This is a letter written by Lucy Jane (Dollie) (NEWTON) to my Grandmother,
Armina (NEWTON) CARROLL
on Feb 1, 1922 . Armina, was living in Shamrock, Creek, Ok.
Wise, Mo.
My Darling Sister
Amina our dear old Mother is gone. She was taken with a chill the night of
the 24 & passed away last night at 11:30 of pneumonia, she suffered quite
a bit. Will, John & I was here. I got here at 11:30 a.m. She knew me
but -----she was going when I see her.
Dear old papa I can't look at him with out crying. We will lay her away
tomorrow-----in the old Sandridge grave yard. We would have phoned you but
didn't think you would be able to come & none of us was able to help
you. My its awful to be poor.
Write papa at Will's.
Aunt Julia & Uncle Tom are both in bed & not very bad.
