BAKER
BROKEN ARROW - Sharon BAKER was born November 25, 1925. She died in December 2005.
Funeral services were held December 17 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A family reception was hosted by
American Legion Post 308. No information was given about the place of interment.
She was the daughter of Homer and Lena McFarland Gordon. She attended Graham District #32 for twelve
years. After graduatrion she enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Women Reserves. She attended motor
transport school at Camp Lejeune and served at Quantico, Virginia during the duration of World War II.
She was honored in 2003 as the Oklahoma Female Veteran of the Year for her volunteerism with veterans
organizations. She was the founder of Oklahoma’s first chapter of Women Marines Association in 1978
and served nine years as its president. She was a life member of the Marine Corps League, a member of
American Legion Post 308 Honor Guard and Women of the Moose Lodge 862. She also was a Girl Scouts
leader for six years.
She was preceded in death b her parents; her brother, Charles “Buster” Gordon; and sisters, Jackie Baldwin
and Odessa Stewart. Survivors included her daughters, Royala Rodtke of Tulsa, Connie Lumsden of
Saginaw, TX, Ronda Kellogg and Retha Perry, both of Catoosa; her son, Russel Radtke of Tulsa; sisters
Lillie Massengale of Dustin, Eileen Sanders and Liz Robison, both of Lamar; brother, John Gordon of
Moore; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and cherished
friends.

THOMPSON
SCHULTER - Daniel “Bodee” THOMPSON was born June 12, 1945 in Pierce. He died in December
2004. Funeral services were held December 31 at the Schulter Gymnasium. Honorary pallbearers were
Newman Thomson, Jr., Marshall Thompson, Emmanuel Thompson, Darryl Dudley, Joe Henry, Jack
Alexander, and Reuben Freeman, Sr. No information was given on the place of interment.
His parents were Newman and Cinda Thompson. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1966 to
1971 and served in Vietnam. He was a pipeline welder and a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of
the American Lelgion, Elks Lodge, Local Pipeliners Union and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed
visiting places, listening to music and visting family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Russell Thompson and Henry Thompson, and sisters
Bessie Freeman and Ethyl Wyatt. Survivors include his wife, Kim Rich of the home; daughters Cassandra
Harjo, Dana Thompson and Carol K. Thompson, all of Okemah; five grandchildren; brothers Emmanuel of
Checotah, Newman Jr. of Henryetta and Marshall Thompson of Yuma, AZ; and sisters Etta Dickerson of
Sapulpa and Sarah Harjo Thompson of Tulsa.

WOZENCRAFT
OCALA, FL - Patricia WOZENCRAFT was born in November 1937. She died of breast cancer on
November 19, 2004 ten days before her 67th birthday. Funeral services were held November 19, 2004.
She was cremated and a memorial Service was held December 2 at her church at Oakbrook Life Center in
Ocala, Florida.
She was the daughter of Bill and Pearl Conley. She graduated from Wetumka High School in 1956. She
had a gift for art and produced many sculpured horse pieces in bronze.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Thelma Conley Wyman in June 2004, and her brother,
Oscar in June 2004. She was survived by her husband Ed Wozencraft; her daughter, Roberta Sampson of
Canoga Park, CA; her son, Don Lanning of Van Nuys, CA; three brothers, Douglas Conley, Billy Conley
and Glen Conley; and two sisters, Nova Gail Conley Ball and Brenda Conley Chambers.

JIMBOY
CLEARVIEW - Helen JIMBOY was born July 12, 1932 in Clearview. She died in December 2004.
Funeral services were held December 28, 2004 at Creek Chapel Methodist Church where she had been a
longtime member. Interment was held at Creek Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Malcom Tiger and Rev. Edwin
Jimboy officiating.
She was the daughter of Pete and Annie Harjo. She was a homemaker and her hobbies were quilting and
knitting.
She was preceded in death by her husband William M. Jimboy; her parents; one son, Baby Boy Jimboy; one
grandbaby; one great-grandbaby; and two sisters, Minnie Beaver and Lou Ann Wells. She was survived by
her children, sons David Jimboy of Glenpool, Elton Jimboy of Tulsa, Marcy Jimboy of Holdenville; and
daughters Leah Ann Jack of Tulsa, Edith Jimboy of Clearview, Louisa (Kitty) Chotky of Tulsa, Robin
Armstrong of Anadarko, Margie Sue McIntosh of Glenpool, Princess Pat Chester of Hulbert; one sister,
Lettie Randell of Henryetta; three brothers, Sonnie Harjo of Okemah, James Harjo of Clearview and Morris
Harjo of Clearview.

PETSEMOIE
OKEMAH - Robert Louis PETSEMOIE, Jr. was born Septembedr 14, 1951 at Talihina. He died in January
2005. Funeral services were held on January 11 at Arbeka Indian Baptist Church where he was a member.
Interment was held at Calvin City Cemetery in Calvin.
His parents were Robert Petsemoie, Sr. and Leah Bear. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School in 1969
at the top of his class where he excelled in sports and played in the band. He also attended Southeastern
State College in Durant and Oklahoma University and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a carpenter at
Creek Nation Housing as well as being a self employed carpenter. He lived in Weleetka and Holdenville.
He was an avid Oklahoma University football fan, loved to fish at Eufaula dam, have cookouts and travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Misty Ann Newton. He was survived by his long time
companion, Joyce Harrison, of the home; three brothers, Roger Petsemoie and wife, Pat, of Ada, Carl
Petsemoie, and Herman Petsemoie and wife, Lilah, both of Holdenville; two sisters, Pamela Newton of
Holdenville and Carol Shields and husband, Kent, of Ada, and a host of other family and friends.

BARNES  (Also reported in March 2005 MNN issue)
WETUMKA - Sidney BARNES was born January 16, 1948. He died January 6, 2005. Funeral services
were held January 8 at Williamson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.B. Fish officiating. Pallbearers were
Legas Barnett, Palmer Noon, Alex Deer, Hillis Herrod, William Gouge, Steven Thompson and Toma
Barnes. Interment was held at the Barnes Family Cemetery in Wetumka.
He was the son of Tom and Leila Barnes of Wetumka. Preceding him in death were his father, Thomas
Alex Barnes; brother, Charles Thomas Barnes and two sisters, Joella Barnes and Betty Loretta Barnes.
His survivors include his mother, Leila Barnett-Barnes; sisters, Ann Gibson, Gloria B. Jones, Mickey Deer
and Paula Herrod; his children, Neville Barnes, Somachee Barnes, and Johnetta Battiest; several nieces
nephews, cousins and many special friends.

BROWN
BIXBY - Henry BROWN was born November 8, 1926 in Eufaula. He died in January 2005. Funeral
services were held January 19 at Leonard & Marker Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Alexander officiating.
Casketbearers include Matt Ciak, Roger Bell, Charles Linker, Vince Deo, John L. Brown and John John
Brown. Interment was at Bixby Cemetery.
He was the son of John and Alice Brown. He graduated in 1947 from Liberty High School where he and
his brother John D. were both outstanding players. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the
Korean War. After his service, he was employed at North American Rockwell aviation until he retired.
His hobbies included wolf hunting, coaching softball, playing dominoes and horse racing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Henry Brown, Jr.; his parents; his brother, Marchie Brown; and two
sisters Loda Stafford ad Martha Sue Deo. His survivors include his daughter, Phillis Quinn of Commerce,
California; son, Jonathan Brown of Pauls Valley; four grandchildren; two-great grandchildren; two sisters,
Dorothy Ciak of Topeka, KS and Grace Slinker of Mounds; three brothers, John of Bixby, Roy of Tulsa and
Otis Brown of Mounds; and many other relatives.

CHILDERS
COWETA - Kenneth Leroy CHILDERS was born May 31, 1940, at Claremore. He died in 2005. Funeral
services were held February 8 at the First Baptist Church with Revs.. Ed. Rutherford, George Doyle and
Randy Wilson officiating. No information was given on his pallbearers. Interment was at Vernon Cemetery
in Coweta.
He was the son of Mose Childers and Violet Williams. He grew up in Coweta and graduated from CHS in
1958 where he played football and was active in 4-H and FFA. After graduation, he served in the Navy for
two years on the USS Breckenridge. After his discharge, he attended the Chicago Allied Institute to learn
the heating and air conditioning trade. He moved to Dallas where he married Sandra Delby. He was active
in many things over the years, including rodeo bull riding, the farrier trade specializing in corrective
shoeing, and president of the Oklahoma All Indian Rodeo Association for 5 years. In 1976, he began
working as the Indian Education Director for Coweta Public Schools, a position he still held at the time of
his death. His program won the title of The Most Outstanding Indian Education program in the Unites
States in 1996. He was elected to the first Muscogee Creek Nation National Council in 1979 representing
the Wagoner, Rogers and Mayes County Districts. He was serving as Speaker of the House on the Creek
Council at the turn of the century. He was a lifetime member of the Coweta American Legion and active in
the Coweta Roundup Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Victor Childers of Tulsa, and Daniel Childers of
Broken Arrow. His survivors include two sisters, Barbara Gillespie of Coweta and Joyce Bear of
Tahlequah; two children Kenneth Leroy, Jr. and Jana Rae; and eight grandchildren.

CLEGHORN
HOLDENVILLE - Irene Jacobs CLEGHORN was born November 10, 1914 in Holdenville. She died in
2005. Funeral services were held at Many Springs Indian Baptist Church with Rev. George Doyle
officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Cleghorn, Thomas Calghorn, and Jason Cleghorn, Jeff King, Roger
Barnett and George Tiger. Interment was at the Holdenville City Cemetery.
She grew up on the Little River. Her parents were John Alexander and Nancy Tea Jacobs. She attended
Sacred Heart Catholic School, Chilocco Indian School and Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater. She
served as a Muscogee National Council Representative from the Tulsa District for 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Cleghorn; four sisters and two brothers. Her survivors
include her three sons, Robert J. Thomas W. and Ronald A. Cleghorn; a sister, Anna Jacobs King; a
grandson; two great granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.

DAILEY
OKMULGEE - Allen H. “Sonny Boy” DAILEY was born May 16, 1949 at Tahlequah. He died in January
2005. Funeral services were held January 15 at the Kelley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Casey McIntosh
and Rev. Alfred Berryhill officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Beaver, Rocky Lee, Derick and Dionn
Brownfield, Johnny Timothy II, Keith Scott and Casey McIntosh. Interment was at the Okmulgee
Cemetery.
He was the son of William Henry and Eliza Moore Dailey and a member of Little Coweta Indian Church in
Lenna. He was an internationally known artist and a featured artist with the Indian Territory Arts and
Humanities Council.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Nathaniel Beaver. His survivors include his wife,
Glenda Washington of the home; his three sons, Shannon Dailey of Tulsa, Christopher Dailey of Okmulgee
and Edward Washington of Morris; three daughters, Judith King of Henryetta, Shyla Dailey and Melissa
Pigeon, both of Okmulgee; two brothers, Woody Lee of Hoffman and John Timothy of Muskogee; two
sisters, Glenda Scott and Edna Brownfield, both of Dewar; and fifteen grandchildren.

DOYLE
OKEMAH - Nora Wind DOYLE was born April 29, 1923 in Okemah. She died in January 2005. Funeral
services were held January 12 at High Springs Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Amon Harjo and Harley
Barnoski officiating. Casketbearers were David Randolph, Willie Hale, Mike McChristian, Richard
Wesley, Amon Deere and Christopher Powell. Interment was at Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
She was the daughter of George Wind and Millie Burris Wind. She was a homemaker married to George
Doyle for 48 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include her husband; Son,
James Doyle of Tulsa; daughter, Verbena S. Coulter of Beaver Creek, Oregon; fourteen grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren and a large group of nieces and nephews.

TAYLOR
OWASSO - Dr. Leola Sayoha McGilbra TAYLOR was born August 29, 1916 in Eufaula. She died
February 5, 2005. Funeral services were held at the First Assembly of God Church in Owasso. No other
information was given on funeral services. Interment was at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee.
She was the daughter of Lewis Alexander and Ethel Mae Davis McGilbra. She was raised in the Eufaula
and McAlester areas and graduated from Chilocco Indian School, Southeastern State College at Durant
where she earned her BS in 1942, and later her doctorate from Oklahoma State University. She taught in
Oktaha, Talihina, Stringtown and Atoka. In Stringtown, she married Junius Jesse Taylor. She recently was
inducted into Chilocco Indian School’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to Indian education. She was a
member of the Order of the Eastern Star of the State of Oklahoma and a Past Matron, The American
Auxiliary of University Women, Kappa Kappa Iota, the Oklahoma Education Educational Association, the
National Education, the Classroom Teachers Association, the International Reading Association and a past
member of the Oklahoma State Reading Board. She was employed with the Muscogee Nation in Okmulgee
as a grant writer.
Survivors include her son Myron Taylor and her daughter Lynn Newton, both of Owasso; six grandchildren;
her sister, Dovie Goions of Checotah; and brother, Albert McGilbra of Oktaha.

BARNES

KELLEY
BROKEN ARROW - Jesse Franklin KELLEY was born September 23, 1946. He died in 2005. Funeral
services were at Haikey Chapel Indian United Methodist Church with Rev. Brad Drowningbear officiating.
No information was given on his pall bearers. He was interred at Bixby Cemetery.
He was raised at Sperry and graduated from Vinita High School in 1964. He married Barbara Paradise
Kelley of Elko, Nevada. After attending Bacone College briefly, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and
served two years in San Diego, CA. After being honorably discharged and returning to Oklahoma, he
attended OSU-Tech and graduated in 1973. He worked for Target Corporation, Buy for Less and Safeway,
were he worked for over 30 years. He held offices at Haikey Chapel United Methodist Church, which was
founded by one of his ancestors. He served in several capacities with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation,
including with the Citizenship and Election Board and served five consecutive terms as Tulsa District
Representative on the Muscogee National Council.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lemuel Kelley. His survivors include his wife,
Barbara; his son, Lance Cal Kelley of Green Bay, Wisconsin; one brother, Thurman Kelley of Claremore;
two sisters, Suzanna Narcomey and Mary Ann Bell, both of Tulsa, and a cousin.

 KELLY
OKMULGEE - Rosa “Rose” Mae Lasley KELLY was born January 18, 1928 in Hanna. She died in 2005.
Funeral services were held at Weoogufkee Indian Baptist Church. Muscogee Second Chief, Rev. Alfred
Berryhill officiated. Pallbearers were Washington Kelly, Jr., David Nichols, Thomas Roberson, Gilbert
Thomas, Milton Lasley and Delbert Lasley. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Thomas, Jr., “Wolfie”
Phillips, Oris “Pony” Rodman, Jeremiah Lasley and Ivan Lasley. Interment was at the Lasley Family
Cemetery next to Weogufkee Indian Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of Gilbert and Senora Simmons Lasley of Hanna. She grew up and attended school in
Hanna before she moved to Lawrence, KS, to attend Haskell Indian Institute. She graduated in 1958. She
married Eugene Kelly and together they were two of the original founders of the Heart of America Indian
Center in Kansas City, MO, where they lived for many years. This center is recognized as the oldest
continuously operated Indian Center in the U.S. She eventually returned to Oklahoma and served as the
JOM/Teachers Aide in Henryetta Public Schools for approximately 8 years. Later, she became a longtime
employee of the Creek Nation Elderly Nutrition Center, where she worked as head cook until retiring in
1993 after 15 years service with Creek Nation. After her retirement, she became an accomplished textile
artist. She was a member of both Weogufkee Indian Baptist Church and Weogufkee Ceremonial Ground in
Hanna.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Youman and Jim Lasley.
She was survived by her two daughters, Jeana Couge of Dustin and Vicki Johnson of the home; one
grandson; one sister, Mattie Thomas of Okmulgee; two brothers, Monroe Lasley of Kansas City, MO, and
Mose Lindsey of Dewar; one goddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.

YARGEE
WETUMKA - Willard E. “Beepsy” YARGEE was born January 10, 1958 in Holdenville. He died in
January 2005. Funeral services were held January 15 at the Wetumka Indian Baptist Church with Rev.
Frank Moppin and Rev. Fred Lindsey officiating. Pallbearers included Yahola Buck, Brandon Rico, James
Tiger, James Scott, Marsey Scott, Robert Berryhill, Jackie Yargee and Brownie Harjo. Honorary
pallbearers were nephews Cody Rico; Ryan, Jon, and Jeremiah Moppin; and Eric, Kenny and Jeremy
Yahola. Interment was held at the Wetumka Cemetery.
He was the son of William and Salina Mae Tiger Yargee. He attended schools in Wetumka until his last
year and graduated high school from Holdenville in 1976. He joined the U.S. Army National Guard in
1980 and also served in the United States Marine Corp until his discharge in 1997. He returned to
Oklahoma and married Justina Buck. They lived in Wetumka and he worked with the Cook Oil Company
and the Wewoka Oil and Gas Production Company. He was a member of the Wetumka Indian Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Teres Yargee. His survivors include his mother, his
wife; one daughter, Kasena Moppin of Holdenville; three stepchildren, Lucinda Josh, Yahola Buck and
Sonja Buck; one brother, Charles Yargee; four sisters, Sarah Moppin of Holdenville, Deliah Stauffer, Mona
Bowman, and Marilyn Yargee, all of Wetumka; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
