Mrs. Freeman Dies in Dallas

Mrs. Mary Margaret Freeman, about 35, of 1009 1/2 Mulberry, died at 6:30 a.m. today at the Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Tex. Death came after a nine months illness from leukemia.

Mrs. Freeman was a native of Duncan. She had been married seven years to Clarence Guy Freeman.

Other survivors are two sons, Guy Robert, 2, and Henry Lee, 10 months.

Also surviving are four brothers, Eugene Jennings of Texarkana, Tex., Dr. Kenneth Jennings of Chelsea, Okla., Cecil Jennings of Jacksboro, Tex., and Forbes Jennings of Venezuela; and two sisters, Mrs. Mervin Johns of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mrs. Elmer Coggins of Los Angeles, Calif.

The funeral service will be announced by the Beeson Grantham Funeral Home.

Rites Set for Mrs. Freeman

The funeral for Mrs. Mary Margaret Freeman, 35, of 1009 1/2 Mulberry, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday pending the arrival of a brother, Forbes Jennings, from Venezuela.

Jennings was able to take a 5 p.m. plane yesterday for the states.

The Rev. Pat N. Easterling, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery by the Beeson Grantham Funeral Home.

Mrs. Freeman died in the Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Tex., at 6:30 a.m. yesterday. She had been ill for several months with leukemia.

Mrs. Freeman was a member of the Silver Thimble Sewing club. Members will serve as flower girls.

The bearers will be Holly Young, K. P. Estes, Henry Dreibelbis, Keith Mc Connell, Earl Sims, and Harry Lavender.

J. A. BROWN Dies at 60
James Arthur (Buster) BROWN, 60, died Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Born July 12, 1910, in Comanche, he was a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 362, and the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alma, of the home; three sons, Jerry, of Houston, Tex.; Terry, the home, and Joe Bob, of  Detroit, Mich. Also surviving are three sistors, Mrs. Minnie SCHLEGEL; Mrs. Ruby HARRIS and Mrs. W. A. JOHNSON; two brothers, Leonard, Duncan Rt. 3, and Fred, Duncan Rt. 1, and six grandchildren.
Service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Carter, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
Bearers will be L. C. MORGAN, L. G. PLOTT, Terry WALTON, Leo SMITH, Elton LAMB, Delton LAMB, Darrell BETHANY and Ernie WALL.

Esther V. Lambert

Esther V. Lambert, 70, died Friday, June 19, 1992, in a Lawton hospital.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, 1992, at the Gatlin Baptist Church under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Tolbert will officiate. Burial will be in the Duncan City Cemetery.

Mrs. Lambert was born October 15, 1921 in Story, Ark. She worked at Haggar Slacks for 20 years before retiring in 1982. She married James Clyde Lambert of Aug. 27, 1938 in Madill. She was a member of the Gatlin Baptist Church. She had been a Duncan resident since 1966, moving here from Walters where she had lived 18 years.

Survivors include her husband, James Clyde, of the home; a daughter, Charrel Wessel of Enid; a brother, Buel Young of Crossett, Ark.; a half-brother Jasper Young, Madill, and one grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Melvin M. 'Cotton' Blackerby

RATLIFF CITY - Melvin M. "Cotton" Blackerby, 67, of Ratliff City died suddenly Saturday, June 27, 1992, in a Duncan hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ratliff City Baptist church with the Rev. Bill Florez officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Cemetery under the direction of Milburn Funeral Home.

Mr. Blackerby was born in Mansville, on April 16, 1925, the son of the late Perry and Ola Lowery Blackerby. He lived all of his life in Ratliff City.

Survivors include a daughter, Florence Banta of Healdton; three sons, Tommy of Duncan, Terry of Sulphur and James of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Willa Dean Clary of Yukon and Darlene Maxwell of Ames, Okla.; two brothers, Roy of Ratliff City and Tommy of Lake Jackson, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Lila Faye Clay

Funeral for Lila Faye Clay, 77, of Route 5 Duncan, who died Thursday, June 25, 1992, at home, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Ted Sutton will officiate and burial will follow in the Mt. Grove Cemetery in Loco.

Born Dec 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William and Ollie Henry. Mrs. Clay married George M. Clay on March 13, 1935, in Velma. A homemarker, she wa a member of the Liberty Baptist Church and Senior Citizens clubs.

Survivors include her husband of the home; four sons, William Clay of Graham, Alan Clay Angleton, Texas, Jack Clay of Tulsa and Richard Clay of Duncan; two daughters, Donita Brandon of Hurst, Texas, and Barbara Bradbury of Edmond; a brother, Gid Henry of Duncna; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be grandsons; Jimmy Alan Clay, William Alan Clay, Anthony Wayne Brandon, Metthew Bradbury, William Stewart Clay and Victor Eric Clay.

Honorary bearers will be Christopher Mark Clay, Edwasd John Clay, Bobby Joe Brandon, Jr., Daniel Marston Clay and Jason Price

Hazel Marie Huber

BOWIE, Texas -- Funeral for Hazel Marie Huber, 79, of Ringgold, who died Friday, June 26, 1992, in Bowie, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church in Bowie.

Burial will follow in Bowie's Elmwood Cemetery under the direction Kreig-Owens-Brumley of Bowie.

A longtime Ringgold resident, she was born October 4, 1912, in Pike, Okla.

Survivors include two sons, Waldo Huber Jr., of Bowie and Dennis Huber of Bridgeport, Texas; a daughter Wanda Brown of Montague, Texas; four brothers, Ernest Alexander, Ben Alexander and Ode Alexander, all of Marietta, Okla., and Mac Alexander of California; two sisters, Mae Carlisle of Thackerville and Ida Gamble of Henrietta; and 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Marlow--Longtime area resident John Silas ETTER, 72, of Marlow died Monday, April 11, 1994, in a Marlow nursing home.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Marlow's Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alvin MCCONNELL officiating. Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery.
Mr. ETTER was born Jan 13, 1922, in Acme to Josephine FITZPATRICK and Leslie ETTER. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A rancher, he had previously lived in Arizona for 10 years. He was a member of Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs. On July 30, 1939, he married Helen ARCHER in Marlow. His second wife, Doris ETTER, died in September 1993.
Survivors in 3 daughters, and their mother, 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
