CUNNINGHAM
Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park October
19 at 2:30 p.m. for Virginia CUNNINGHAM, 73, who passed away October 14,
1999.
Virginia was born December 5, 1925 in Stigler, Haskell Co., Oklahoma
and had resided in Kern County since 1949.
She is survived by her son, Leon MITCHELL and daughter, Sandra ELMORE, both
of CA; step-daughter of Joyce COLLINS of Arizona; five grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; sister, Mae TIFFINY of Arizona; and brothers Roy MOORE
of Arizona, Tom MOORE of Washington, and Hershel MOORE of CA.

BEASLEY
Recitiation of the Rosary will be held Oct 18 at St. Francis Catholic Church
for Charles R. BEASLEY Sr.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held Oct. 19 at St. Francis. A gravesite
committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Father Tim Gallemore
will be officiating.
Charles was born in Milton, LeFlore Co., Oklahoma. He is survived
by his wife of 35 years, Kathryn; son Charles; daughter Kaylene GROGAN; 3
grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters of Sanger, one sister of
Fresno, many nieces and nephews, and several godchildren.
He was a man who was rough on the outside, and a teddy bear on the inside.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

VOTH
Graveside services were held in Shafter Memorial Park November 9 for Betty
Mae "Toots" VOTH, 78, who passed away November 3, 1999 in Bakersfield. Hospice
Chaplain, Dan Wilson, will officiate.
Mrs. Voth was born May 11, 1921 in Bessie (formerly Stout), Washita Co.,
Oklahoma and had resided in Kern County for 19 years. She was an active member
of the Greenacres Senior Center and she was very proud of her Oklahoma
heritage.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia S. THOMPSON of CA; sister Zelma
BUFFING and brother Roy GORSHING, both of Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren;
3 great-grandchildren,

LANGE
Graveside services were held Nov. 5 at North Kern District Cemetery in
Delano with Rev. Charles Toy officiating for Nancy Caroll LANGE, 68, of
Bakersfield, who passed away Nov. 1 in Bakersfield.
Lange was born Jan. 23, 1931 in Sapulpa, Creek Co.,Oklahoma and had
resided 48 years in Kern County.
Survivors include sister Thelma INGRAM of CA; daughters Debra NINEFELDT and
Rebecca COVERT of CA; two granddaughters, one great-grandson, one
great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Milton E. LANGE, parents Fred and
Georgia MORRIS, brothers Warren, Bob, Channis, and Joe MORRIS.

MOON
Services were held Nov. 17 at Delano Mortuary Chapel for Andrew Jefferson
MOON, 81, of McFarland, who passed away Nov. 12 in Delano.
Moon was born July 20, 1918 in Milburn (formerly Ellen) Johnston Co.,
Okla., and had resided 56 years in the McFarland area.
Survivors include wife Illene MOON; sons Aloy and Roy MOON; daughters
Doris and Shirley; brother Ben MOON; seven grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Burial was held at North Kern District Cemetery in Delano with Rev.Willard
Lee officiating.
Delano Mortuary handled arrangements.

WISNER
Services were held Nov. 23 at Pixley Missionary Baptist Church for Norma
Jean McGOWAN WISNER of Pixley, who passed away Nov. 17.
Wisner was born in Seminole(formerly Tidmore), Seminole Co., Okla.,
She was a lifelong valley resident.
She was preceeded in death by her parents Woodard and Mary COBB, and Bob
STRAND, and her sister Marie SIMMONS.
Survivors include husband, Edward; sons Steve, Randy, and Brett; brothers
Elmer and Robert; sister Wyonna and Sharon; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Burial was held at Tipton-Pixley District Cemetery.
Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.

ROBISON
Services will be held at Hillcrest Park and Mortuary on Friday, November 12, 1999 at 2 p.m. for Charles Randolph ROBISON, 84, who passed away on November 8, 1999 in Bakersfield, CA. Bishop William Butler will officiate. Visitation is Thursday, November 11th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Randolph, a long time resident of Kern County, was born in Dustin, Hughes Co. Oklahoma on April 6, 1915 to Edward and Dorena ROBISON. He married Mary TUCKER in 1937 and they moved to California in the early 40's with their family, where he farmed until retirement.
Randolph was precceeded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, four brothers and four sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory three sons, Charles, Stephen, and Ricky; two daughters, Angie SLATER and Donna LAWRENCE, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Randolph was loved, respected, and admired by everyone who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling humorous stories. He will be greatly missed.

TURNER
Graveside services for Weldon Turner will be held Friday, November 12, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, officiated by Reverend Grant Frye.
Weldon was born May 20, 1927 in Oklahoma and passed away here in Bakersfield on November 4, 1999. He is survived by his wife Jo Pat; his mother Idabell HALL; 4 sisters and 1 brother, also a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, November 12, 1999 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary.

CHURCH
Closed casket funeral services will be held Monday, November 29, 1999 at 10 a.m. at the United Pentecostal Church at the corner of Walnut and Haven Drive in Arvin for John W. CHURCH, 69, of Bakersfield who went home to be with the Lord November 23. Pastor John Piercy will officiate and private internment will follow.
John was born March 4, 1930 in Wade, Oklahoma to John and Agnes CHURCH. The family moved to California in 1936 and landed at Di Giorgio Farms. In 1952, Jay met and married Nita SHROPSHIRE, and he began his construction career about the same time. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12 in 1960. Although he retired early due to ill health, Jay remained an active member of the Local 12. Jay's faith and trust in God brought him great comfort and helped him to endure the many years of sickness. He was a loving family man and his greatest joy was his granddaughters.
Jay is survived by his wife, Nita; son and daughter in-law, Tom and Michelle; granddaughters Tomi, Kristina MATTSON and husband, Ken and great-granddaughter Kyra; brothers and sisters-in law, Charles and Donna, Jim (Eddie) and Penny; sisters and brothers in-law; Vera ZARZANA and Olen, Shirley and Bill SULLIVAN, as well as his many special nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 28, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Arvin Funeral Home, 600 Tucker Street.

MOORE
Services will be held at Chester Avenue Baptist Church, 1509 Chester Ave., November 28th, 1999 at 2 p.m.
Darrell E. MOORE, born 9-20-31 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK. Died 11-24-99. He leaves his wife Helen, daughter Daryl, sons Bruce and Bradley James, daughter-in-law Karen, grandson BJ, sisters Sandra CRYE, Cammiela FONDRON, La Von MONEY, and brother DeWayn. He is preceeded in death by his parents Walter and Marion MOORE, brother Buddy and sister Gail.
He served in the U.S. Air Force 1952-1956. He retired from Shell Oil Co. in 1989 after 32 years. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling and photographing all 50 states. He was an excellent tour guide, loved to dance, watch John Wayne movies, and was always the light of the party.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Chester Ave. Baptist Church or Hoffman Hospice of the Valley.

HORST
Funeral services will be held Saturday at Shalimar Baptist Church, for George
William HORST with Pastor Richard Hunter officiating. Full military honors
will be conducted by the Associated Veterans of Bakersfield and entombment
will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
He was born on January 24, 1928 in Butler, Custer Co., Oklahoma and
was preceeded in death by his parents, John and Nel HORST and sister
Oleta McMURTRIE.
George served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. His love of people served
him well as a loan officer with the Bank of America for 36 years and
as member of the Bank of America Retirees Association. Upon his retirement
he was employed at Mish Funeral Home for 17 years. He was a private pilot
for many years, and as a result, he and his wife enjoyed many flying vacations.
He was a proud and patriotic member of several veterans groups and served
in many offices of these groups. He was the past President of the Kern County
Funeral Directors Association. He was a faithful member of Shalimar Baptist
Church and his love of the Lord upheld him during his 3 year battle with
cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary L.; his children, Corrine
WESTERVELT; son Stephen HORST; daughter Gayle ROCK; seven grandchildren;
his brother John HORST; his sister Neva JAHN; his sister Sharrin HOUSSAYE;
and many nieces and nephews.
An additional reception will he held at the Shalimar Baptist Church Auditorium
after the cryptside services in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

WOOD
Graveside services will be held December 10 at the Shafter Memorial Park
for D.B. WOOD, age 73 of Bakersfield, who passed away December 4 in Bakersfield.
Pastor John Shirley of the Valley Baptist Church will officiate.
D.B. was born on November 19, 1926 in Indianola, Pittsburg Co., Oklahoma
to George and Mary WOOD. He came to Kern County in 1945 and made a career
of farming, and owned his own farm before his retirement.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Audrey FLETCHER.
He is survived by his brothers, Linal, Wade, James, Jerry, and Clinton WOOD;
his sisters, Irene POSEY, Thelma EDDINGS, Elsie PARK, Sylvia DAVIDSON, Clara
BAGGS , Susie LaPIERRE, Judy PATTERSON and Betty LIM; 52 niece and nephews
and numerous other relatives and friends.

RAINS
Memorial services will he held in the Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River
Blvd., December 23, for Norma RAINS, who passed away December 20, 1999 in
Bakersfield. Minister Randy Hillburn will officiate.
Mrs. RAINS was born on September 23, 1924 in McAlester, Pittsburg Co.
Oklahoma, and resided in Kern County for 52 years. Norma worked at El
Tejon Drug Store as a sales clerk. Norma began serving God by serving others.
In high school she began caring for and supporting her mother. She was married
to Ray RAINS in September 1947.They came to California. Soon afterwards he
became ill and was hospitalized at Veterans Hospital in San Fernando for
many years. Norma wrote to him every day, and went by bus to see him every
Sunday, her only day off from work. Her home was always a refuge to anyone
needing help. She had surgery Dec.3 and never recovered from it. She is preceeded
in death by her husband Ray, her sister Nettie SCROGGINS, brothers Clyde
and Roy MAXSON.
She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Harry and Maimie MUDGE, Elva
HAMMAN, and Calvin and Inez RAINS, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She
was a life long member of the Church of Christ. She will be cremated and
laid to rest beside her husband. God has welcomed her home with "Well Done,
Thou Good and Faithful Servant"

WALDEN
Visitation will be held at Mish Funeral Home, Olidale starting on Friday, January 7, 12 noon will a graveside service to be conducted by Rev. Ken Fletcher at Montecito Cemetery, Loma Linda, California on Monday, Jan 10. at 12 noon for John W. WALDEN, 82, who passed away January 4 in Bakersfield after a lengthy illness.
John was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma on 5-27-17 to J.W. and Marie WALDEN. John had spent most of his life living in in Southern California and the past 20 years in Bakersfield. He was a graduate of Colton High School and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after 42 years service as a locomotive engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving from 1938 to 1941. John was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Bakersfield. He and his wife Phyllis enjoyed traveling and family.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Phyllis; daughter and son in-law, Linda and Carl OLSON; granddaughter Lesley OLSON of Fontana, CA; brother Jack WALDEN of San Luis Obispo; sisters, Novella Vander LUGT of Lindsey, CA, Alice of Keator, Arkansas; step-sons, Rob and Chris MILLER; numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
