Morrison High School in 1935.
She married James C. Wilkey on March 6, 1938 at Pawnee and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1990. Mrs. Wilkey lived briefly in Pawnee, Perry and Oklahoma City, but spent most of her life in Morrison, where she was a member of the Morrison Assembly of God Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death buy her parents, three brothers: Embert, Freddie and Jimmie and one sister, Lenora Alice and a grandchild.
The Rev. Eddie Kendall officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral service at the Morrison Assembly of God Church on Monday, November 30, 1998. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery. The Poteet Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Laverne Elizabeth (LIVERGOOD) CHASE, 79, passed away on November 12, 1998 in Dallas, Texas and private services were held in Dallas.
She was born on April 13, 1919 in Pawnee to Cloyd Ellis Livergood and Lillie G. (STAPLETON) Livergood and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1936.
As a high school student in Pawnee, she was a Rainbow Girland belonged to the First Christian Church. She graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in Tulsa and served in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps from 1942 to 1946.
She was married to Murray Chase and they lived in Bergenfield, New Jersey for many years, and retired in Duncanville, Texas. Survivors include a son, a granddaughter, and a sister, plus a step granddaughter and step grandson and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, George Livergood.

Dewey HAIRBACK, 59, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 1998 and funeral services were held near Ponca City, Saturday.
He was born on August 28, 1939, in Pawnee to Joseph Hairyback and Marcella (ARKEKETA) Hairyback. He was a long time resident of the Ponca City area and was a member of the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. He was a farm laborer and loved horseback riding. He was never married.
Survivors include his father, a brother, and 3 sisters. His mother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Novembert 28, 1998 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Freeman officiating. Interment followed in the Ponca Indian Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Cara Beth CULVER will Marry Jason JOHNSON, December 19
Mrs. Verna CULVER of Pawnee and Mr. Jim CULVER of Tulsa, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth, and Jason Eugene Johson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Johnson of Blackwell.
The bride-to-be is a 1995 graduate of Pawnee High School and will graduate in May from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, with a degree in accounting.
The prospective groom, a 1992 graduate of Blackwell High School and a 1996 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, is the Dean of Men at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.
The wedding is planned for Saturday, December 19, 1998 at 4:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Pawnee. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
An open invitation is extended to friends and family to attend the ceremony and reception.

Frances Ricenbaw HOLM, 46, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 1998 in Tulsa. Funeral services were held here the following Saturday. Born in Pawnee on October 22, 1952 to Richard George HARRIS and Mary Esther (BUCHANAN) Harris, she attended and graduated from high school at Fargo, Oklahoma. She then attended Cameron State College at Lawton and Oscar Rose Junior College in Oklahoma City.
She married David Ricenbaw of Woodward, Oklahoma in 1975 and they moved to Hereford, Texas, where he died sometime later. She was an accomplished musician and vocalist and served in the Nazarene Church in those areas of ministry.
Frances was married to Scott Holm, Tulsa, and he survives as do two sons and two granddaughters.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Hereford and the pastor there, the Rev. Ted Taylor, officiated at the Eshelman Memorial Chapel at Pawnee's Highland Cemetery on Saturday, November 28, 1998. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee. The Don Smith Funeral Home of Drumright was in charge of arrangements.

BAKER
Elizabeth M. BAKER, 92, passed away at Casper, Wyoming on Monday, December 7, 1998 and funeral services were held there today.
Born March 18, 1906 in Pawnee, to Will and Effie (COX) GRIESEL, she grew up in Oklahoma and was a rural school teacher during the 1920's in Oklahoma. She married Ralph Baker in 1925. During WWII she was a riveter at Douglas Air in Oklahoma. Mr. Baker was a pipefitter and his work took them to many states. In 1957 tey went to Casper, where she worked as a housekeeper at various hotels. She was known as a proud mother.
She is survived by 4 daughters and 4 sons, plus numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surving are 3 brothers and a sister, all of Pawnee: Leroy, Dan and Bob Griesel and Mrs. Thelma Meeker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons: Billy and Stephen Baker, and a sister, Ethel Berg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, December 9, 1968, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming. Burial followed in Casper's Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory of Casper.

Elton Bernard "Ferd" FREEMAN, 71, passed away at Osage, Oklahoma on Tuesday, December 8, 1998, leaving over 60 direct descendants. Funeral services were held at Osage on Thursday.
Born at DeQueen, Arkansas, on January 28, 1927 to Alton Freemand and Grace (FORD) Freeman, he was a veteran of WWII with the U.S. Infantry.
Elton married Sharon DIMMICK at Perry, Oklahoma on November 30, 1973. He lived in Los Angeles for 17 years before moving back to Enid and from there moved to Osage, Oklahoma in 1985.
He was owner of Freeman Scaffolding and Erection of Enid from 1979 to 1983 and contracted to Champlin Refinery at Enid. He was a member of the Carpenter Local Union 763 and also a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge, both of Enid. He enjoyed and participated in Native American traditional customs.
Surving is his wife, 8 children, 30 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Elton Leroy Freeman and a sister, Betrice MCFARLAND, a grandson and a granddaughter.
He was a member of the Nondenominational Church.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. at the Freeman residence, in Osage, with the Rev. J.C. Harness, Melvin Bevenue, The Rev. Jim Hargett and Elder Isiah Williams officiating. Interment followed in the Enid Cemetery under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Wayne A. CATES, 77, passed away in Pawnee on Tuesday, December 8, 1998 and funeral services were held in Pawnee on Friday.
He was born in Jackson County, Oklahoma on June 15, 1921 to Thomas Meredith Cates and Nettie May (BYER) Cates. After losing his father at the age of 7, the family moved to the Pawnee area.
On January 28, 1940 he married Della E. WALKER at Fairfax, Oklahoma and they lived on a farm north of Pawnee in the Masham area for 41 years, before moving into Pawnee a few years ago.
Besides doing farm work, he operated a bulldozer for 39 years before retiring. Wayne enjoyed square dancing, hunting, playing horse shoes and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by 2 sons and a daughter, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters: Alber, Ward, Harold, James, Opal, Ethel, Mary and Essie, plus a son, Franklin Cates.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, December 11, 1998 at the First Assembly of God Church, where he was a member, with the pastor the Rev. James Eubanks, officiating. Burial followed in the Masham Cemetery under directions of the Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Ida Belle HENDERSON, 90, passed away at Bethany, Oklahoma on Tuesday, December 8, 1998, and funeral services were held in Tulsa on Thursday.
Born May 12, 1908 at Purdy, Missouri, to Francis Pinkney Henderson and Olive May (JORDAN) Henderson, she never married.
She was proud of her active duty service during WWII with the WAC where she earned the rank of Staff Sargent and was a driver for the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
She taught school in Tulsa for over 30 years and lived in the Collinsville and Tulsa area most of her life, moving to the Oklahoma City area in 1988.
She enjoyed fishing and her main hobby was showing her dogs. One special black cocker spaniel of hers, named Dinah, won the championship.
She is survived by a niece, a great nephew and 2 great nieces, and a special friend, Carol STROEBEL, of Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers (one of which was the Rev. M.E. Henderson of Ralston) and a special friend, Rosemary PRIMM.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 1998 at Tulsa's Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Welch officiating.

Luther Lee MCGLASLIN, Sr., 76, passed away on Friday, December 11, 1998, at Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held here Monday.
Born May 3, 1922, at Red Rock, Oklahoma to Charlie McGlasklin and Lena (ARKEKETA) Hartico, he was a member of the Otoe-Missouria tribe.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and married Juanita Mae TAYLOR of Pawnee on September 13, 1947, at Winfield, Kansas. They made their home in the area now occupied by the Sooner Lake, moving to Enid in 1962.
Luther was a carpenter by trade and worked for the Bank Lumber Yard in Enid until he was 62. He has also served as a pastor in the Enid area and enjoyed being a silversmith.
He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, 4 daughters, 1 son, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother and 3 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Taylor McGlaslin, 2 sisters: Lydia Childs Williams and Elizabeth McGlaslin and a brother, Robert McGlaslin.
The Rev. Max Malone officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral service at the Poteet Funeral Chapel in Pawnee on Monday, December 14, 1998, followed by burial in the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery near Red Rock, Oklahoma. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee was in charge of arrangements.

Nola Frances HOWARD WHITE, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 1998, at Silverton, Oregon and funeral services will be held at Corning, California on Thursday.
Born in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on October 26, 1911 to Robert and Dona MAIZE, she moved to Corning, California in the early 1960's and lived there for 20 years, moving to Woodburn, Oregon, where she has lived for 16 years.
She loved to cook and care for her family and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Surviving is her husband, Nathan WHITE, of Woodburn, plus 3 sons and a daughter, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Also surviving are 2 brothers: Houston Maize of Lebanon, South Dakota and Arthur Maize of Clovis, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sons, Bob A. and Jerry P. HOWARD.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 17, 1998, at the Sunset Hill Cemetery at Corning, California. Arrangements are being handled by the Hall Brothers Corning Mortuary of Corning.

he Ferguson home, aglow with traditional Christmas decorations, provided a festive holiday setting for the auction of hand-made craft items, baked goods, an olive wood Nativity scene from Bethlehem, homemade candies and a variety of other items. Proceeds from the auction will be used for local scholarships and P.E.O. state and national educational projects.

Alvin and Sue BERG To Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary
Longtime residents, Alvin and Sue BERG, will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on December 27.
Alvin Berg, son of W.O. and Ivie Berg of Pawnee, and Susietta CINNAMON, daughter of George and Carrie Cinnamon of Garber, were united in marriage December 27, 1938 in Dewey. After 14 years with the Soil Conversation Service at Rush Springs, Pawhuska, Fairview, Cherokee and Vinita, they returned to Pawnee County in 1951. They farmed east of Pawnee until 1989, when they moved to town and have resided here since.
During their marriage, Alvin and Sue have been strong supporters of the United Methodist Church, OSU, Pawnee and Oklahoma.
Their children and grandchildren wish them many more happy years of marriage and invite friends and relatives to help them celebrate by participating in a card shower. (Photo)

The Oak Grove Community Club met December 10 in the home of Nadine RIDGEWAY for their Christmas Luncheon and gift exchange. Eleven members, one guest, and five husbands were present.
Officers will remain the same for the 1999 year, with the exception of Bonnie NIMERICK, who will be the new Vice President.

Stacy MATHEWS, 86, died in Glencoe on Thursday, December 17, 1998 and funeral services were held in Pawnee on Monday. He was a direct descendant of one of the original Pawnee Indian Scouts and toured with the Pawnee Bill Wild West Show.
Stacy was born on June 18, 1912, at Lela, Oklahoma to William Mathews and Nannie (Curly Chief) Mathews.
In his early days he was a member of the Pawnee Bill Wild West Show and traveled to several different states.
As a youth living in the Council Valey community he played on local baseball teams and later was a member of the Pawnee Indian Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed dancing at pow wows.
He married Helen KENT on August 5, 942 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Stacy served as one of the 4 band chiefs on the tribal council for several years and was a direct descendant of Curley Chief, one of the original members of the first Pawnee Scouts.
Burial at the South Indian Cemetery, southof Pawnee. The Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee was in charge of arrangements.

PRATT
Lucy (WHITE) PRATT, 93 passed away at Pawnee on Friday, December 18, 1998.  
Born in Pawnee on October 23, 1905, to Barkley WHITE and Rebecca (MOSES) WHITE, she lived in the Pawnee area all of her life. She married Harry PRATT at Stillwater on May 9, 1928 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1977.
She is survived by a daughter and a sister. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, 10 nieces and nephews, and a number of other relatives.
Besides her husband, Harry PRATT, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jackelyn, son Vernon PRATT; stepson Lamont PRATT, sisters Minnie HORSECHIEF and Hazel PRATT and half sister Gertie CLARK.

BELL
Patrick Henry BELL, Sr., 81, passed away in Pawnee on Saturday, December 19, 1998. Born November 17, 1917 to Ernest BELL and Grace (PERRINE) BELL in Pawnee, he lived in Pawnee County all of his life.
He was married to Hazel ARMSTRONG on April 26, 1938 in Tulsa. They divorced in 1968.
Surviving are 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great gradchildren and 3 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Luke CHADWELL; and a sister, Ann VOORHIES.
Funeral service on Tuesday, December 23, 1998, at the Poteet Funeral Chapel followed by burial in Pawnee's Highland Park Cemetery.

VANBUSKIRK
Viola VANBUSKIRK, retired teacher,88, passed away at her home in Morrison on Sunday, December 20, 1998, and funeral services were held in Morrison on Tuesday.
She was born on May 5, 1910 at Blackwell, OK to James and Lelah (HULL) EGAN and married Russell Eugene VANBUSKIRK on August 2, 1930, in Alva. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1998. They had been married 67 years.
Mrs. VANBUSKIRK taught in elementary schools for over 40 years, 24 of which were in Morrison, where she had been a resident since 1957. She was honored by being named the Morrison Teacher of the Year at one time.
Surviving are 4 daughters and a son, 11 grandchildren and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at the Morrison Christian Church with the Rev. Michael Stein officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Brown Funeral Home of Perry.
